Since people are putting the X comparable to a1060 or 1070, what does everyone think of it being able to run VR?
Microsoft are not talking about it yet but it must be in their plans

I thought the GPU in the X was an underclocked AMD RX480?

I'm sure it'll manage VR just fine but it won't be up there with >£1000 PC's.

MS are putting their money on AR via the Hololens.

It's more like a RX580 with far more vRAM. The 480 cannot do 4k in any spec, this can. It's some VERY clever hardware, with some even cleverer APIs (and writing software to one spec, not millions) makes for some impressive specs.

I'd argue they aren't - given the cost and marketplace, I'd say their "money play" is VR with a different name. I.e they call it AR, but they've set the spec for the plethora of HMDs about to hit the market from the likes of ACER. Plenty of sub-$300 units coming.

Saw one of these in the flesh at the MS store in one of the malls in Orlando this week. Obviously not running and in all probability just an empty shell, but even so the 12 year old kid in me suddenly got very giddy at seeing a brand-new unreleased console just sitting there smile

Such a shame it's being packaged with the standard controller though. For something as expensive as this, you'd have thought they'd have bundled the Elite controller in there too.

In the Florida mall? If so it’s just a mock-up and it’s been there for a few weeks now,

They have a vr section on he left but there’s always a big queue to have a go. hehe

Yeah, in the Mall At Millenia. They had about 3 VR setups in there on Sunday, would've had another go had the wife not been giving me absolute evils over spending so long in there already laugh

I was in France on holiday when they finally announced the preorder so bought one straight away from Argos, wife thinks i'm mental. I will have this paired up with my Panasonic 55 inch 4K TV i have for my xbox at the moment. really can't wait for this to be released but I hope destiny 2, Battlefield 1, Battlefront 2, COD all get 4K updates. I have Gears 4 saved to be done once the console is released.

Has it been announced whether a player using the Xbox One X will be able to play online/Xbox Live with someone playing the same game on the Xbox One?

Has it got any launch titles? It’s all a bit low key.

Nothing special so far. To be honest I am more interested in getting all my current games upgraded to 4K. Also having a BluRay UHD player would be a great asset too.

it's not really a new console system as such so I wouldn't expect any big AAA launch on release. Even so I think MS are pushing hard to get PUBG on the preview programme for near to launch date.

Other than that it seems to be mostly improvements on existing games.

Will the old games be upgraded? I don’t really understand it but I thought the games would have to be updated or 4K-ed to look any different on the onex

Like when you play an old Xbox360 game on the Xboxone hasn’t it been enhanced by the developer to look any better than it did on the 360?

Don't think of it as having 'launch titles'. Think of it more along the lines of pc gaming. You know when you have a sub par pc and you want to run the latest title. You have to make all kinds of concessions to make it run properly.

You may spend hours trying to optimise all the graphical settings running and re running the demo after every tweak only to think ffs it still runs like shi*

Your mate of course has the latest 1080 card that runs everything at full detail at 12k... You hate him ....

This is the way Microshaft are going with consoles..... All games will be backwards compatible but will have enhancements for the faster hardware.... One X... Just like PC's now.

It will allow them to release tweaked consoles more often....

Just ordered one for my son for Christmas.

Does anyone know if you’ll still be able to play the digital downloads on the onex and one with just one digital download purchase as you can at the moment on the one?

Sounds confusing with all the ones but you know what I mean.

1 digital download can be played on 2 xboxes with making Xbox 1 the Home and logging in on the other.
