PS4 Gaming Headset
Discussion
Guys,
I'm looking to sort out a decent gaming headset and am looking for a steer as to which is the best to go for. Budget is pretty much open ended, but I am pretty picky when it comes to sound quality. To date I've always games with a livingroom 5.1 set up but it obviously isn't ideal when it comes to FPS as even with a mic the sound blasting around my room overpowers everything.
Anyone got any recommendations?

I've got what was the expensive Xbox Turtlebeach ones when the One was first released. Excellent quality now a few updates have been out for them and the build quality is excellent.
These look like a bit of a bargain...

Then if you want to go all out...

Another vote for the PX4. Very comfortable, sounds great and lasts ages on a charge. The standard charge cable is a bit short but I purchased a 3m one off Amazon for not much money and it works great so I can charge as I play (if I get caught out by the dreaded 'beeping of death' )
The mic is detachable too so I even use them when watching Bluray movies if watching alone

I didn't realise till the other day you can use your normal headphones as a headset (provided it's got the mic for iPhone/android of course). I found my Beats to be reasonably good at it, nice and bassy, but I think it's time for my noise cancelling Bose headphones so I can't hear the OH watching Netflix in the bedroom.

These, comfy great battery life and the surround sound somehow works great. Had them ages with no issues to report, used them for mammoth sessions without running out of battery. And I'm told the inbuilt mic sounds great.

Another vote for the sony gold 2.0. Its a 5.1 set for games, not too expensive (about £80), wireless, comfy and no messy wires on the console in the living room.
Oh and importantly you can still get full HD sound on the blu ray player output as you're not needing to turn on the dual audio output option for the optical out port, like you need to with the non Sony models.

I'm thinking of upgrading from my less than a year old Turtle Beach PX22 headset (wired, non surround) which whilst good aren't very comfortable as a glasses wearer. Plus being tethered is becoming tiresome and I think having surround would be a distinct advantage
This time around I want wireless and surround and I've seen the recommendations on here for the official Sony cans, but I've also been seduced by the much more expensive Astro A50s. The only downside to the latter (aside from the cost) being the lack of independent volume controls for the game and voice chat levels. Do the Sony's have that out of interest?
For anyone that has the A50s, is this a problem? When in a fireteam (Destiny) I tend to have the chat volume much higher than the game volume and at the moment I can adjust these levels independently.
Any comments welcome

Would recommend the Turtle Beach Elite800 as well, very comfy, 7.1 surround, wireless, can adjust game and mic levels on the fly, also has an app for the phone so you can adjust everything in game on there as well. Sound quality for watching movies and listening to music is also very good and with the app or just be pressing a button, you can change it to pre set profiles and even make your own profiles by game.
They are expensive though....
