There are the track events within the Campaign section and you can get familiar with the tracks by sectors and the full track at the end. It's good fun and sometimes try them again to better my times.

God knows how the top ten can be so quick but I can't see if they use traction control, stability management or counter assist.
Some use it some don't...there's a thread about it on GTplanet, I've used CSA in the N200 races at Tokyo, it did seem to help a bit, tried it at Le Mans in the Golf but didn't make any difference for me, not using it today on the Oval.
I don't use any assists which is maybe where I'm going wrong at times smile I saw a video on YouTube with a fella wondering why some people were 15-20 seconds quicker at one of the Willow Springs tracks (in the top ten) and they were basically cutting the last couple of corners which the game didn't pick up on!

It's an oval today eh? Damn!

Recently I said I have to join a lobby so will try that at some point soon. Never tried the FIA or Manufacturers events yet but not confident at the moment to compete.
The first FIA race is at La Sarthe in Gr.1

I can't do a clean lap without a shortcut pen. certain kerbs are pens, others aren't. Certainly if you drive the real life lines you're racking up pens. I actually think the fastest times include a shortcut pen that's "worked off" during the lap.

I can't get on with Le Sarthe. I've heard that you can rack up penalties if you go over a certain line at a certain speed. Go over that same line slower and you'll be ok!!

Almost certainly! There were a few people in the Golf races just going flat through the chicane sand traps, it's not difficult to work off those penalties. I personally don't see the point, ok if you're hotlapping and it gains an advantage..you're only kidding yourself smile But in a race! The whole point of a massed start race is to pit yourself against others.

I don't worry too much about qualifying times, total race time is where the glory lies!
The ovals are great...sometimes smile

Don't try too hard in qualifying for the oval, your reward for pole is you get to start on the rev limiter in 1st gear, while everyone else starts in the meat of the powerband in 2nd smile

I just bought it in the sale, I'm just working on the licenses and single player races so far.

I tried to do one of the online daily races but it was on a track I didn't know so I was hopeless laugh.

Figure I'll stick to single player for a bit until I know all the tracks a bit better.
Zed, we'll have to have an evening for the GTA crew so we can all race together in our own lobby - Not switched GT on for months - You'll be used to us, and will even have the added bonus of Alex running you off the track like normal
Aye, that would be cool.

I can tell it's been a while since I've played this type of game. Been trying to tune a car as it had become unmanageable with the amount of power it had, fiddled with the suspension, brakes and LSD a bit and managed to make it worse laugh.

A question to all you GT Sport players. Have the DR rules changed since the past couple of updates? I ask as my DR seems to be going down despite finishing better than the number plastered on my car. I thought if you finished higher then expected, your DR increases or am I incorrect?

You need to finish in the top half of the race, minimum. Depending who you're racing against you may need to win just to maintain your DR.

Ah ok. Thanks Ferris. I qualified 12th out of 16 and finished 9th so that makes sense.

The last race I did was the Daily "A" race which was the modified GT86 around Tsukuba. That was good fun. I've really just been playing the Campaign part more as we as practising as a lot of the daily's don't interest me at the moment.

Today's daily's are:

Kyoto Driving Park - One make and I'm not a fan of the short circuit (the app doesn't state what vehicle it is)
Dragon Trail Gardens - Gr.3 but I don't get on with that track for some reason
Nordschleife - Gr.1 - Potential punt fest (I'm DR "B" and SR "S")

We just need more tracks as bored of the one makes around Kyoto and Tsukuba. Saying that, a new track is coming at the end of the month.

As I've stated before, I really need to join a lobby but at the moment I don't find the time to play it like I did up to May.

My PS4 broke a couple of months ago and I haven’t replaced it, I do miss GTsport even though I was spending a crazy amount of time playing.

has it changed much in the last couple of patches? I read something about tire model changes? Considering going back on the wagon with a new PS4

No tyre model changes just yet but the penalty system has been changed apparently. If you bump someone slightly you shouldn't get any penalty now whereas before you'd get a 3-5sec penalty. A couple of decent cars as well as Le Sarthe but no major changes.

I've gone from being on it for a couple of hours a day to maybe an hour a week tops - there isn't much to keep me coming back to be honest, if they gave us Spa that might rekindle my enthusiasm a bit more.

Following the Porsche 919 'Ring record I did go any buy one to see how close I could get to 5:19 - but it seems you can only tune the 919 to around 600BHP which is around half the power Porsche had for the record.

I did manage a 5:13 in the Audi LMP1 car with 987bhp though and doing that kept me entertained for a couple of evenings.

Hmmm, I may have to do something similar regarding the 'Ring lap record. To be continued smile

Ooh I haven't tried gr1 on Nordschleife yet might give qually time a go.

There is an update coming end of July. Rumours are it may contain new tyre model (and new track too - confirmed)
