Destiny 2 (PS4)
Discussion
To be honest, I really don't get all of the "hate" for this. I love the new expansion, still loads for me to do and am enjoying playing through.
It strikes me as odd that people complain about no end game content and then as soon as a DLC drops rush through it at breakneck speed, just so they can complain that there is nothing to do - why not take a bit of time and enjoy it a little more?
I don't have hours to spare to play Destiny so grab a couple of hours here and there, I play for fun, and enjoy making progress. Maybe I am one the "casuals" that seem to be despised by the so called hardcore community, but think about this, one of those groups is enjoying the game and the others are spending all of their time moaning about it, I know which group i would rather be in.
It seems to me that a lot of people on the Destiny community have forgotten that after all said and done this is just a game, played for fun, and costs less than a full tank of fuel in my car, and if that isn't value for money I don't know what is.
If anybody sees me online, give me a wave, I am the one running around, dying quite a bit but still having fun.

Last Christmas, I got Vanilla Destiny for my nephew. I think it was around £25 or so, which included all the expansions and he is still having a great time slowly working his way through it. In a couple of years time, when major improvements have hopefully been made and the Destiny universe has expanded again, maybe a similarly good deal will be available.
In it's current format, at it's current price, it just isn't worth it to me. I enjoyed playing through the content and I feel like I got good value out of it but, I also feel like I got to the end of the game (rather than there being an endgame).

Holy Thread Revival!
OK, so I bought a PS4 a few weeks back, my first console purchase since I bought one of the very first playstations off the production line back in the 90s (my mate at uni also worked for Sony part time). I got Destiny 2, God of War, Fallout 4 all rolled into the deal which I thought was good. I flew through god of war, and have moved off it pretty quickly. Got into D2 and really like it, progress is quick at first but then get harder. The new missions were on deal the other day so got them for £16. Am up to 334 power at level 30 now...but am an occasional player really (every other evening for an hour or so plus maybe a blitz on a saturday!), I havent played games since the 90s so struggle a bit with the coop stuff (some people really get stressed if you dont contribute as much as they do!).
Anyway, I have tried completing Leviathan which I think is a coop game but every time I go in I end up on my own and its a nightmare without support! Has everyone literally done it and not entering it any more?
I actually prefer D2 over God of War, much more scale to it - although load times are terrible! I started Fallout 4 but got bored quite quickly, takes forever to get around the vast map...or am I missing something!

You can fast travel between locations you’ve found on Fallout. Unless you’re playing on Survival difficulty.
I nearly bought the dlc for Destiny in the sale but got GTsport instead.
I got a lot of play out of Destiny for the first couple of months but I haven’t got any of the expansions so I guess I’d be behind the curve now.

Leviathan is a raid, there's no matchmaking. You'll need to find a team of five others first who are willing to take on someone new. Try the sherpa subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinySherpa/ Good luck!
You can look for a clan on bungie.net. Sometimes you'll get random invites ingame too, but this probably isn't the way to find a reliable raid group.
Raids are heavily mechanic-focused so might be worth having a look at a guide on YouTube before jumping into your first one. You'll need to communicate as well.

Thanks again - am sure I will get there eventually!
Thinking GTA5 is my next purchase - although would like to buy a game that isn't something like a shooter next but most games seem to involve some level of shooting/slashing. Clearly will get a driving game of some sort, but not sure what else is out there?

Assassin's Creed Origins, Horizon Zero Dawn, Rainbow Six Siege and Rocket League are worth checking out. Fortnite is free if you've not played it yet.
Thanks, trying to avoid shooters/slashers really - wondering what other types of games there are. When I google top 10 games I get a mix of shooters plus Gran Turismo (which was awesome in version 1 on PS!)Has anyone gone back to D2 since the second DLC dropped?
I've been playing a lot of Fortnite recently and it's made me realise just how abusive Bungie is to its player base.
Aspects like removing weapons, only to slowly reintroduce them as RNG drops, no matchmaking for end game activities, long periods between updates, huge amount of grinding to progress to reach constantly increasing power levels. These all make me want to steer well clear of Destiny for the foreseeable future, even though it's an astounding game at its best.

The first DLC was utter crap and it was a slog to get through, as you have to keep doing missions in the same place each time.
The second DLC from last month is actually really good. They’ve added in some new ways to play when out on freeroam and it feels fun to level up again.
Just a shame you do most of it solo as 90%+ of our clan have disappeared. A raid team is very unlikely at this point.

Yeah, as above, Curse of Osiris was simply totally underwhelming and added nothing of any real value to the game.
Warmind was actually a decent step in the right direction and I did play it for a reasonable bit of time, but unfortunately Destiny lives and dies on playing with other people and as the Clan gradually moved on to other things again, it gets harder to find people to play with and therefore much less interesting to play.
That said, had I not made the mistake of buying the digital deluxe version of the game prior to launch, I'm almost certain that I wouldn't have touched D2 for the last six months. CoO was a non-factor, and Warmind wasn't enough on it's own to justify the cost of the expansion pass.
The thought of chucking a further £40 at Bungie for the next expansion just feels like a complete no-no at this stage though. The final few months of the original Destiny's life cycle saw it in a very good place and D2 has taken so many sideways and backwards steps in important areas that I simply begrudge any further outlay on it.

I feel exactly the same way. Call me dramatic but I've deleted off my PS4 and don't intend on going back to it. I feel ripped off by the deluxe edition but made the most of the content as I'd bought it anyway. I won't be heading into Year 2.The thought of chucking a further £40 at Bungie for the next expansion just feels like a complete no-no at this stage though.
