Since buying Rocket League when it was released on Switch, I've placed very little else. So so so addictive and well worth the money. I did purchase Bayonetta 2 as well, which is really good but I find myself struggling to play anything else over Rocket League.
Is Rocket league as good single player as is multiplayer?

I've got Zelda and Mario Kart. Zelda is so good I've scarcely played Mario Kart. I'm absolutely blown away by how good Zelda is!
I've completed the main story of the game, am now looking for suitable alternatives. A well deserved Game of The Year 2017

Is there a single player mode? Do you practice mode or playing as a duo/ team with randoms?

I just play online tbh where there's multiple modes, such as 3 v 3, 2 v 2, 1 v 1, tournaments, uncompetitive etc etc etc

Mario Kart comes with everything unlocked, it makes single player a bit pointless - we only play with people round.

Zelda is rather brilliant, Mario is great fun too (and can be sort of 2 player co-op with one player controlling the hat)

You can just work your way up the categories and cups in Mario Kart, you know. Just pretend it’s like the original.

What happened to the Nintendo club thing where you paid a subscription and got to download different games each month?

Had an email yesterday about it. At the start there will be 20 nes games plus online play for £17.99 per year. Seems good to me.

Any idea when it’s starting? It was supposed to start a while ago (I think) seems a great deal to me too.

Apologies for the late reply, it was a bit of a hectic day yesterday.

Looks like September this year,

How about Nintendo get their arses in gear and add a few decent apps, starting with a web browser, Netflix and YouTube.

Why do people want that? I can't think of anytime I'd ever want to browse the web on the Switch?

Because it's a bigger screen than my iPhone, my kids usually have both my iPads and it's more convenient than using my Surface.

We've taken the switch away a couple of times on holiday and it's handy on the flight, but it would be more useful as a media player as well.

Netflix and some other apps would be good though.

Are these any good in terms of family/group play - like the original Wii was ?

Thinking of getting one for the lounge (although I believe there are rumours of a new hardware release this year).

Super Mario Party might be what you are looking for.
