Had a fantastic Grp3 daily race at Dragon Trail last night, I wish I had saved the replay.
I started 9th, somehow managed to tiptoe through massive carnage at turn 2/3 and came out 6th.
Then worked my way up 4th, close on the tail of 3rd.
He crashed at the chicane around lap 6.
1st and 2nd were battling each other, which slowed them down enough for me to catch them by lap 8 or so.
Then I'm sat on the tail of 2nd and nipped past him at the hair pin just before the chicane.
The last two laps then spent swapping places with the leader to the finish, with him just beating me by about half a second.
Races like that certainly make the crap ones more bareable!

Yeah, I find it's either great races or annoying ones. First race on Dragon trail I was P1, and defended it for the entire race, which was stressful but good fun, second race P6, got myself to 2nd for 8 laps, was rammed over the chicane on lap 9 and given a 10 second penalty, which resulted in a 7th place and turning the playstation off in a huff.
It seems to be almost there, not quite, and when it goes wrong it's just so infuriating.

Had this exact same type of race at Lago Maggiore and what made it so special is that it was my ever online race in any game. Had a Ferrari 458GT and on the last two laps I was trading places with a Viper for 1st spot but he had the legs on the straights. He beat me by 0.4 seconds. It was great. I just can't bear the oval races as it's usually carnage.I started 9th, somehow managed to tiptoe through massive carnage at turn 2/3 and came out 6th.

Also, don't jump to conclusions when you think people ram you, I had one where i was just someone had tried to run into me... I got a 10 secs pen for it too... turns out he was at my rear 3/4 with quite a good width in between he lost the rear exiting a corner and hit me... still, i shouldn't have got the time pen!

Last night's nations comp wasn't too bad actually. The race was undoubtedly better than quali but people did seem to exercise some thought about how they went about it. A field of A/S and B/S must have helped in that regard.I just skip the daily ovals.
I'm enjoying it now I've edged up into A - SR.
I found the best way to improve your rating was to not qualify then potter round at the back. Especially in the longer races the carnage of the first few laps is over and there is space to maneuver. You'll catch and pass loads on people as well plus you get the opportunity to see how risky they will be to pass. I've passed a few who then dive bomb me at the next chicane or hairpin, I brake early and keep left, they fly past and into the barriers and you are clear.

The penalty system is killing me. Can't get into clean races to boost the S/R up once it's been rammed down. I'm getting punted off left, right and centre by talentless gimps and being penalised for it.
start last.. and finish last... thats what i did! - went from B to A just now!The 4C GRP3 is really slow around Lago mag... haha...

They need to do something so you can race without getting bullst penalties. You brake to give the car in front racing room and someone fires into you from 100 yards back. It's nuts. The number of talentless gimps is ridiculous.
Definitely a mixture of raceing for me. Mainly been in sport mode trying to do the championships tonight. One race tonight with the Lambo was a total and utter awful crash fest followed by the manufacture race on alsace? that was very very clean and very fun. Somehow I came out of both with my S rating intact and still scoring blue for both races, I think you can get away with quite a few little incidents before possibly dropping down. There is a bit of a trend with people braking really early when you are following them into corners, and if you move out and shoot bast on the inside then they just turn into you anyway and it is the little orange flash. Deciding what the ghosts are doing and when they will be real is a real headache as well I am still stuck for total speed though on a D driver rating and I am definitely to nice to other people in races. It very much depends on the group and mindset people are in and I think the random cars rather for one night only rather than the car you choose such as the gr4 and gr3 cars leads to a lot more mistakes. On GT legends for example on a group of us on one server literally just played the mini only on various tracks for a really long time. No issues with the odd bump and accident as this will always happen everyone was in control and there to race and the racing was very tight.
I think the qualifying is really important, at the front and you have a chance to hopefully get away unless someone really makes a mess, in the middle can be a world of pain, and at the back you can be driving into groups of cars racing beyond hard.
My personal thing as well seems to be holding it together for 5 or 6 laps then going off usually by myself and putting myself in the mess.
I need to go on a car shopping spree as well the daily workout rewards have been rubbish, so far I only own one gr4 car and 3 or 4 gr3's so apart from getting a beetle I need to decide what to purchase!

I just did the daily GR 4 race around suzuka and having started from the back because I joined too late to set a time I was doing well up in 9th/10th... Until a German bd decided to be annoying and block every attempt to overtake...
I drive differently in GTS than GTA (hard as it is to believe for some) but I was having to run this guy off the track (or dive bomb on the brakes) just to get past.. He went from Sr B to E thouh so karma got him eventually
