If you think about it though at £130 the collectors almost makes sense (if you're into collector edition stuff which I'm not) if you buy the game and all DLC at release day prices you'll be knocking on the door of a £100 at a guess. You get the book artwork, steel case, model car and VIP access to e-sports events. If you are going to use that VIP pass then it's actually pretty reasonable imo.

I can't see me travelling around e-sports events unless I can get alien quick and become a competitor though. I'm not much of a spectator.

Looking forward to the game, not looking forward to finding out if I have to re-code everything.

Well after 6 weeks racing it all came down to Matt S trying to find 0.4 secs right up to the midnight deadline. He didn't quite find it, so I take a glorious championship victory, although if xjay hadn't got the hump with the Snetterton/BMW combo it may have been a different story. Matt S and Rob take 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In the fastest time league, xjay was the winner having sewn it up a while back but Rob and Born2BSlow closed the gap significantly to finish 2nd and 3rd.

Anyway, onwards and forwards, next championship is on and handicaps have been updated

Mark

Wish I hadn't watched the McLaren vid now. Not sure if I can contain myself before PC2 comes out. Looks absolutely amazing and hoping my new 1080 will show it in all its glory. Can't wait.

Good season Mark, just wanted to say thanks for running all this, your efforts are very much appreciated!

What DR said Mark, and congratulations on the win...

DR you will not be disappointed with PC2, I'm already hooked on rallyx, cant get the hang of the ice track though. I'm planning on putting a 1080ti in my new build come November's Black Friday deals...I'm really getting annoyed with the old one now, I really want to be able to turn up the super sampling when oculus get around to replacing my sensor, I can't believe I've still got 6 months to wait.

I think I got to the stage where I was risking throwing the controller through the TV trying to find those 0.4secs....

Just to clarify the rules for everyone. If it's a tie on points for 1st, 2nd or 3rd then I do a check back on the races and count up the 1st places, if still level count up the 2nd places, etc, etc. So in the last championship, if Northern Monkey had got level with me on points then he would have won because he'd won a race whereas I've won diddly.

All clear????

Oh and thanks for the thanks everyone by the way :-)

I reckon a 1080ti will get you past x2 on super sampling with +90FPS, will look lovely.

As for PC2, I'm a bit wary of the off-road stuff. Surely they can't give us amazing track/road physics and off-road realism in the same game. Are we in danger of anything getting watered down? How's it looking so far?

Having said that, I refunded Dirt Rally because I couldn't get around corners, so maybe I'd be happy with a watered down, more arcadey off-road experience after all. (Loved old Colin games!),

Interested to hear your thoughts on PC2 as well b2b.

I hope it's the same sort of thing, I can't imagine they would move away from the simulation side of things.
Live For Speed managed to have fairly good on and off road tyre physics.

Out of interest guys, and off topic, but do any of you guys follow the BTCC and attend any of the events?

My system is knocking on a bit and the software is not optimised as yet so i can't give a full on review of performance etc. What I can say is on the BMW / Snetterton combo i ran PC1 vs PC2 back to back. The handling feels much more natural, it slides without that floaty feeling you get sometimes, and it's easier to control the slide with the throttle. RallyX is awesome, completely different to LFS because the cars are so different. I could try the escort rs tonight as that's similar to some of the lfs cars back in the day. PC2 is scary quick and difficult to get corner entry right. Sometimes you're almost entering the corner backwards, but from what I've seen that's fairly realistic lol. I can't get the hang of the handbrake tbh, so i'm relying on the pendulum effect to get the rear round (and I'm not very good at it).

When you go from tarmac to dirt to gravel you can feel the grip levels change, it's pretty impressive...I'll drive the 720s as well tonight and get back to you on how awesome it is smile

Always enjoyed it but don't really follow it much - it's a whole day of man telly which won't fly in my household!

Managed to see a few of the support classes at Thruxton on TV at the weekend though and really want to go to a race day now. It's proper racing, none of this F1 follow my leader stuff.

Only ask as I work in the paddock and could probably sort a closer look at one of the cars if any of you are at an event

Went to the Silverstone round of BTCC last year as I know someone who had some free tickets going spare. I'm just a fan of racing so I'm not fussed about the "atmosphere" and prefer to watch on TV so I get to see all the action (I know I'm weird). Recording it in HD fills the ruddy box though so I don't even watch that often. If I went I'd just be gutted I couldn't have a go lol.
