Thanks I'll add you tomorrow.I'm ....nosuchuser....
Starting to get to grips with it I think. Managed to survive until I was shot in the back in 8th Place. Only 2 kills but 1 was with a Kar 98 with a headshot somebody looting in a building.
Managed 4th last night despite terrible lag freezing the game at times, mostly by grabbing a boat and cowering offshore. Even grabbed a care package whilst offshore, Groza and ghillie suit, which were handy till I got too impatient crossing an open area to the last circle... always my downfall.
Also 1st pan kill
Also 1st pan kill
Anyone good at troubleshooting?
PUBG played fine on my laptop on high settings a couple of months back when it first came out but then stopped playing it. I've since reset laptop etc, updated drivers, bought a 144hz screen etc. Reinstalled the game yesterday and now my laptop overheats and turns itself off (into sleep) when I try to play. GPU and CPU get to 85c just in the menu, 90+ in game then cuts out! Only way to make the game playable is at 720p on 'very low'!
Laptop is 1070gtx with i7-6700HQ so has plenty of meat to it. The game selects Ultra setting on original install based on hardware but turns off at 20 seconds on these settings due to heat.
Not sure what to do? How do you even limit fps? I think maybe the game is running at super high fps and my cpu/gpu can't cope. I have a 144hz monitor, is it trying to match my monitor fps?

Running at super high FPS? The laptop will only run at what it will run at. If your laptop is shutting down due to overheating it's more than likely that there is dust or dirt blocking the fans and airways. Try giving it a good clean with a hoover.PUBG played fine on my laptop on high settings a couple of months back when it first came out but then stopped playing it. If this doesn't work your CPU or GPU may need a re-paste. Unfortunately due to their small space limitation laptops can suffer from heat issues when gaming. What make model is it? It may need a repaste of the CPU and\or GPU to get temperatures down but this isn't easy if you don't know what your doing. A 1070gtx suggests its quite new, perhaps send it back?
I liked it at first but got bored of it pretty quickly tbh, probably played it for about 3 weeks. There is only 1 map (albiet pretty big). The game definitely has potential but what's there at the moment get's old pretty quickly, there is only so many times I can run across the same field before it gets boring.

Because the plane and the wind are fking noisy:
1: Download nircmd and install
2: Download Autohotkey and install - make sure it's integrated into the shell
3: Right click on desktop and choose 'New' > 'Autohotkey script'
4: Edit the script, delete all the guff in there and paste all of the below text into the new script:
5: Save the script as whatever you want to call it, right click and compile
Next time you play, double click the resultant exe created before starting the game and enjoy using NumPad Minus to reduce the ingame volume @25% per press and NumPad Plus to increase the volume @50% per press.
Thank me later and enjoy talking to the squad as you skydive..
In the last patch (or the one before) they added ctrl+m as 'mute all' so you can press that now whilst in the plane or sky diving.1: Download nircmd and install

SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.

I've been debating getting this game for a while, I have a group of friends who play it and they seem to think it's good. They also seem to think the price will end up rising in the future so now would be a good time to get it.
Is it worth it?
I'd say its worth it, i wouldn't worry about the price going up though, in their official FAQs they state:Is it worth it?
Is the price going to change when PUBG comes out of Early Access?
The game will remain to be at the current price even after Early Access.

I have just bought this game after a recommendation from some work mates.
I have a couple of questions about the squad gameplay;
1) max squad size?
2) how do you keep with your squad mates when skydiving in to the map?
3) can you delay the skydive to see where other enemies are going?
I'm looking forward to the team aspect. I have previously (and still do) play "squad" the multiplayer war 'simulation.' When you are in a good squad it's brilliant fun.

2) Voice coms mostly. You can issue basic commands like highlighting waypoints on the map and hope your squaddies follow but from what I've seen it's just someone shouts jump and they all jump out at the same location then use voice chat to say meet up at blue house in this town etc.
3) You chose when to out when you hit F so you can jump out where you like. If you jump out later you can usually see parachutes popping. While skydiving you speed up if you push forward and slow down if you push back so you can slow down your ascent a little. You can also chose to pop your parachute early if you want which means you can slowly ascend and look around. However it really does pay to get down on the ground and start looting ASAP. You can use the alt free look command to look around while you are skydiving so you can still get down quickly while keeping an eye on where the enemy are.

You can see them on the map "Press M" and minimap
3) can you delay the skydive to see where other enemies are going?
the plane travels across the map and you can jump out whenever takes your fancy, depending on the flight path, people usually jump out near large cities and other popular areas, with 4/5 AFK players being chucked out at the end of the planes path. I would recommend, picking a central compound 70-80% of the way through the planes path for least players around you.

Ahh I've been running that script since day 1 (Well day 2) since the noise was incredibly annoying on my speakers. Even worse now I've switched to a decent headset...Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
