Really good write up there, I've seen a few bits of the raid on YouTube, but if it took you guys that much time/effort to complete the raid then it seems way too hard for lower ranked players.

I guess the point of a raid is to make it a genuine challenge and aim it at the very best clans, but at the same time it makes it too difficult for gaming mortals.

Perhaps in a few weeks the new raid will have some new mechanics/cheeses and then it'll become easier over time like the last raids eventually became.
It's not that hard once you learn the mechanics - it really is just about communication and everyone doing their job right. For the most part, staying alive isn't a problem and there is little risk of dying other than wiping to a raid mechanic.

Saw the above post about good crucible weapons, I'm not amazing at crucible but used to regularly top my team board in Iron Banner in D1, I like Mida Multitool or Nameless Midnight (Nameless Midnight is the best primary weapon in the game imo) as far as scout rifles go, or for assault rifles the Origin Story is amazing and also a really good PVP weapon too.

For energy weapons I like a submachine gun for finishing people at close range, Mida Minitool is good for the speed boost when equipped, Death Adder and Red Mamba are good too.

For power weapons, shotguns are good, swords too. Rocket launchers are ok but don't seem to be as powerful as they used to be. Fusion rifles and linear fusion rifles are pretty weak.

464,000 to be precise. Once you get the buff from the flowers your damage output increase with each stack of the buff you get. It does help to be able to put out a huge amount of damage quickly though.

Myself, Glenn and Lew have just done the prestige nightfall this week, just the normal nightfall but at 300 light, with only 15 minutes to complete it and it locks your equipment and classes when you start. Rotated characters and did it again, not too hard.

Wasn't the Rat King supposed to be very handy if the whole team were using it, or is it a crap gun to begin with?

I haven't seem any in-depth damage data on it yet, but doing some rough tests, it looked like two paired Rat Kings gave a buff of 50% extra damage per shot. With three together, it appeared to give a rate of fire buff too, with a magazine unloading very, very quickly depending on well you could feather the trigger.

I'm not sure where this would be useful in the raid yet, maybe in the castellum hub area, two players hunting down a standard bearer could buff their guns together to drop him, and it could be especially useful for the defence team, who are in most area huddled together as a group of 4 shooting down incoming enemies who are trying to take their flag back. However, for any decent fireteam these bits are trivial so you can use whatever you like.

In the bath house, they may have any application when you standard together as a 6 man team to destroy the glowing jars in the damage phase, but they're not ideal for the main part of that encounter. A scout rifle in the energy slot and a shotgun or fusion rifle is best, for shooting down adds at long range as they enter the bath house and a close range, hard hitting gun power weapon for dropping the bathers that spawn to attack the players on the pressure plates.

In the gardens, you're split up damage the dogs so I can't see there being any use in using Rat Kings, you should be able to do more than enough damage with your cluster rockets / Merciless and grenades to kill your own dog quickly, then when you have to split up you should still have ammo left to help a team mate if you're supporting another player.

For Calus I can't see the Rat King being useful, unless there is a huge damage stacking effect - it's not a great weapon for farming skulls in the void dimension and it's not great for dropping waves of adds and elites in the throne room, and during the damage phase you're probably too far away for a sidearm to be effective on at least 2 of the 4 damage plates, not to mention it would be very hard to maintain a high critical shot rate if you're using the rate of fire to the full. Something like Sweet Business or Coldheart is very easy to keep on target and even someone with bad aim should be able to hold those guns steady enough for a 90% critical hit rate on Calus during the damage phase.

Nightfall was easy. did it with 7:30 mins to go and got my 303 rat king gun. flew through it but did have to do it twice as one of the purple gems you had to shoot was gone but still but still showing it needed to be shot so could not get through the door and was a wipe.

Tried the raid again last night with the same fireteam that struggled before. We're all over light 300 now.

Much easier. Managed to do the dogs, and the baths, all that's left is the gauntlet and the final boss. I have a feeling we might crack it if we can stop chatting and messing about!

I'm still waiting on a Sweet Business! I did get a Mob Justice SMG as a gift for the clan finishing the raid, it's an amazing bit of kit. Well worth the efforts that the lads put in.

I got Mob Justice for doing the bath house, I've yet to use it. I'll need to give it a go.

It's very good. Typically short ranged but has a deep magazine and very little drift once you're on the trigger. It can do tremendous damage because it's very easy to target weakspots. I was using it with Grunt when we were farming glimmer extractors, it wipes out the machines with ease.

I also dropped a Hard Light last night, still waiting for that Sweet Business! However, I did also get a Raid Engram with the raid rocket launcher in, which is really cool.

Sweet business is pretty fun. Good in PvP and PvE. It was my first exotic drop, so had it paired with a scout rifle, and that worked really well.

Now I have Mida that takes the Exotic spot, and I've paired with a legendary auto rifle instead.

Just had a go at the raid with 2 clan guys and 3 Scottish randoms - painful wasn't the word for it. It boggles the mind that players are 300+ light could struggle so much in the raid. It's all about strategy, you don't have to make it as difficult for yourself as possible.

I don't mind teaching people, or discussing and trying new ideas, but it's an uphill battle when someone decides they'll use Merciless on Calus because they prefer it, even though they've got cluster rockets and a Coldheart. There are new strategies, and there is doing less damage and tying one hand behind your back for the sake of it.

Still, two Ghost Primus raid assault rifles isn't bad going for 30 minutes of admittedly hard work.
