PS4 GTA V Online (Vol 2)
Discussion
My download sat waiting for a few minutes then bazzed down at about 190mbs in a few minutes. And then I instantly won the Thrax thing on the wheel of fortune

In the brief bit of time i spent playing I did the wheel of fortune thing and got some crappy item of clothing I didn't even bother looking at. Played a few of the games too. The fruit machines are a laborious waste of time, the horse racing is a boring slog too once you've played a couple of times and whilst I had more luck on the tables that also got boring quick. Like in real life it seems a fantastic waste of time and money!

I haven't had the chance to log on yet, but it sounds like I've missed frustration with the servers. I'll give it a go on Saturday.
We tried racing round Panic Stations to compare the newest supercar with the Vagner and Deveste Eight, but everyone was floating. Every time anyone got close both cars went haywire (Bob tried to overtake me at one point and overshot the corner, but for me he was 10 foot in the air).So they dropped another small update which I think is to fix some of the connection issues along with a couple of glitches that were going around. I took the opportunity to give the new sports cars a better and more scientific go (since His Broughyness hasn't done them to my knowledge). I used Vespucci Dreams, which is quite a tight course, and then Panic Stations.
Vespucci Dreams
Itali GTO: 53.789
Paragon R: 53.956
Issi Sport: 54.622
Comet SR: 56.424
8F Drafter: 58.225
Elegy Retro: 58.227
Omnis: 59.595
Jester Classic: 59.828
Panic Stations:
Itali GTO: 2.03.359 (Not Clean)
Paragon R: 2.03.627
Comet SR: 2.07.198
8F Drafter: 2.10.434 (Not Clean)
Issi Sport: 2.17.287
So the Itali is still a little bouncy, but it's a lot more manageable, and it's a rocket ship. Fast, agile, and handles great. Removing the flags hasn't completely changed it but it's a lot more capable.
Paragon R... really wasn't expecting this. Stock version felt almost nebulous. Nothing special. Hop it up and this thing is -brutal-.It only tops out at about 120 but how composed it is through the corners meant I got very close to a scrappy Itali lap. Fantastic, fantastic car I totally underrated.
Issi Sport was faster than anticipated, grips like nothing in the world and is a hoot to drive. But the top speed is only 105 so it simply isn't suitable for stuff like Panic Stations or most stunt races.
8F Drafter - I was sceptical about this because it's so stiff, but again, once you boost the acceleration it's really grunty, I would say it's a very good free-roam car. Feels good to drive around the city.
Edit: And for good measure, I threw some Off Roaders around Field Trip (R* made track through the oil fields, great fun actually) to test the new Caracara.
Trophy Truck: 1.08.202
Kamacho: 1.08.704
Caracara 4x4: 1.12.146
Freecrawler: 1.15.377
Haven't tried its' rock crawling abilities yet but it's not worth it if you want to throw it around the track. Doesn't have the nimbleness of a Trophy Truck or the brute speed of a Kamacho.

So my idea for Sunday night event is as follows:
Standard race playlist at 8:30 (one of Joyrider's or Eased's, but maybe with a couple of offroad tracks thrown in. Or I can make one)
At 8:00 the plan is, we meet at the Casino. Cash in all the chips and withdraw 5000 so we're all at the same level. This is qualifying - whomever gets the most chips by the end of 15 minutes gets a 5 second head start in the race.
How's that sound? :P

I tried the GTAforums recommended horse race betting strategy last night. Bet on the first horse if the odds are better than evens, back out and go back in if they aren't because the odds change (actually the horses change). Apparently horse no.1 wins 40% of the time. I started with about 50k chips and ended up with just over 100k but I think that was mostly luck rather than evidence of the payout percentage.
Did win the Thrax on the wheel spin so I was happy.

There's apparently been a glitch running where you can put the minimum bet in and win the maximum payout.
You need quick fingers to make it work and I've not tried it myself though.
I’ve made over $2m with this ‘perk’.You need quick fingers to make it work and I've not tried it myself though.
Videos can be found on youtube but the general idea is that you choose a horse, leave the bet as $100 and hover over the place bet button. Move cursor so that its to the right but still on the button, press UP on dpad and X at the same time release and press and hold X immediately and for the duration of the race. If your horse wins you get the equivalent winnings of that if you had placed $10k but its only cost you $100.
If you lose you’ve only lost $100. You wont always win but when you do the minimum amount you win is $20k for a $100 bet. Maximum i have won in one bet is $260k
