The Assetto Corsa Weekly Challenge

I may not join you this week, as it's a fiver to get the track (none of the DP's cars interest me, do I'd just be buying the track).
Sorry! I checked the PS4 track list to ensure all platforms can have a go. I just assumed that if the consoles have the track then it must be a default track for the PC version - obviously not.I can change the track if you want? Perhaps Imola, Mugello or Vallelunga? I don't want to alienate anyone.

Slightly OT but I bought Project Cars on Sunday as it was in the Steam sale. That's a whole world of disappointment. Why does driving a Caterham R500 feel the same as driving a Mustang GT?
I was in it early on at the funding stage - the only good thing about it is I get around 8 euros every so often for their sales. The graphics and sound are pretty good, the car models are nice and there is a lot of depth to the game but the physics just aren't there. There is a lack of connection between what should be going on and what actually is.
I wouldn't put it in the same category as AC but I did have a lot of fun on the road tracks, with changing weather (so from sunny to an absolute downpour) and any rear wheel drive car.

I looked on Steam and if you buy AC for £30 now, then you do actually get all the packs included. I bought AC the day it came out as a beta, so I've had to buy each patch separately when they've been released. If a pack didn't have single seaters in it or a UK/Northern European track that I race on real life then I haven't bothered to get it. The GT40 is rather special though, so I'll look into it this weekend.

I bought Project Cars for the weather and day/night transitions that I know are not going to be in Assetto Corsa so I can simulate Le Mans in an LMP1, LMP2 or GT car and the mixed class field.ash73 said:
The GT40 was the only reason I bought that pack, I haven't even got round to driving it yet. As a general request could we try some older cars? I'm not really into modern projectiles. Maybe mix it up a bit, everyone likes different things.
Sure. To be honest I had modern downforce cars so this challenge wouldn't be my first choice. I just can't get my head around how much grip they generate (even in a game)! Next week I was thinking about using The Green Hell so, how about this... According to RSR WR the Lotus 72D will lap in 6:32 and the Ferrari 312T in 6:29 - how about a free choice challenge with these two. Pick the one that suits your style of driving better.

What steering wheels are you guys using? I'm at the point now where the controler just isn't cutting it any more so need a wheel & seat. Just don't know which one.
Interested to see what you are all using
I have a Logitech G27 and love it. You can set its rotation at up to 900 degrees; it has three pedals, so you can simulate a clutch; and it has a six speed gearstick as well as paddles. You can put the gearstick on either side too as it's completely separate. Being a Logitech, the build quality is superb and it's lasted me 6 years without any issues. The only change I've made is to upgrade the brake pedal to a stiffer spring so I can practise LFB for driving my real life track car. I've used a variety of wheels, including one in a professional simulator I've had coaching in, and yes, the more expensive ones are better, but I've never come home from such a session, used my G27 and wished I had a better wheel.Interested to see what you are all using

Is that article inferring that the sound will be 5:1 and therefore more than just the present stereo? I have a 7:1 system, which is awesome for games that support it (e.g. Skyrim), but not many do sadly.
