Anyone else noticed new Pokestops and gyms appearing? My village has a couple of new Pokestops and a new gym.
Yes, we've had one new stop that I've noticed.

Arcanine has always been one of my favourite gen 1 Pokémon. Finally got one!

Finally got a phone able to run this game so I'm just starting out.

Current count is 81. Loads and loads of Weedles, Pidgeys and Sentrets around here so already have a Beedrill, Pigeot and Furret.

Best I've got at the moment is a CP949 Vaporeon and a CP854 Charizard.

Biggest issue I have is I live in the sticks so the nearest Pokestop is nearly a mile away. Does amuse my OH as everytime we walk into town I have my phone in my hand. Had to go into Hereford earlier which helped me get an egg hatched and caught me a Houndour, Sneasel and a few Vulpix to help me along.

Yup, you just have to stick with it! First 1000CP 'mon, then first 2000CP are all exciting.

A mile walk should be looked at as a positive to start racking up eggs and Buddy candy, though hehe

Things I'd do differently now if I was starting again:
  • Don't bother using any Stardust until you're at about level 25.
  • Use an IV checker to keep the better base Pokemon, only evolve to keep if they're over 90%.
  • Collect every Pidgey, Weedle and Catapie, keep the right number for your candy, and evolve them on a Lucky Egg to romp through the first few levels.
  • If you need to do a load of Pokestops, go on your bike to a nearby town, and work out a c.5min loop that takes in a load of them.
  • When you pic a team, if you haven't already, pick the one that seems to dominate your local gyms.
I'm sure there are other tips on here...

I've turned it on today after 8 months away.... Lots of new Pokémon (obviously) and MK1 Pokémon which weren't so numerous before Christmas.

Although the pidgey community is still strong here.

No mention of being able to collect coins still..

All send to be gym badges as the reward.

Although the gym raids could be exciting.

Another way to monetise the system....

The info on new gym functionality is interesting, I'm sure someone with better work web access can provide a link or copy/paste. However, the raid events with a big boss, complete with strong rewards for beating them all sounds ace.

It was interesting that there are going to be new tools to permanently change a Pokemon's attacks, and the ability to catch super-rare Pokemon. (Legendary?)

The only worry is that for me, as a random player doing a little here and a little there, and rural, I won't be able to get to the raids very easily.

I've not played in ages, I never really enjoyed the game but having been out walking and my wife playing I opened the app, gone from level 8 to level 18 in a few days and been enjoying it.

Is there a best way to evolve a pokemon to get the highest level from your evolution, I always try to evolve an XL, but other than that just hit evolve when I have the candy.

You can level up really quickly in the early days, I've just reached level 32 and need 750,000 XP.

You can compare IV stats for your Pokemon, and evaluate movesets and things like that.... But I tend to just evolve the strongest (highest CP) and leave it at that.

It can be worth saving a few to evolve, and doing them all at the same time using one of the lucky eggs for the extra XP it gives you.

Mine were still in yesterday morning and I got my coins, but by evening the gyms had all been disabled and my Pokemon have been returned to me, but with full health and without needing revived.

Around my local area (small town or large village, not really sure,) I have had two Pokestops converted to gyms, and one new Pokestop added.

Before we had about 15 Pokestops and 3 Gyms.

I also had my final remaining gym sitter returned with full health.

Looks like the spawning near gyms has been massively increased as compensation for them being out of action. Saw about 8 Vulpix near one and about a dozen Growlithe around another!

Haven't seen any new gyms/stops, but I gather that every gym will now also be a stop?

Gyms around these parts are all greyed out and give the message;
'Gyms are under construction'

Essentially resetting all of the gyms will be good as I know that there were a lot that had been held for what feels like years and by people that no longer play.

Found one of the stops on my lunch circuit has changed to a gym.

The 'no more than one of each Pokemon' in a gym is a great change, bit of diversity sorely needed!

Getting bored of Vulpix and Arcanine now though.

It does look like it will improve the gyms part of the game but I guess only time will tell.
