Ok. I’m now confused.
Within the game, it seems to want ~60 quid for forsaken + annual pass.

Xbox store suggests foresaken + annual pass (penumbra / jokers wild / Black armory) is 30 quid. Which appears far more palatable

Edit; nope, hang on. That’s *just* the annual pass, not the current update.
Bloody hell bungie, make it more complex than needed.

Ive never really stopped playing Destiny seems to be all I play anymore. Still do weekly raids with the clan im in now and really enjoying the Beyond Light dlc. Would be good to catch up with a lot of the Original Destiny 1 players but dont seem many of them online or looks like they dont play Destiny anymore.

Beyond light is on disc, but I’ve had absolutely zero time to play it.
Maybe over Christmas.

Which clan is active (Xbox) these days?

I've been playing this again after a long time off. I packed in after Forsaken or Warmind (whatever came last). The game really was in a dire place at that point and I'd read about the changes that had been implemented since but felt no desire to go back until some of the content went on Games Pass.

I started playing again just a few days before the Xbox Series X update and it's in a much better place now. The changes to the weapon system have made a vast improvement to flexibility and in general, the content seems more rewarding and well structured now. The game also looks absolutely incredible at 60FPS. Destiny never looked bad but it looks sensational now.

I've bought a season pass using the silver that I had acquired for nothing and I'll probably get another at some point so the experiment of putting the new expansions on Games Pass was a success.

Well, I've played this pretty solidly with almost daily logins since my last post, it's fair to say that I've had my monies worth from the season I bought for £7 or whatever it was. Note that the season pass isn't essential, it basically just doubles up the amount of rewards you get for levelling with a number of notable items that you wouldn't get if you hadn't paid for the pass.

To that end, I suppose Bungie must have done the sums and realised that the F2P model was projected to make the game profitable. I can't see the Destiny of the future coming out without the big price tag of a AAA game, but it does indicate just how badly things went with Destiny 2 that they ended up here.

Having kicked the arse out of this season, it's obvious that Destiny is still grappling with the fundamental problems that it has seemed unable to tackle for the entirety of D2's life. The issue still remains that once you've completed the story content, the gear quests are often a hollow grind. There seems to be very little of worth in the game now, with a greater focus in messing around in crucible, Iron Banner and gambit modes to pad the experience. Progression is still largely drip fed by weekly refreshes of gear related tasks and it's clear from this that Bungie prioritise player retention, though they're more interested in just making sure you log in to grind the same tasks rather than feeling like your time is really valuable.

This brings us back to the main issue that Bungie are grappling with, and that is the loot economy. I can understand the argument for sunsetting and it was clearly needed as some of the gear that existed in the game was just too powerful or too nice to play with that it removed the need to obtain anything else in that class. This plagued vanilla D2, where the OP legendaries became a point of derision. Bungie still don't know where to go with this. They're looking at sunsetting gear on a seasonal basis, but if they do go through with this, does it make sense to spend time grinding the side quests out for gear that will be either removed or capped shortly after?

Bungie seem unable to get their heads around this where other long-term loot games have it cracked. Path of Exile successfully refreshes it's entire economy every season and leaves God-roll items to gather dust in a standard league whilst encouraging players to ride the power curve again. Warframe trounced Destiny 1 and does so again with D2 - they have handled the prospect of the long term economy and health of the game far better than Bungie and this is probably why Warframe has retained a more committed, hardcore player base.

If all the content cutting this time around was done to put Destiny 2 back to a state where it could be substantially reworked, the game may have a future. However, I suspect it's just being used as a test bed at the moment whilst D3 is being worked on, and the series will probably be properly reborn at that point. I do hope that is the case as it remains a fun game, but one where the experience is ultimately hollow once you strip away the frippery of the busywork.

I enjoy rubbing around blasting stuff, the core mechanics still work well.

I miss the collaborative play, I just don’t have the time to commit to raids etc anymore.

I’ve not bothered grinding for years now. I’m crap and I know it.

I've started playing again a few months ago. Finished both the raids and enjoying it again.

If anyone needs one for their fireteam then hit me up.

I need to get the Divinity rifle from the Garden of Salvation raid, then I want a crack at the Deep Stone Crypt.

I remember a dark and misty time, in the haze of history, when I used to be a top class raider. I wish to get back to those days. Some of the names here still look so familiar...

Just stepped back in to this after a loooong time away. Nice to see my Warlock again, buffed to 1050 light, or whatever it's called today.

Had forgotten how right the gun and controls feel. Looking forward to exploring all that's new. The opening mission on moon was good fun.

Not sure anything can beat some of the D1 strikes (loved the Omnigul one) or Vault of Glass raid. Happy days.
