G29 is less than that in the black Friday deals I think.

Some of the "streamers" are a waste of time. You're going to learn precious little watching someone like Eeriessss or whatever the tag is.

I'm finding the races at LS pretty good, it's no Spa, but judging by the number of people get lapped (A/S) I'd say its a decent challenge!
What sort of laptimes are people doing in which cars? I'm finding the track very tricky. "Feels" really slippery.

I've not tried. I think a different account may be needed to test it out.

I see a lot of people talking about 2nd accounts for GTS - how does that work, you can set up a new profile on PSN? Do you lose all your cars and credits on the new account?
Yes. Yes.

What driver level/rating have people reached using the standard PS4 controller (as opposed to a wheel)?
I’ve been playing 2 weeks and reached level B, which I think is pretty reasonable. Anyone got to level A or higher on a pad?
I'm DR S SR S (though currently A+ as I don't do the FIA events, which you need to in order to be DR S)

There are people at the World Tour events who qualify on a pad (but are then made to compete on a wheel at the event). Dodge Lamb being one example.

Yes. Cold tyres is a thing but the tyre indicator only shows when they're overheated, which is a bit silly.

Perfect, I'll give it a go tonight if I have time.
Do you have a wheel set up?

Oh yes, go for it. Also, watch Super GT and Kie25's GT Sport streams on YouTube. Some great races and course guides. I've learnt quite a bit watching their vids.
I don't have a wheel. Interestly I've noticed the 'X' and 'Square' buttons aren't pressure sensative, so I can't modulate the throttle or brakes, I just have to tap the bottons which is annoying. I understant using 'R2/L2' would eleveate that but I grew up playing using the other buttons.

Other than that it's all good. Tried the time trial events and did a few daily races. I managed to come 2nd in one race and 3rd in another (with a fastest lap), and only got smashed by an idiot once.

Thouroughly enjoyed it so I'll be playing again tonight!
You can use the right stick for throttle and brake, it's much quicker than the X and Square (which I used to change gears) and was my method of choice as soon as they put the sticks on the controllers. On PS4 I've changed as I found L2/R2 is faster again, as you can transition between throttle and brake more quickly (and do both at once to simulate left foot braking and get the front end in check). It's worth learning.

FWD cars have dominated Gr.4 in terms of pure pace in most races for ages. If the race has tyre wear then they suffer, if not, they'll be up there. The Renault Trophy is the pick on the pure handling circuits or when tyre wear is a factor but isn't great in straight lines. The Jag can be competitive at places like Spa.

I saw exactly what you mean last night. I did 2 of the Nations Cup races, the first in the TT. Ended up qualifying plum last because on my first quali lap I was shoved off the track and got a penalty (naturally, the driver that shoved me got off scot free!) so lap 1 voided. Lap 2 taking the penalty and with more worn tyres I was just too slow. In the race, I did the opposite to everyone else, medium first then the plan was to be quicker at the end on softs. Ran as high as 12th, but then the tyre wear really set in. Ended up 20th and last again, with my front tyres completely worn down to all red on the indicator, rears were still showing as brand new!

2nd race I used the Aston for a bit of national pride (all the non-FWD cars seemed to be the 4C but I can't get on with that car using the pad!) and much better. Qualifying still not great, P18, but ended up in P7, should have been 5th but punted off, recovered to 8th then promoted up because someone didn't use both compounds and got a 1 min penalty.
Move the brake balance rearwards.

In the online events settings are fixed 99.9% of the time. In lobbies that's not the case but I'm not sure whether switching BoP on locks the settings?

In which context?

You can't use them in the online dailies or FIA events. It's all fixed.

In open lobbies where tuning is allowed then, yes, tuning is worth some lap time.

Check the tyre rules, you're not running all the required compounds.

I think certain value cars will now NEVER come up on the daily, I think it is obvious to anyone who has played this game a while that only certain value cars come up there, it is clear an algorithm has been placed there, I dropped some early on, but those days are gone.

I rarely play the game now, it feels dated next to modern stuff sadly. But it has its place.
I've had a couple of the very high value cars from the wheel.

Lots of duplicate stuff, too but I've been able to replace almost every car I bought with a free one from the wheel.

I do not play as much as I did, maybe once or twice a week.

But I now have numerous collections of 6, 7 cars, it is determined i think.

I have never dropped a more than 10 mill car in the merry go round and I do not think if your garage is a certain size you ever will.

I used to delete repeats but haven't done for a while and now have as I say very many 6 or 7 repeated of exactly the same car.

it is not at all random sadly, not since they introduced an element of paying.
Can you post a link to something which reflects this non-random element please?

I've had hundreds of different cars off the wheel, including the Ferrari P4 and many many millions worth of others. I've accessed the game and done the mileage on over 850 days.

I was lucky enough to get a g29 wheel and pedal set for Christmas which I'm really enjoying playing gt sport with compared to my old old gt force pro wheel. I'm still D rated as I dont play for enough hours and 1 bad race knocks so many dr points off. SR rating bounces between S and a/b.

Race B on the dailies this week is good and I quali'ed 2nd, took 1st on the first bend and the stretched lead to 6 secs for a win, fastest lap and clean race bonus.. and just won the 8pm manufacturers race tonight. Ghastly route-x event with most people running the Supra. I had to go pop ups with the f40, quali 4th place, and ran 2nd for most of the race bump drafting the leader. Dropped to 8th place in some carnage on penultimate bend, but times the slipstream well to go into last bend 3rd and came out 1st, winning by 0.014!
Unless they've changed the rating system the most DR you can win/lose in a race is 1200.

You get more in the DR change moves you between rankings IIRC. Other than that, it's usually 1200 (about the same for a Disconnection or rage quit). And that's for dead last in a race the DR weightings say you should win.

Just checked some numbers to see what that boost is and going from E to D I got 2000 DR for one race, D to C about 2400, C to B about 2600, B to A 1600. Dropping a DR band was - 2500 ish. It holds you at DR E until you've completed 5 races.

Unless you get a DR reset hehehehe
-17000 for one particularly ugly race on Spa.

I gave up a while ago. The penalty system evolved to a point you couldn't race, so I created an alt account and just raced from the back trying to get clean racing bonuses, which was equally frustrating, but I did get it to DR A SR S

It's a real shame as there's a good game in there somewhere. I also wish they'd added more tracks rather than cars you never use (not least because of the daily combos).

Waiting for GT7 now.
