I haven't read every page but can anyone answer me this

Does this get better? I've recently started it after playing days gone many times and well to put it mildly I'm bored.

It's pretty but it's so slow paced and I'm already fed up of riding a horse and I'm barely in chapter 2.

Robbing the train was good but everything else just feels pure monotony.
You need to give it more of a chance for sure...

Chapter 2 is basically still the tutorial ...

The slower paced exploration of the amazingly crafted world is IMO what the game offers over many other titles. It isn’t COD in the wild west.

You do have to push through the first few hours (and it’s more than one or two!) before the game gets “good”, in my opinion, but it’s worth doing for the story.

Agree with the above, I've replayed it a few times and the whole start in the snow is a drag.

The game really comes alive when you can leave the story behind and explore a bit, the scale and detail of the environment.

That said, it rarely gets to the pace of say of a GTA game, it's a pretty chill when you're not rootin', tootin' and shootin'

I kept going back and didn't really get it to start with but after a while with the little stories I found it a really nice game with great atmosphere. The touches of music were used sparingly and really pushes it. In the end I was totally engrossed and thought it was a wonderful and satisfying ending.

Stick with it.

As a light break from RDR2 I found this on YouTube. It's someone who has sculped Arthur Morgan. Fantastic detail.

I gave it a bit longer but there is only so much of riding a horse I could put up!

Its back in its box and will be traded in next time I'm near CEX

I re-installed this over the Bank Holiday weekend. Costly engine bills meant I needed a stay indoors and don't spend money at all costs distraction!

I played it on first release and rushed the story through, thoroughly enjoyed it but a lot of it was forgotten to me, or so I thought any way!

Playing it on PS5 now and the loading times are SIGNIFICANTLY better than they were on the PS4.

Blasted through the intro to get out of the snow and I must say I am loving this game, I've gone out my way to do everything around I can, taking the story as slow as possible. The attention to detail and vastness of what's available is remarkable!

I was absolutely horrendous honour first go round, I'm a saint this go! smile

It really is a stunning game. I'd not played the original so didn't really know much about it, I think in my head I was expecting GTA on horseback hehe

First time I fired it up it blew me away, starting up in the snowy mountains you really felt immersed in the game and the realistic storyline. Coming down from the mountains when the vastness of the landscape opens up, for a while it felt like I forgot about the missions and just spent time riding around exploring. Waterfalls, dams, bridges, geysers, and then you head south and the landscape changes again, gets more dusty, swamps, alligators, and then all of a sudden you arrive at a proper city which I really didn't expect. On top of that they even throw in a Caribbean island.

My only complaint is it's a shame they didn't utilise the desert area (New Austin), it took me a long time to get round to exploring that part of the map, and afterwards there were very few reasons to go there other than a couple of late missions.

So many little details which can be easy to miss, or little character interactions which could pass you by. At some point I might have to give it another run, probably loads I missed first time round, although last time I played fairly honourably so this time I think it's only right to go full psycho biggrin

I downloaded this ages ago, tried it and found the intro tedious, even by Fallout tutorial standards. Definitely going to have another go. Grit my teeth and get through it.

Much of the first game is set around there, which is probably why. I spent time going back to the places I remembered from the original game, so it was like a trip down memory lane.

If you start searching for all the collectibles (dinosaur bones, for example) then quite a few are in the New Austin area.

I thought it was one of the greatest stories I had ever played. However I will concede that the start is slow and it doesn't really get going until you get to the first camp and start wandering off.

Bits of the story genuinely made me emotional

Ah, ok, interesting, thanks. Never played the first, is it worth a go or will I be a bit underwhelmed after experiencing RDR2?

It's a smaller open world and you will finish the game a lot quicker than RDR2. It'll still take over your life for a few weeks though! The gameplay is similar and the story is excellent, I recommend giving it a go.
