I did wonder how they might encourage people to come back for year 2. Hope it works out for them. I'm not falling for it though laugh

Absolutely, they've burned a huge amount of their player base with D1 and D2.

Whilst I was active in the game I would keep track of the number of players playing Trials each weekend to see how popular the game was.

In the depths of year 3, with no new content waiting for D2, the number of active players (the few remaining hard core fans) in Trials for an entire 4 day long weekend dropped as low as 150,000 and I think that was Independence Day weekend, where a lot of US players visit relatives.

A few weeks back, the number of players dropped to 58,000! eek It's now bubbling along in the 60,000s.

That gives you an idea of how many people have ditched the game.

There just isn't anything else around at the moment with decent co-op play. Luckily, my physical disc was a gift so, I'll be paying £55 for the base game plus all 3 expansions - doesn't seem like such a bad deal, especially if most of the launch issues have been resolved.

Yeah, but you'd rather be shooting a massive space alien god than T-bagging your mates, so you're a bit unusual for a gamer, Speckle! laugh

Not sure what that says about gamers in general but, I don't think it's anything good hehe

I had a lot of fun over the weekend playing through the curse of osiris and warmind expansions (not bad at all for £15). Being able to equip shotties or snipers and secondary weapons just makes the game feel 'right' again

So much so that I've gone and pre-ordered Forsaken. The Gambit pvpve mode was great fun. They are touting this expansion as the biggest one yet with as much content as the Taken King from D1. I would be very happy with that.

I have no intention of paying for expansions, I don't believe in it and feel that if you do you are almost giving developers the green light to do it more and more.

It doesn't have to be done, for its faults GT Sport does not.

Back to the game, love playing it, it's fun and challenging. Don't play online, but it still offers me enough. Pretty, decent customisation and enough to keep one interested for a while

Is there a PH clan for D2? Most of mine have bailed and realised I’m pretty much the only one playing now! Is anyone wants to add then my PSN name is the same as user name here.

Cheers!!

I get where you're coming from but, I don't think the trend will stop any time soon. I don't have a problem with it to be honest. If I buy a game and I get value for money and enjoy it, I'm happy to pay extra to play more quality content. Horizon Zero Dawn is a good example of this.

With D2, I got the vanilla game as a gift so, technically I got hte game plus all 3 expansions for £50 and I know my hours spent are already into the 100s

Friend request sent. You can join our clan for sure. It isn't a PH clan exactly but, PH is where a lot of us met back at the start of D1. Clan name is Vex Pistols. I'll get one of the admins to send you an invite tonight.

First impressions of Forsaken are good. Story missions I've played so far are great fun and there is soooo much to do! thumbup

In my opinion there's a lot worse about the Destiny franchise than just the paid expansions. My main issue is that they have now launched two games at full price that were very incomplete, had lots of problems and were very frustrating to play. What's worse, they then took not days, weeks or months, but years to fix those issues.

In summary, they completely abused their player base.

I'll never pre-order a game from Bungie again and it will take a lot for me to even consider buying another one of their games at all.

Pre ordering anything says a lot more about your game choices than mine sorry.

The new stuff is basically thrall fest, every sort of new area they just throw tons of these at you as they do insane damage very quickly.

A rather dull attempt to make the game harder lol

Erm, I think there might be an insult in there somewhere but, I'm not quite sure what it is confused

Surely it is which games I'm pre-ordering that says something about my game choices, no?

I pre-ordered Forsaken because I already knew at least half a dozen of the people I've enjoyed playing the Destiny franchise with over the last 3 years had also pre-ordered it. Playing with friends is the whole point of Destiny.

Your description of the new content doesn't match my experience of playing it. Have you actually played it at all?

Either way - to each their own. By all means choose not to play it if it doesn't interest you or, if you want to 'stick it to the man' or whatever. In the meantime, I shall continue to enjoy the game shootbiggrin

I never pay for DLC and never will, so, No I haven't played the new content.

For me, the game now looks like it should when it was released, you guys are the ones paying extra for stuff. So, if you include your purchase price, what have you spent on Destiny 2?

Wasn't an insult or aimed at you, more a general jibe at people paying for DLC and paying for online gameplay.

IN a word and obviously a general simplification and unrealistic aim, you are ruining it for everyone and it's only gonna get worse!

See my earlier post, I paid £50 for all of it, including Forsaken. I have paid much more for the Destiny franchise overall but, have had my moneys worth.

This is just how some games work now. The development costs over the lifetime of the game, the server costs, the bandwidth costs - all have to be paid for while the game-world exists online and new content is released. Would you be happier to pay £120 a game up front but, have free DLC throughout it's life?

Anyway, this is a Destiny 2 thread for people playing it on PS4 to discuss the game itself, rather than for players who have no interest in playing it on any platform to discuss their view of the games industry. Let's not derail it any further. smile
