These robot dinosaurs aren't half hard to kill are they, I have died more times than I care to remember.

My first approach was just throw everything you have at them, only works on the really low level stuff. I've just started to read the weakness guides before any sort of engagement and equip weapons that deal the highest damage, getting better. I love that the game just leaves you to it and work it all out for yourself, it's actually interesting reading how other people approach different machines.

I'll admit that I also thought I'd have a pop at that Thunderjaw on the way to Meriden. It did not go well.

Finally got round to picking this up and I'm really enjoying it so far. Who knew that fighting mechanical dinosaurs with a bow & arrow could be so much fun!! I've died a few times but, have been mostly able to deal with everything by using a combination of shock tripcaster traps and blindly rolling around on the floor whilst occasionally getting the odd fire arrow off at one of the targets.

I think I'm on my way to Meridian at the moment so, will be sure to check out that Thunderjaw en route. I won't be taking him on though, currently only a level 15 (which I assume is relatively low).

Simian, tell me some more about arrow upgrades,.

Long time no see, Speckle!

What specifically would you like to know?

All the arrows are useful for very different reasons, and the skill that lets you double and triple load your bow for a huge increase in burst damage is extremely useful. Plus, you'll need the best bow you have the shards to buy.

Well, I can just about afford a Shadow bow but, wondered if armour might be a better option. I have used the Hunters bow pretty much exlusively. I have the double shot unlocked but forget to use it about 85% of the time. Is the long range bow a good option, I don't have one of those yet?

My loadout is typically a tripcaster, a ropecaster, a sling and the Hunters bow.

Shadow Hunter Bow is fantastic, it's the most used item in my inventory, even if it doesn't excel. It's an all round tool.

Sharpshooter bow is a good back up, but I generally find it much more situational - it can pick off parts from machines at extended range, inflict huge, huge damage, but struggles against faster moving foes, against those at closer ranges and against groups.

I picked up a Shadow Hunter bow last night and it is a very solid upgrade, loving the hardpoint arrows. I have a purple tear mod and a blue damage mod on it and my damage output has increased massively as a result.. I'm keen to try the sharpshooter bow and will probably sacrifice the sling for it for now.

It really is a very addictive game!

I've just finished this, it was fantastic. Definitely worth a play.

The tearblast arrows make combat against even tough enemies pretty trivial but they are great fun to use. I did find the ropecaster a bit naff and the tripcaster, I don't think I ever used that after the hunting lodge section. The shadow bow with the triple arrow perk and hardpoint arrows is devastating.

It's a bit of a shame that the power armour you see at the start of the game can't be unlocked until you're pretty much right at the end either, even if it does break the game a bit.

I'm nowhere near finished I don't think (I've just beaten the deathbringer and now have to climb a corrupted long neck or something)

Glad the tearblast arrows are good as I've finally bought a shadow sharpshooter bow (those have tearblast arrows, right?). I quite enjoy the ropecaster and the tripcaster can also be useful when fighting in large open spaces.

I'm actually pleased that the shadow weave armour isn't available to me yet, it keeps things nice & challenging. Still loving it though, well worth the price!

Game of the Year for me and the ending should set up some nice DLC or even a whole new game. There's so many ways they could go with it.

It will undoubtedly become a major exclusive franchise for Sony, they won't miss the chance to make a stload of cash here.

Well, if the sequels are of similar quality, they are very are welcome to my cash!

Killed my first Thunderjaw today thumbup

It was a slightly scrappy affair and I came extremely close to dying at one point, I genuinely didn't expect to kill it on my first attempt, I was just planning to try a few things out to see what was and what wasn't effective. A few AI warriors turned up at the end so, they may be what swung it in my favour.

Immensely satisfying though.

Couldn't resist saving the video (first minute or so is a bit shaky for some reason) - it isn't slick, it isn't pretty but, it is a victory biggrin

I think most of us would echo that sentiment.

I wasn't expecting much from the game. Sure, the E3 demo looked great, but Guerrilla Games are known for a technically excellent but creatively dull FPS shooter. Who would have thought they had this in them?

It was a very pleasant shock to find that Horizon was actually utterly brilliant.

Finished the main story tonight. Really enjoyable final mission and I didn't die.

I played most the game without knowing that if your press R2 it gives you a strong spear attack, that was a game changer for me as I was killing humans and Machines in 2 or 3 hits. The tear arrows are also a fave of mine for blowing off the machines weapons and using them against them which is very effective against thunder jaws, so to is trip casters infact I pretty much trip cast thunder jaws now and have them down in a few minutes.

Over all I am very pleased with the game and I am equally pleased with the story. It kind of explains the Terminator films (Skynet equiverlant) better then the Terminator film does lol. I know its unrelated to the Terminator but I think the story does put its own spin on computers/machines taking over.

Now I have to decide if to carry on and try go Platinum or just put it in the shelf and forget about it. I have only platinumed 1 game before.

I can't be far away from finishing the main story, just a few more sessions and it'll be done. I have no desire to stop playing though so, I think I'll carry on for a bit and mop up all the side missions I missed along the way.

I've been doing this too - not sure how far I am from the end but suspect it's close, so have been going around the map collecting literally everything and doing all the side missions as I don't really want it to end - it's very rare that I do that

I must admit I was a bit surprised at how quick the final missions of the story came near the end. I took me a total of 43 hours to finish. That is with all Bandit camps, Cauldrons and the red areas with the Machines (Forgot its name) completed. I think I have done most the sides as I didn't skip any along the way as I wanted to be a high enough level to finish the story. I am level 41

I did have a look at the trophies online and there seem to be loads I have not done. Such as find all Vantage points, Over ride all tall necks and Destroy all wooden graizer statues. Still plenty to do but with out the bonus of a story now.

I've got absolutely tonnes left to do. I've completed about 40% (still have a few story missions to complete) and, whilst I haven't rushed anything, nor have I gone out of my way to complete every side quest going. I've only cleared one cauldron, a couple of corrupted areas and three tallnecks for example.

Plenty left to get my teeth into thumbup

Hmmm, I wonder if I can drag it out 'til Destiny 2 scratchchin

Getting all the Cauldrons done as early as possible is the best thing I did. Having the ability to overide most machines and letting them fight for you works a treat as it saves you ammo and makes it easier especially when there are 3 machines together like most the time.Just hide in the grass, whistle one over and bang, he fights the others while you just sit in the grass waiting and undetected. smile
