Having played it a little more, there are gameplay irritations that don’t make sense. The forced artificial scarcity, for example... Why can I only carry 16 bullets for the pistol, or 12 for the revolver? The pistol even gets the magazines swapped over when reloading, and given they hold 10 rounds each I should be able to carry at least 20 bullets... Same for rifle ammo, etc.
Annoying, and makes no sense except to force always being low on supplies.
Can't say it bothers me, adds to the suspense and desperation Annoying, and makes no sense except to force always being low on supplies.
Same for the melee weapons breaking - fair enough for a bit of wood, but you can’t tell me you can only hit people 5 times with a metal pipe or machete before they break?

My revolver is a one shot now on humans I've upgraded it's damage, shotgun blows people to bits. The clickers and all those big heavily infected bds need to be killed with fire!!!
Clickers are sneak/stab, but those big buggers do need burning or blowing up!ETA: have got today off, hoping to make some proper progress in the game.

Or, there are people who loved the first game and are annoyed about the misleading trailers, what they did with established characters, games journalism, Naughty Dog's business practices and Sony's hypocrisy when it it comes to censorship
There were 5000 negative reviews within half a day of release. Are they really all about the poor game play, i doubt it. I thought people left game reviews on how the game actually plays, seem different nowadays then.
Bad reviews for ''Naughty Dog's business practices and Sony's hypocrisy'' FFS, just don't buy the game.
I have just finished the game. It took me around 30 hours, I played it on medium.
Bad reviews in the first day are just fake, as it wouldn’t be possible to finish the game.
Someone commented they canceled there preorder? Because they read the leaks, that’s just crazy can’t you play it and make your own mind up?
It’s a stunning game, the maps and weapons have been updated and expanded well.
The story is Great. Luckily I avoid the leaks.
As if you play the game and let the story unravel, everything that happens makes sense.
What Abby did was totally justified.
10/10 game.
You really just need to play it, not listen to leaks and people morning about Abby being trans.
She isn’t...

Sounds like a pain in the arse! But then it's been a while since I was the kind of gamer who did the hardest difficulty level, for better or worse.
I ended up downgrading the difficulty level. Not really because the difficulty was too hard (though it was very tricky), but the absolute lack of resources just made everything a chore. You would end up in a room with four infected and two shamblers, and you couldn't sprint through as the door on the other side needed barging, and you had no bullets and no health, and it was almost impossible to do. Or you just ended up sprinting through everything which wasn't much fun. It was a bit ridiculous finding a box of ammo and only getting a single bullet. I downgraded after taking about two hours to get through one encounter as I started with zero health and zero bullets and there were dogs that were very difficult to kill without alerting everyone to your presence. Finished it yesterday, TLOU 1 was one of my all time favourite games.... and I really loved this one too! Amazing graphics and story, and not being a huge gamer (I’m a bit st as a player is what I mean) I really liked the way if you died you were back in the action quickly. I thought the story was brilliant, and found myself thinking about it when not playing it.
Yes it was shocking in parts but overall I think it put it’s point across as a story very well indeed.

There's a well reasoned discussion on the game and the reviews here www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFHzQ0M86nQ Necessarily full of spoilers though.

For some people I think the gameplay is more important than the story.Taking me a while to get into this, It's hard not to compare it to the first game but it's still the last of us so that's a good thing. Reached Seattle last night and the visuals are stunning. I rarely play games these days so set on one of the lighter difficulty levels. Even then I'm finding some of the combat a little tricky.

I'm in santa barbera now... Enjoying the story
My daughter pointed out to me last night that you can fine tune the difficulty. This has really opened it up for me and now it feels much more like the original. About 8 hours in now and really enjoying it.I'm in santa barbera now... Enjoying the story
I have no interest in playing Abby, especially for several hours, and no amount of backstory for her is going to change that.
That’s not to say that I think Joel is a good guy, or that beloved characters should be immortal, but expecting me to “grow to understand” a character I’m forced to play when I actively hate them for a significant proportion of that experience is poor, shock-driven storytelling.
At best what she did should’ve been the denouement of the story, when you might actually have conflicted feelings about the outcome.

Avoiding major spoilers... I’m now playing Abby. I’m a lot less enthusiastic about it, purely because the game has been excellent at setting things up for us to hate her.
Seeing her back story explains why she did what she did, and I’ll be interested to see what happens when the story comes out of flashback and gets back to the games present, where they meet again.
I still fully intend to kill her if I’m given the option, mind you!

I can’t understand why you wouldn’t want to play the game and see how the story unfolds so you can give a valid opinion when you’ve finished it,as I keep saying it’s a game,I don’t get all the angst. That’s not to say that I think Joel is a good guy, or that beloved characters should be immortal, but expecting me to “grow to understand” a character I’m forced to play when I actively hate them for a significant proportion of that experience is poor, shock-driven storytelling.
