I did enjoy taking the Sauber onto Le Sarthe the other day and started using the clutch and gear lever. Great fun. Also after watching many YouTube vids of Tigney, TheKie amongst others, I've started to enjoy the cockpit view whereas usually I used the bumper cam. I still think that the cockpit view in Assetto Corsa and Project Cars 2 seem more airy compared to GT Sport.

I always use cockpit view in AC and hood view in GTS. Megane Trophy doing well at Suzuka today, it's going to own Brands GP smile

How does AI going 5 seconds a lap faster translate to "get good"?

Please tell me from your years of sim racing experience?
You're not winning. You need to improve.

I've played and completed every GT series title. Always the same. Be consistently fast. You're blaming the game for your lack of ability. Get good.
Right, let's put some numbers against this. I've just done this challenge with an N100 Swift on the standard tyre, TCS 0 and Brakes set +1 It took a couple of goes. The AI fastest lap was 1:01.2 and the race winning time was 8:06-8:07. My fastest lap was 59.5 (in a race I didn't win) and 59.8 in the race I did. First lap 1:05.5, rest were 1:00 to 1:01. I overtook the leader, an AMG A45, into the last corner on the brakes. Max handicap bonus and clean race bonus received.

What you're saying is that you caught the AI in plenty of time (at least before the last lap) and then it overtook and you couldn't keep up after that. So, you were doing better than 59s laps with an N100 Swift (fair play) and the AI then started doing <55s? Your game must be very different to mine as the race winning time seemed to stay relatively constant. I'll wheel out an N300 or whatever later and see what the AI does with that.

I am saying exactly that yes.

No idea why this happens, but I caught the leader on the 6th lap, passed him and then some guy in the midfield did a lap miles faster than my best lap.

Post your times and settings up.

From what you've posted you're doing 57s laps in a N100?

ETA On Sports Hard tyres?

ETA2. On Sports Soft in an N100 Swift. I'm doing 58s laps. Finished 1st in 7:57 and 2nd place didn't cross the line in time to record the time. It was about a 5 sec gap when I last looked. Fastest lap was mine, a 58.2

Can't replicate your apparent issue. The AI cars appear to lap fairly consistently at about 1:00 to 1:01 per lap. Seems right given the 20+ second head start the leader gets.

Will try a N300 on SS.

ETA3. N300 Civic on SS. Finished 1st in 7:14. Second place was >18 secs behind with the gap growing consistently. Fastest lap, mine, 53.2

GT sport is £13.49 at the moment if you buy the online version, during the "days of play" promotion during the E3 week. Seems a good deal if you haven't got it already and are half interested. I will be investing shortly.

Is anyone using the VR headset for this?

If so, is it worth it?

I've contemplated it but can't justify the outlay. I understand VR modes are very limited on GTS which I don't really understand. Half of it isn't even driving it's looking round a car

Track limits at La Sarthe are, er, tight! And the penalties are fierce. I ended up just driving around the middle.

I've not tried that track yet, just doesn't appeal to me, DG in the Clio has been good! Though two wheels on the grass at the chicane will get you a penalty.

It's not the most exciting. Just loads of straights and chicanes everywhere with a wiggly bit near the end. Ok in gr1, bit of a slog in todays gr3

Are we bored of Le Mans and of the game in general at the moment?

They really need to add a fourth Daily race such as a 30-45 minute endurance race. I've hardly touched the game within the past two weeks but then again I've been too busy to play.

Loving the Megane Trophy at the mo. Has so much grip.

The proper FIA events are being rolled out now but I think it's taken so long that many people will have moved on. Maybe the FIA stuff will bring them back, not sure.

Recently I said I have to join a lobby so will try that at some point soon. Never tried the FIA or Manufacturers events yet but not confident at the moment to compete.

I just bought it in the sale, I'm just working on the licenses and single player races so far.

I tried to do one of the online daily races but it was on a track I didn't know so I was hopeless laugh.

Figure I'll stick to single player for a bit until I know all the tracks a bit better.

There are the track events within the Campaign section and you can get familiar with the tracks by sectors and the full track at the end. It's good fun and sometimes try them again to better my times.

God knows how the top ten can be so quick but I can't see if they use traction control, stability management or counter assist.

It's still the game I play the most but it's losing its edge. I need to have something to work towards like an organised championship or endurance event to keep it fresh for me. Im doing a Super GT champ at the moment using a Z3 in the GT300 category. I had fun creating a livery for it (sponsored by a biscuit for some reason ) as well.

Some use it some don't...there's a thread about it on GTplanet, I've used CSA in the N200 races at Tokyo, it did seem to help a bit, tried it at Le Mans in the Golf but didn't make any difference for me, not using it today on the Oval.

Zed, we'll have to have an evening for the GTA crew so we can all race together in our own lobby - Not switched GT on for months - You'll be used to us, and will even have the added bonus of Alex running you off the track like normal
