3 Hours in and its a little bit.....
Oh My God!!
The game looks so good, in Nathans house it looks so real, towels on the floor, unmade bed - a proper lived in house, lots or clutter, you know you normally see a house in a game and it looks very bare and basic, in this game you just want to stop and look at everything - best looking game ever!
The actual game-play too is awesome and has had me on the edge of my seat - my son has been playing with me and as we have both recently played the uncharted collection together we have both been stopping and looking at each other as there are some genuinely laugh out loud/funny/touching/sad moments - you don't mind watching somebody else play as you can take in the beautiful scenery and its like watching a brilliant movie, the way the characters move and interact with each other is so real looking - its amazing!
If you are considering this game just stop reading this, get up to your local Asda/Tesco or whichever and get a copy you wont regret it!
3 Hours in and already its my new favorite game!!!
There have been scenes where I've had to stop and lift my bottom jaw up - it looks that good - wait until you see the underwater effects. And the water. And the marble floors, walls decor, the cellar, the prison - oh my its amazing!

Good to hear and nice to see ND are still on form when it comes to stunning visuals. They really did make the PS3 pop visually like no other game could. What engine does Uncharted run on?Oh My God!!

The best bit of the game that I've seen is ... How there is a PS1 and you play Crash Bandicoot!
Yes! That was a brilliant touch! But agree with the above comments so far, I've just started chapter 8, need to get to bed though, but it's a big thumbs up from me so far.
I really like the gameplay, I assume it'll get more difficult and involved as the game progresses but the climbing mechanics, gunplay etc are good. The graphics are superb, this is next gen for sure and a great sign of what the PS4 can do. Hats off to Naughty Dog though too, they make a stunning game, this is like The Last Of Us on acid - the detail on the skin, the facial expressions... It's crazy to think how far they've come with this stuff.
Definitely worth picking it up. FYI Game and Sainsburys had it for £47 near me, Smyths were £42. Amazon were £42 too but I wanted it today and Prime wouldn't deliver Same Day for a new game.
It really does look stunning, bit like playing an interactive movie at this point (I'm at chapter 7 I think). I'm particularly impressed by the facial animations in the dialog cut scenes, but the scenery and environment is very detailed and beautifully lit.
It does give the PS4 a bit of a work out though as my cooling fan is on constantly whereas I hardly hear it normally.
My only gripe, and it is a minor one, is the lack of an aiming reticle when you aren't aiming down sights. When you are in cover and have enemies around, it's very hard to work out where your gun is going to be pointing when you pop out of cover to aim. Consequently, you have to bob in and out to determine effectively where you are looking, that's a little annoying as you take a few hits whilst doing do
You can turn on "snap to enemy" aiming of course, but then if said enemy is partially behind cover themselves with perhaps just the head showing, then I've found you tend to just shoot the cover as you can't move the aiming spot with that option enabled. It works like a laser, perhaps a little too well, when they are out in the open however
If anyone knows of an option to enable that which I have missed, then please do tell as that will make it pretty much perfect for me

To be honest this is the only complaint I have.It does give the PS4 a bit of a work out though as my cooling fan is on constantly whereas I hardly hear it normally.

It also seems that the aiming reticle isn't in the middle of the screen so you roughly aim only to find it's about 2 inches below where you wanted haha.

Seriously, what a great looking game and knowing Naughty Dog, it'll play really well. It has actually resulted in my younger brother, a staunch Xbone advocate (as he has the mental age of 7 ), to finally cave in a buy a PS4.
Victory at last as I always told him he bought the wrong console (as I have the mental age of 10 )
Looking forward to giving this a damn good thrashing, time permitting.
There is some references to back story that I've discovered in the first couple of hours of gameplay. Nothing huge but there are previous characters, previous momentos, things about the house, the people you interact with, etc...
It's not critical to play the previous games but I think it would be a good thing just to sort of fill any dark areas.

Yeah pretty much, I haven't played the previous games, but this stands of its own. It has to really - it's the first one on PS4, they can't alienate new players that might be potential customers for the new bundle.
It references the previous games nicely, so I'm sort of aware of the past exploits but this is definitely its own chapter in the series.

why can't you cut the video clips
If you are talking about the cut scenes then I think you can. Hit the Options button mid cut scene and then I think I saw an option in there to "Skip cinematic" or something like that along with an option to "Replay cinematic" if you likeEdit: replay, not reply!
