Gran Turismo Sport PS4
Discussion
I'm no slug in Project cars and Assetto Corsa but in GT Sport I drive properly, braking hard, hitting apexes, getting on the power early...and I'm getting wasted by guys who are just driving through me as ghosts, bouncing off the walls, diving up the inside and pushing me off track on the exit of corners...it's just getting ridiculous in races. I'll stick to time trialling to grind away and earn the cars now. Already getting bored though tbh.
Rattling trough corners off barriers etc definitely needs a change to slow the car more, on the nurburgring track I got passed by some guy not braking and literally pinballing off barriers.
Has anyone messed with car setup much ? The stock ones don't seem to be much cop. I've pulled the gearing down quite a bit for short tracks that helps no end, bit more rear camber, bit more toe out for the front.

As much as I want the next Gran Turismo to be ace, I just know it will end up this way. Initially the graphics go a long way to making you think the game is fantastic, however once the "wow" has worn off, you're left with a game which is quite dull - more so for those of us that don't really care for online play.Does it still do the "other cars on rails" thing where if you park on a bend they'll drive into you?
Still quite astounded there is no damage either - this is a massive part of a driving game.

I haven't played at all over the weekend, I gave up on the daily grind to get cars but it's mostly been because the weather was nice. my evenings were spent catching up on Project Cars Time Trial comps. The only mode available so far in the GT Sport Beta is online racing at fixed times, with the ability to do qualifying time trials freely outside of that. No sign of any AI to assess it's behaviour. However, if you park on an apex, you or the opponents car will just ghost and they will drive through you. I'm more of an offline/on demand racer so I want to see what the AI is like, but tbh I'm already at a point where I still prefer PCars and AC.Does it still do the "other cars on rails" thing where if you park on a bend they'll drive into you?

Didn't have time to get the wheel setup out of the cupboard so used a pad and spent an hour on GT Sport Beta.
I must admit, I was a bit underwhelmed. Not least because I was prompted to play it after watching another promo for PCars2 on Facebook, which reminded me I had downloaded this!
I got a Megane, an Evora and some kind of concept Peugeot thing. It feels every bit Gran Turismo. Certainly it was fun chasing lap times with the fast Peugeot, which is effectively simulation where GT is in its' element. When I initially tried the Megane on Brands Indy I didn't realise the 'assisted braking' and TC would be quite so intrusive. You can literally drive around the track with the throttle at 100% and keep on the black stuff. TC and all other aids turned off I wasn't quickly sold either, it just didn't have that sense of connection you get with PCars and AC.
Here's hoping the game isn't spoiled by DLC subscriptions and the single-player campaign / career is homage to the original games, which is where I'd spend most of my time. I'd kill for a chance to be able to play GT3 or 4 with a modern wheel setup, so that's all I want to draw parallels with!

I'm actually really enjoying it. The graphics are impressive and it seems more responsive with a pad than most recent PS4 racers. Yes the engine sounds are still poor and the bumper cars online racing and lack of damage are frustrating but it still has that GT feel.. the sense of occasion win you win a new car, the quirky jazz in the menu screens, the slick branding (I like the Tag Heuer countdown to online races) etc. Great that it's finally going to have Porsches too.

I've been messing with the setups, not quite sure I'm going the right way with it, but I can actually get cars to turn in without armfuls of understeer and tyre screeching now.
Getting a bit annoyed with the number of group 3 cars earned from doing the daily objective thing - I think I have 6 or 7 now, but only one (crappy) group 4.. now have 3 N300s, speaking of which it seems that group is a bit unbalanced at Brands GP, I had one stab at a setup and went 3 seconds quicker than the Evora that I'd done 15 laps in...

I received an email regarding this last week (not sure i'd call it an invite, more an application for the Beta release) it asked a few details including GT history & preferences. Given this was completed over a week ago, how does the invite (assuming i was accepted) arrive?
Would it be via email or some kind of link etc. on my PS4? Been away for 10 days & not seen any email but not logged into my PS4 either.

B@lls, perhaps something came through while i was on holiday & it either fell into Spam or i didn't spot it & deleted it.Have applied again in the vain hope the above was the case.
Can you recall how long it was between the application email & the 'you're in' email?
Yeah GT6 with the aids off and the right tyres was a good game. But things have moved on and (to state the obvious) GT is notorious for dragging its heels.
If it's any good I'll start looking at a PS4 compatible wheel (currently on a G25), maybe a Pro, and maybe a PSVR.
I just need more reasons to invest in the new hardware.

Agreed. I still have the G25 but have upgraded to the G29 so I'm ready for getting the PS4 and GT Sport. If it's any good I'll start looking at a PS4 compatible wheel (currently on a G25), maybe a Pro, and maybe a PSVR.
