Anyway me drive car in game fast-ish as I can, leave clever stuff to Mark... ugg smile

Elite Dangerous in VR is fandabbydozey, it's a bit complicated but good fun.

I bought PC1 through these guys a few months ago (not bought anything else) and all has been fine. You can pay using Paypal, so no need to give over card details. I know it looks a bit of a scam, but they seem to be genuine. Saves a few quid. https://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/project-cars-2-pc-...

Thanks to everyone who filled in the survey and basically everyone who responded is buying Project Cars 2, with the vast majority getting it on pre-order.

With that in mind, we'll be switching to PC2 on the release date of 22nd September.

There is a bit of a proviso in that I've been assured by Born2BSlow that this stuff will hang together, but in the event that it doesn't we might have to have a last-minute re-think.

So, the new championship is up on the website, BUT DO NOT DO RACES 2-6, as these will be PC2, and I will delete any laps done prior to the 22nd September. Note that the league that you are in shown for the next championship is provisional because the previous one hasn't completed.

All clear wink

Sounds good Mark, although we may have to have a little change in race 2 and 5 as looking at the car list for pcars 2 the megane 265 and standard AMG Sls are no longer.

I haven't assured you of anything old bean. I've provided information which could be useful which frankly means bog all to me, Mr Happy will probably understand judging by his utterly confusing post about erm something techy...

That said there was also some discussion in the dev forum about PC2 udp not being fully functional at launch which i did mention in my post on Monday at the bottom of page 56...

No pressure though eh smile I will now retreat to a safe distance while Mark's head explodes...

That's OK, we'll be on PC1 UDP within PC2 at the start, if you get what I mean.

We can give it a whirl, if it doesn't work we can whip back to PC1 or skip a week..

No problem, I've already tested it with PC1 udp and it works so we should be good to go on that. It's just the switch to PC2 udp I was worried about, and if there are any advantages or improvements to be had. The quicker we do switch then there is less chance of anybody using PC1 and it's much quicker laptimes to gain an advantage smile

Well done new joiner Djbuzz07 who won the Real-Time race after a to-and-fro battle with Tronneh and Born2BSlow. Tronneh remains in the lead in League 1 and realistically can't be caught now. Dpb1975 and Rob still heading for relegation as they've dropped off the radar. simon P definitely going to be promoted out of League 2 and Ollerton57 pretty much certain to be joining him.

andy_b wins the handicapped race and moves up 4 places into the lead for the championship. andy_b and Tronneh battling for the championship win, with Matt S and Ollerton57 in with an outside chance.

On to Silverstone for the final race of the season.

Well done to djbuzz and Tronneh, I couldn't match that...I've been getting my PC2 fix this week as I lose all access now until release...

Did an RSR online 60minute race tonight, qualified well in 4th, started 3rd but spun on the first lap down to last...got back to 4th and then it all went pear shaped, the guy i was fighting to pass spun in front of me at the first turn and i couldn't miss him, massive damage...on my way back to the pits I had 2 other huge shunts, then got a pit speeding penalty...long pit stop for repairs...back out, another little bump into the barriers and the engine was overheating so back to pits for repairs, rinse and repeat. After my 3rd pitstop I hit the pit limiter button by mistake and got dq'd for speeding in the pit lane (spectated the last 20 minutes)...

On the plus side had some quick races after and fell in love with the Ford Escort RS1600 at Cadwell GP...eventful evening...roll on the 22nd smile

You can take the boy out of IT tech, but you'll never take IT tech out of the boy! (admittedly I'm a code monkey these days though!)

I won't mention will mention below the steps I took to fix the text to speech on Windows 7!!

Yes, I can imagine Windows 7 is probably a bit of a stretch for the Visual Studio pre-installed components

(Caution - geekery ahead!)

To be honest, it wasn't too bad - I've got VS2015 myself so spun up a console app and had a play with system.speech.synthesis to see if it would work (since it worked through the control panel for me), and after a few lines of code, I had the dulcet tones of Anna chatting away through my speakers.

That lead me to seeing if there were any differences between the installed voices between 7/8 and 10, and it appears that Anna doesn't exist in Windows 8+, this was confirmed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_text-to-sp... Exploring further, I downloaded the TTS voices from Microsoft and tweaked around until I found one that works after spending more time in Regedit than would be generally recommended.

After a bit of process of elimination (guessing you'd only be using the en-US or en-UK voices), I downloaded the lot from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.a... and set about tweaking. Eventually got it working with Hazel, after renaming the server TTS speech to 'Microsoft Hazel Desktop', which the wiki page above refers to and she happily now calls me an utter cock womble or worse on every lap!

The wiki page mentions that Hazel doesn't exist on 10 now either, so I'm not sure if it will work for people on Windows 10. I did notice though, that in my console app - just calling the .speak() function would use whatever TTS language is set to default in the control panel, as it worked with Anna to start with then Hazel after I'd tweaked it. Maybe whatever TTS interface you're using works differently?

I may not be fast, but I'll admit I'm a bit of a geek! wink
