Good spot, Sir
I should have said "the 'notify me' facility at shopto.net, which I've got in place, that ordinarily leads to an email with link to pre-order as soon as it is available" has been cancelled.
I'll keep an eye on this thread. Hope to read really positive things and if so, it'll be an Xmas present to myself.
Reading your post had me frantically searching around lol ! I'll not be able to stop myself unfortunately :-( I should have said "the 'notify me' facility at shopto.net, which I've got in place, that ordinarily leads to an email with link to pre-order as soon as it is available" has been cancelled.

It has been an odd pre-launch
You can always trust Microsoft to infuriate you somehow. In this case, it's media blackout, a stark contrast to the Xbox One launch where they bungled repeatedly and every time they made a press statement, it was more ridiculous than the last. It's nice to see Microsoft establishing the Xbox where it started again, as the high powered console of choice for serious gamers. I just wish Amazon would open pre-orders, even without announcing a price. I'd happily just make the order now. I've seen on a few forums, the usual suspects saying how they're not going to pre-order until it's cheaper. These cheapskates are the reasons game shops still stock PS3 and Xbox 360 games.

I think they're all pretty crap, the main reason I bought a 360 was because of the PS3s disastrous launch. If it wasn't for friends, gamesharing and the elite controller I would have probably switched back for this gen though.I've seen on a few forums, the usual suspects saying how they're not going to pre-order until it's cheaper. I'd wait and see what's revealed at gamescom this weekend. If it is a Battlegrounds bundle then you can't really get a bigger name than that at the moment. Although I'm sceptical of that rumour too, as its going to the preview programme first.
I am really looking forward to the X. Just bought a really good 4k tv which makes quite an impressive difference to the vanilla xbox one anyway (via the TV's upscaling) and being able to watch some of the youtube clips of upcoming games 'actually' in 4k gives you a good appreciation over how much of a jump it really is from 1080p.
Microsoft have taken a battering since the disaster that was the xbox one launch and I think this is a return to what xbox should be all about (more power than the competition)
