I really wanted to like this. I wanted it to be the game that i dusted off the PS4 for... It's all a bit meh. Seems PD have gone the way of Apple and are now a company producing st that lags behind the competition. Bugger.

Guess the part of me that wants to fly around Trial Mountain in a Motorsport Green Mitsubishi FTO Racer will have to wait.
Have you played it then? I can't do anything (along with everyone else AFAIK) until the demo goes live tomorrow.

OK, so I've only played a few arcade races thus far but I am not disappointed.

The long term criticism of sound appears to have been put to rest to an extent. There's only a small selection of cars to try but it is miles better than previous versions aurally.

It looks stunning. The scenery, cars and tracks all flow seamlessly and the game doesn't appear to tax the PS4 in the same way the PS3 used to struggle from time to time.

20 car grids are much better though I've not tried online yet.

Square eyes, sweaty palms and adrenaline induced shakes are back!

ETA. The AI is much much better. You can't just pick this up and hammer the AI, they've judged it well and the AI doesn't just move out of your way, it will race you and it will give you a nudge.

I've downloaded it and just had a go at a few races and some of the driving school.
I was a HUGE fan of the original GT when it came out, I couldn't get into 2 but LOVED 3 and spent a lot of time playing it.
4 was ok but I don't think I put enough time into playing it.

So far I'm really enjoying it.
The sound seems fine to me, I've got it through a Sonos soundbar and sub.
The graphics cannot be faulted, I'm using a 4k HDR 60" TV and it is fantastic!
The only annoyance I've found so far is sharing videos, as I've got it in HDR the colours are all wrong when trying to share, so I'd have to turn that off which is daft. I wouldn't want to play it with lesser graphics just so I could upload clips, so I won't bother uploading any.

I had a quick play with the livery and colour editor, I will have a proper go with that when I buy a car.
So far I've been gifted a Mito and La Ferrari.

It's pretty, my only niggle is that when using the in car view and using the right stick to look around it seems very janky? In Driveclub it was very smooth and fluid but in this you move the right stick left or right and it's like there's a quick cut between your driving view and looking around?

I never use in car view, I prefer front bumper cam.
I tried looking to the side to see how it was and it did jump from one view to the other.
Personally I would prefer that as it allows split second glances without losing too much time away from looking forward

It's a mish mash of both though, if you get what I mean? Ie, if you press back to look behind it cuts immediately behind, you'd expect that behaviour, that's normal. But when looking left or right it's really jarring for some reason. It doesn't cut to the left or right view (which is what you're talking about) but it's like it cuts from the front view to the front view and then the camera moves left or right (as if you were turning your head).

It was for completely some sort of challenge, it appeared as a notification in the bottom right corner of one of the menu screens.
I got the Mito for completing the first row of driving school tests.
I hope there is a bonus for getting all gold

Nice.

I got a 650S for completing my daily mileage.

Unlike previous games, it doesn't look like it's going to make you wait to get into the tastier stuff. Not sure if that's good or not.

What I do know is that it's just taken me half a dozen goes to win on expert on the dragon circuit and even then it was only just. (5:30 dead for reference).

I did a few arcade races with all aids turned off, it took me 3 or 4 goes to win. That was in the Golf GTI, I wanted to buy one, but am going to hold out on buying anything before the full release and selection comes out.
I can’t remember the name of the circuit but it was the one to the right of the oval. That’s the only track I’ve tried so far.

I like the fact you can get into decent stuff quite quickly, it means you don’t need mindless grinding.
However, skill level dictates if they’re any use to you!

I’ve always started any new driving game with all aids off and manual box, it makes for a steep learning curve at first but pays off in the long run.
I find it much easier than trying to adapt from auto or loads of aids later on once you’ve got used to relying on them

GT has always been pretty, the graphics were never the problem, it's been stuck in a rut gameplay-wise for years.

To those that have played it, how does it compare to GT6?

No bonus for all gold at beginner, just the car for finishing the tests.

Did a couple of arcade mode races at lunchtime, looks like it's gonna be good - Assume online racing is enabled in this demo mode? If so, will be on later for some race action smile

Played 3 online races earlier, first race all MX5s (N100), really close racing, proper door handle one make stuff.

Second race was a choice of N300 cars, WRX, EVO, TT, Civics, Megane RS, a real mix, really good racing.

Third one was the big boys Gr4, huge choice of cars lots of fun, schoolboy error, was so engrossed in racing this one guy I ran out of fuel!

All in all liking it so far

Looking forward to having a go when getting indoors. To anyone playing with a wheel, it is as straightforward as it was on GT6 to set up the wheel? I have a Logitech G29.

Yes, automatically knows the wheel, if too heavy changed the wheel torque to 2 and force to 3

Standard is 5/5 real powerful, for drifting to powerful
