Noticed this posted on twitter this morning; seems a teaser trailer has been released ahead of the official trailer due the end of this week: https://www.gamespot.com/far-cry-5/
Radical change regarding deciding to set it in Montana, instead of some vague African country/tropical island/mountain region of the previous games. I would hope they are going to give the side missions a little more depth/less repetitiveness than 2/3/4 but I won't hold my breath.

Interesting choice of location - hopefully this means a change from the previous 'bad guy takes over the country until hopeless American tourist turns into unstoppable killing machine' plots. Which were fun to start with, but got pretty dull after a while. I've still not finished the Far Cry 3 extended DLC (I refuse to call it Far Cry 4) due to sheer boredom.

I'm 50/50 on this; I didn't like it in FC3 when it was first introduced but didn't mind it in FC4 - it forces you to explore the world more thoroughly. That said I could probably live without it. NPCs with more than 4 pre-recorded lines of dialogue would be a bonus too.2 was almost really good but they ruined it by making it stupidly difficult... Super-tough enemies, impossible to evade once they'd seen you, infinitely respawning at checkpoints, they would chase you down across the whole map. Combine that with the fact that even the best weapons would 'wear out' after a dozen shots or so even if you went equipped to do a mission, the bloody gun would break before you even got to start the mission as you had to re-kill three checkpoints full of bad-ass enemies on the way there, leaving you with nothing but a sidearm to do the quest.

TBH I've enjoyed all of them, despite each having their flaws:
- set the ground work for a lush, jungle-based shooter with stealth being key. Totally ruined by the second half of the game; plenty of expansion packs.
- Complete change of direction for the game but I loved the Africa setting; I even liked that guns wore out and the challenge that presented. fked up stealth system + checkpoint respawning as mentioned about was annoying.
- Was the quintessential sandbox game; great setting, great villain, reasonable story, but repetitive missions and a QTE battle with Vas and the other bosses felt like a cop out.
- was #3 but polished a little (better graphics, new mechanics like animal riding, the buzzer etc) but it has the same flaws as #3 as well.

Blood Dragon was hilarious. I think the length was just right though. If it had been longer it may have overstayed its welcome
Depends, ultimately I'd rather play a full length Blood Dragon than a full length Crysyis, for example. Most sci-fi shooters are just too dry. Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
