Onwards first major patch for the last few months brings 5v5 games.
Spent a couple of hours last night playing and its improved the gameplay as people are more willing to rush. Also allows for better game play in VIP mode.

Ref SS my 970 does not like any SS and have still not got round to getting a new card, I tried 1.3 / 1.4 but frame drops were very noticeable.

I downloaded the oculus sdk, but the Oculusdebugtool that i used doesn't seem to be included anymore when I try to download it now. I'm afraid you'll need to use the power of google to find it now sorry, it should be on the Oculus or Vive forums as lots of people use it. It was really simple, but they seem to have changed things...
I was reading recently that they have changed the supersampling configuration from linear to exponential. I don't really
know what that means other than, if you used to have it set to say 1.5 for example, this will now be the equivalent of a lower setting (or something). 3.24 is the same as 1.8 previously apparently. I think it is going to require some research and tinkering!

Quick heads up for those who are unaware - Steam summer sale starts at 6pm tonight, I'm hoping to pick up some VR bargains thumbup

Thanks for the heads up on SS changes speckle, it was pretty simple before and brought a lot of benefit...hopefully I can keep using what I've got long enough that someone smarterer than me can figure out the best settings for a 980ti smile

Oculus have a summer sale on too, I've been looking at some of the bundles...having just bought the touch controllers I wanted something to try it out. Perfect timing...

Just setup Steam to work with my Rift and have to say the experience is a little unpolished. The games on Steam also seem a little off too.

Will be sticking to the Rift store from now on. Can't wait for the next version of the Rift - desperate for better resolution and hopefully wireless.

I've not touched my PSVR for at least a couple of months as there are very few decent titles out for it and those that are, are expensive and really short. Perhaps the PC is the more natural home for this emergent technology as there seem to be many more releases at more reasonable prices but I still don't think it's really hit it's stride. VR could well be the display technology of the future but it's still not quite there yet IMO. Seriously thinking of selling my VR headset and trying again in 2-3 years when the technology is more mature and there are actually proper games to play on it.

I sold my PSVR pretty quick. It's was good for what it was but as you say games were short and very expensive.

PC is a better home, lots of experimental stuff for very little money and as there is a bigger user base probably more economic. Lots or garbage as well mind.

I don't know if any of you have looked at this thread - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

there is a new demo (number 3) and it has a VR version to try.

That site looks properly dubious. I know it's a balance between promotion and producing the game but if you can't program/design a decent looking website then I'm not sure I'm going to back you.

Graphics look pretty good though.

I think I have enough titanic in my life though, I backed this https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1436197736/ti... same people who did the excellent Apollo11 VR experience. There is a very brief demo on Steam.

Nothing dubious, they have been working on this for quite a while. They are a very small team looking for backing to produce the game, they are doing a lot of research to accurately recreate the ship. Working with Titanic experts. The demos are to help get the backing. Nothing wrong with the website to me, I have seen a lot worse.

I had a VR night on saturday, that titanic demo would have been a great addition for the non-gamers to get in on the action...will just have to do it again smile

Not sure if it's a feature added for VR but on the non-VR version there was a lot of motion blur when looking around that is not present on the previous 2 demos. I turned down post processing in the settings and it removed it just in case it's not nice on the VR.

Looks interesting, I'll definitely be having a look at that.

The Oculus Rift has been reduced to £400 with controllers. I'm very tempted now but I wonder if HTC will do something to match?

They didn't recently match the previous Rift price reduction. This new deal is less than I paid second hand in March...

If you're into cockpit flight/space/racing games the Rift is slightly better anyway by all accounts. I've only used Vive briefly and found it blurry compared to my Rift, but that could well have been down to the setup used in the shop I was in.

Honestly I think it's awesome, I'm so glad I got it, the immersion is amazing.

That was probably the set-up you were using. Not had any issues with blurriness

It's a good deal if you want a rift.

I think I read last time that HTC said they were not reducing because they don't need to, already outselling OR. I guess a drop might come when other players are in on Steam. For OR, It could be selling out v1 stock or maybe they are needing to sell more.

Yeah, it was at Overclockers for the racing comp there, and lots of people have said the same about the Res, it was honestly that bad it made me step back from buying at the time. Apparently SDE is slightly less in Rift, but you get god rays when there are bright objects in dark backgrounds instead...which I can confirm. It's usually in menus that I notice it, not so much in game and it's never been an issue for me.

They didn't price match when Rift dropped to £600 all in, but this is really going to make a difference, there is so little to pick between the headsets, if you're not too fussed about roomscale this is absolutely the deal to go for...lets face it most people struggle for a playspace big enough to get the best out of roomscale which is where the Vive is the better choice.

Month madness, I read six weeks on the comments of the first link and forgot we were in July already, but I think it's still a 6 week reduction.

So it seems to have gone from £740 with controllers to £400 since launch. At that price I'm getting tempted.
