Always wise not to leave your best in remote gyms and also check how long the person that holds it has been there before you knock them out.
You will inevitably also not get coins from it as it will be knocked out on a day where you have got coins from else where.

I've come back after a bit of an absence and got started on Monday.
I'd recommend for those that want to hoover up pokestops you'd go for a Pokemon Go-tcha.
My top tip is to disable (in the app settings) notifications about Pokemon and leave it enabled for Pokestops, then you can have a wonder to town etc and let the Go-tcha spin the spots for you. It works well whilst driving as well! As it looks like a Fitbit you don't walk about with a Pokeball strapped to your wrist and have to answer any difficult questions.... Less colourful straps are available to if you don't like the shipping strap.

The weekend event was very poorly communicated. I genuinely had no idea what was going on.
I got a few Corsollas yesterday, and have been quite enjoying the 3x catch XP, although to be honest, I'd prefer 2x XP on everything. I have about 450 Pokemon ready for a lucky egg grinding session.

I didn't either until I logged in early this morning and it saw 5 of them in once place! Must have been a bug because they then disappeared. I understand it is a special 1-off 2-day thing because Niantic's servers had problems (again) last weekend with the special event.
I think it was released as a reward for the Dortmund Safari event.The events are good, but often very confusing in terms of what they mean!
