The girlfriend has bought me a Vive for Christmas but as I work away I've been allowed to have it early. I've only set it up and run the training simulator and the Zombie school, but both blew me away. The immersion is amazing.

What do people recommend to get my teeth stuck into? I'm already planning a steering wheel for Assetto Corsa through ReVive, but I'm interested in all different types of games.
I'd recommend the Budget Cuts demo (best thing I've played on it so far) as well as Raw Data and Vanishing Realms.

Cheers. Vanishing Realms looks like it could be good. I'll give those a look.

Onward!

Its like Call of Duty in VR.

I have 60 ish hours in game now, its (IMHO) the best FPS at the moment.

Project Cars supports Vive natively as does iracing.

Freebies - VR multigames (hit and miss but quite fun), Nvidia VR Funhouse is slick. The Lab, Google Earth VR, Lazerbait, Accounting (weird/adult/sweary), Senza Peso(opera), Quanero(mystery), The Bellows(terrifying), Gnomes and Goblins(cute and beautiful), Trials on Tatooine (looks great, nothing groundbreaking), Budget Cuts (one of the best).

Paid - Space Pirate Trainer is good fun, Apollo 11 VR (well presented), Raw Data , Job Simulator

Some pretty odd looking things!

Also the wireless link is meant to be coming to the UK in Q2.

Errr what? To be honest I can think of other parts of my body that would be A LOT higher up the list for the inclusion of VR tactile feedback before I got to my feet. Perhaps the designer is a foot fetishist? biggrin

and Elite Dangerous works natively too. I've been having a great time exploring the galaxy!! I set it up with voice attack and an HCS voice pack (She is called Astra) and can verbally command my ship to do stuff - it is brilliant!!

To those who may have played both, would you suggest Serious Sam VR or Arizona Sunshine for a shooty game?

I had a go at the Facebook pop up VR shop in Denver last week.

I'm excited to see how far this goes.

Neither. I would suggest Onward. Its a mil-sim so maybe not exactly what you want if its for a kid or something?
But if you enjoy COD or anything like that you will enjoy it I suspect.

Its early days though in terms of development, there is no ranking system, no scores are logged etc. Its also only 4v4 at the moment and no respawn but I expect that will come. I think the dev is working on 6v6.

I have just joined a team, its very well organised and there is a bi weekly worldwide match which lasts about 6-7 hours with dozens of teams playing.

I managed to get Dirt Rally working in the Vive using the revive compatibility layer (which can be found here: https://github.com/LibreVR/Revive)

Loved DR on the PS4 but, in VR it is so much better!! Very highly recommended thumbup

Dead easy to get it working. Assuming you already have Dirt Rally installed via Steam:-

Install oculus home and set up an account. Skip all the hardware setup.

Install the latest version of revive.

Start Steam VR

Right click the revive icon in the system tray and select 'patch'

Browse to the DRT.exe (allow it to replace 2 x files)

Start Dirt Rally from within Steam.

Enjoy smile

That's how I got Assetto Corsa working too. Driving the Nordschleife in a Lotus Type 72 is something I never thought I'd get to experience.

I have a Rift and a steering wheel and project cars....I really really need to get a proper setup for it.

If you guys are using Revive I thoroughly thoroughly recommend Superhot VR (assuming Revive works for it!).

Time only moves when you do, so you can plot your moves to take down the baddies in each scenario. You feel really cool, can doge bullets, and feel like Neo in the Matrix (in a good way when the film was good and not ruined by two terrible sequels).

You really should set your wheel up (and get Dirt Rally too) driving games are perfect for showcasing VR.

I think I've played superhot when it was just a flash game and thought even then that it was an interesting concept. The internet seems to suggest that it does work with revive so, that is another one added to the (ever growing) list!! smile

Tested tried this out last week. Lag seems bearable. They are down <2ms.

As soon as they are out here I will be getting one if they 2 hour battery life reflects real life.

Is that the TPcast you are talking about?
That link is for another supplier (and I found a 3rd as well).
I guess that CES is bringing them out of the woodwork.

I'm interested for sure.

Yeah I should do - I just can't bring myself to spend money on a seat and some metal tubing...silly I know!

I've been using a wheel stand pro for years. Easily and quickly stored out of the way. Surprisingly stable, even when driving gets enthusiastic. Yes, it still costs money but, much less than a proper sim rig setup and basically does the same job!
