Just had 20 minutes of panic .... Looked in the display and sound advanced video settings and loads of red and yellow.... apparently my tv would not play games in 4K or HDR ! So god knows why they looked good... must have been upscaling to 4K...
Anyway swapped the hdmi cable for the one in the box because I had been a lazy git...
No difference.... swapped hdmi ports.... no difference...
Then found in the tv settings that deep colour for was turned off on all ports... Turned it on and tv rebooted...
All green ticks thank god !

So.... Been messing about most of the day. Still not properly sat down and played a game yet.... Just purchased Forza 7 but 95gb download now !
Tried Quantum Break but there were some weird stutters.... Only had it on for 10 mins.
Elite is lovely in 4K but didn't feel especially fluid..... Again only had 10 mins though.
Everything feels like it is happening faster....

I'll be honest, I was expecting something, not exactly sure what. Although I was buying the new Xbox anyway, irrespective of my current tv set up.

Sitting up close to my office monitor andplaying testing my old Xbone, I'd forgotten how sharp things look up close
I'm about 15ft away from the tv in my lounge, sitting this close is like night and day in comparison.
I don't think there is any point in 4K or even HD if you are sat away from the tv... Well for me with my now crap eyes... I have a 49' TV and when I can ( ie when family not around ) I pull the chair right upto the TV to game and watch stuff. That way I can really appreciate the quality.Looking at this one -

Mine died last night after 21 days of ownership. It feels like a hard drive failure to me as it won't boot past the error screen and I can't reinstall the OS via USB.
I have decided to send it back and get a refund. it is the shortest life span I have ever had out of a console and I now have serious doubts about its build quality.
A real shame, it could have been great.
Ouch ! Hard drives do fail though ... Usually at the worst times lol ! It feels like a pretty solid and well made unit to me though. Be interested to hear what your doubts are though.I have decided to send it back and get a refund. it is the shortest life span I have ever had out of a console and I now have serious doubts about its build quality.
