As someone who thought the original COD2 was the best online game I have ever played I’m excited for this. Off tomorrow so thinking I might line up a midnight download like a true geek!

I shall pop down and collect our pre-order today.

Still halfway through Wolfenstein, so there will be a battle for the Xbox time between daughter and I for weeks now. Maybe I can swap the order to PS4 and take that to the upstairs TV room.......scratchchin

My Plan A was to play through the Horizon Zero Dawn DLC which will be released next Tuesday while Activision smoothed out the bumps in WW2, got the servers working properly and released the first few hundred patches.

Instead....

Pre-downloaded the game yesterday and quickly flicked it on this morning to see if there were any day one patches to download before heading off to the office. I also switched the theme on my PS4 to the WW2 theme as i really am that cool.

I could have worked from home, but realistically i'd have got nothing done. So now i'm here in the office waiting for home time. Clearly, instead of gaming at home and doing no work, instead i'm in the office, posting on Pistonheads and doing no work hehe

I'll download it tonight or maybe tomorrow. looks like there is no need to rush as Activision are having problems with the online MP servers.

They posted a bit ago to say it was resolved but people still can't get on.

Think I'll play the campaign first smile

That's the frustrating bit, when they claim all is well when it clearly isn't. Whilst launch day problems are far from a surprise, how many bites at the cherry do they need before they work out how to launch a game?

As long as it's working in around 6hrs time i'll be happy enough smile

Dont know, but its taken EA/Dice 2 years or something to try and fix BF1 and its still not right. After 18+ months you can finally join people via the friends online ingame side bar but even thats hit and miss and you have to rely on inputting the servers

Servers stop working due to people trying to get on. Activision posts that it's all resolved. People rush to get on effectively DDoS'ing Activision again. Rinse and repeat.

Had an hour of SP so far - Christ games haven't moved on apart from graphically in 20 years!

Not too impressed, the opening D-Day scene was lame, no tension, no feeling of immersion, MOH did it far far better, none of the weapons sound like how the weapons should sound and why is a Russian PPH being used by German soldiers in the west?

As soon as the button mashing bit came up I quit, can't be done with that crap. Lazy Xbox programming for idiots

Have to say I agree with you...the kids are playing zombies now and they've given it a thumbs up, I'm hoping mp is something a bit special.

I've played about 1.5hrs now of single player, and it's really not very good. It plays like a 10 year old game, with clunky controls , unskippable cutscenes, very small levels surrounded by solid foliage walls, omniscient AI that will all instantly fire upon you the moment you stick your ear out of cover, and the story is like a 12 year old wrote an episode of Band Of Brothers.

Compared to Battlefield 1 it feels very old-hat, linear and just the same old stuff that was in CoD1 and 2, in fact it feels pretty much identical to those games. Even the opening beach level feels worse than it did in Medal of Honour, however many years ago that was, and it managed to feel so small and insignificant whereas in MoH it felt more large and epic. The jeep level with ramps was just the icing on the crap cake.

I'm tempted to get a refund before the 2 hours is up, but I'll try multiplayer first just in case its any good there.

Agree with everything above, it really is disappointing, the kids are liking the zombies, loads of customisation for characters and weapons, still not tried any MP but it better be good!

I've decided to get a refund instead, I can't imagine MP will be any more enjoyable than SP.

Early impressions...

- Machine guns are massively overpowered. To the point of it’s useless using anything else.

- Everyone has sensitivity jacked up and just sprays from the hip.

- If you have come from BF1 just don’t. The maid really show how good BF1 is.

- It’s laggy.

- You spend 70% in menus and load screens and the rest actually playing.

- Zombies is brilliant, if that’s your thing.

- Shotguns are a waste of time as it takes two hits majority of time in which case the OP machine guns have killed you.

Great. just bought it 30 minutes ago, wish i'd read this first.

Why is it that these days you can never just plug and play with a game, always have to download something. My internet isn't the best just had to download 8gb of something and now another 9.4gb of something else which is going to take 4 hours according to the screen.

Absolute b0ll0cks.

Currently 10 mins remaining on “copying application” then I’m good to go, although if the early reports are anything to go by it might either be an early night.

Fek it, downloading update file - 51 minutes remaining

I need to be more organised and get this sort of thing started earlier in the evening, always make the same mistake!

My copy arrived this morning. I won't be installing it yet, I'm waiting for the Xbox Scorpio to come on Tuesday, and I'll get it fired up then.

First impressions:

Initial cut scene is a ballache if you want to restart the checkpoint as you have to go through watching it all again, after that it flows better.

Not got too far but it’s not as bad as I was expecting after reading the initial comments. I reckon it needs a good few hours before any conclusion can be drawn. I’m hoping it grows on me, but it’s too early to tell yet.
