Z28 is streaming some daily races from Suzuka, he mainly uses the 911, he's in the 59's, he leaves it in 2nd through the esses and then flat in 3rd up to degner, might be worth a try.
I started dropping down to 2nd for a few more corners in the 911 in first sector I think it def helps (tho I'm sure I'm on the limiter if I stay there each corner in the esses). Took a hard fought second off my time this week- but I'm still only on a 2:01 frown

100% positive a wheel is worth a chunk of time on this combo.
Wheel, and more importantly pedals, are quicker for me, and at Fuji.
I'm going to try Z28's approach and just rev the nuts off it smile

Watching the fast laps, especially in the VW VGT, I just don't have the touch to carve the smooth arcs combined with the throttle control. Gr.3 cars are really tricky now. Could really do with settings to adjust the control sensitivities. Need to get more laps in.

I took a couple of tenths off but can't crack 2:01, Suzuka is such a great track, a real challenge.

Down to 2:00.7 with three or four big twitches which must be worth some time. Replay looks reasonable but still 1.3 off my best. banghead

Hey guys, is a pad way slower than the wheels on this?I only have the DS4 pad and it feels like it's all or nothing in the corners! Very tricky! Lol
I suppose I'll just have to put up with being slow as no real room for a wheel set up.. cry

I use a pad and reckon a wheel is an advantage in most instances. Doesn't stop you from having fun with the game though and you'll find a level which is competitive for you.

There have been a few (4 I think) pad users in regional finals so it can clearly be made to work in the right hands. I generally aim to be within 1-2% of the fastest time.

Thanks Ferris. I certainly enjoy the game. I'll just get used to being non competitive! laugh

Are you using motion control with the pad? I find it easier to control than with the thumb stick

Don't worry too much about the leaderboard times, we're all way behind them...Super GT on Youtube is a ds4 user, he's competative at S/S and ferry is fast on the controller, jump into some races and see how you get on, just remember that some of the fast guys have been playing for years smile. I jumped into Kie25's lobby last night, 10 lap GR3/2 races with high tyre wear and low fuel, the exact opposite to what I normally do, good fun though and fairly clean smile

TBF, so have I! laugh I'm no racing driver though, I go into the corners either way too fast or way too slowly.. Its fun though. I just want 2 more attainable trophies (there are several i'll never get) and then i'll move onto something else as there are too many games piling up to play!

You guys using the controller are doing great. I use a G29 rim and struggled to get a 2.03 with the 911/Viper Gr3 at Suzuka yesterday.

I did the GT86 Fuji race and was doing so well but my G29 shifter would go into neutral when it blatantly snicked into gear, which was so frustrating as the shifter is quicker than changing up with the paddles.

I don’t suppose anyone here knows of a shifter from another manufacturer which can be used with the G29?

There's a thing called a drive hub, there's a video on YT of a guy using the Thrustmaster shifter with a G29. There's a 36 page thread about it on GTPlanet.

This got me thinking. I'd not heard of Super GT so went and did a search. Looking at Super GT's stats, he appears to bomb his SR now and again for some reason. Maybe to boost his numbers? The first thing I saw on YouTube was about trying to get back to A+, so maybe it's a way he generates his content. Either way, not seen him on leaderboards etc but will start keeping an eye out. The previous version of the game used to let you see who was using what.

The other thing was my A+, which several of my friends have, too. My DR is over the S threshold, where it's been for a while, but it's not something I'd thought about and I've not been doing much racing for a variety of reason. Apparently to change that back to an S again I need to do some FIA events which is a bit odd. I noticed the change in an update ages ago but hadn't looked up why. I've not done FIA events for ages, either.

Had an hour on GTS for the 1st time in a good while today.

Tried the 991GT3 at Suzuka, and it remains one of the better combinations. ran 20 laps (1'59.7). Then tried the GT86 at Fuji - the car just doesn't suit a track with long straights!

Struggling to get myself motivated for driving games at the moment.

I've watched a bit of Super GT, he's not top draw alien, but he's decent, he doesn't worry too much about his SR so he's probably had a couple of resets, as have I smile I find him entertaining to watch though, especially his new Forza stuff. I think Tidgney was saying about the S DR rating, and that you need to do FIA, I don't normally do them and I'm nowhere near S DR anyway smile I don't like the forced pit stop through tyre wear, If they want to force a pit stop, just make it mandatory in a 2 lap window.

I've done half a dozen or so races at Fuji this week and it does get a bit droneee in the 86, they have for the most part been fun though.

I'm struggling for motivation with FPS games at the moment, not even tried blops4.
