I thought it might be useful to have a thread where people can give each other a heads up on Steam sales.

Right now, there is a sale on that ends 6pm tomorrow (ie. Monday 19-Jun-17) and amongst the items in the sale are Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, at £7.49 apiece.

So many games so little time...

Might keep an eye on VR stuff but I haven't played half the games in my library as it is...

My current favourite is in the sale: Ori & the blind forest only £7.50

A really good platformer, with great visuals and a stunning soundtrack.

Paypal have an offer on too where if you spend £20 on steam they'll give you a fiver back. Not that I need any more games, but you know, sales and all that.

A Steam sale seems to be the male equivalent of the Christmas\New Year sales that a lot of females partake in. You buy stuff because it's cheap, not necessarily because you actually need it. biggrin

I'm interested in a Space Sim that is pick up and play not too grindy, doesn't require a HOTAS and I can play in VR.

Are there any alternatives to Eve and Elite that are worth keeping an eye on in the sale?

No Man's Sky? hehe no seriously if it's reduced to £5, ok £3. And only for the VR aspect, so maybe £2 if you must.

Does NMS do VR now?

I might be tempted to give it another go if so.

I will probably get some more games, I'm a lot more restrained these days and sales aren't as good as they used to be. I have 451 games in my steam library. I can't see an easy way to see how many I've actually played. It's less than a hour in the last two weels and that was on PUMG. So, errr maybe if its something I really want or really cheap.

Have a look at Everspace. More of a shooter than a sim but, getting some good reviews on steam. I'm waiting for them to implement HOTAS support before buying it (which they are currently working on), but there is a good deal to be had during the sale, I may pick it up anyway.

So the sale started tonight and I got a few things off my wishlist, using the PayPal £5 off £20, and it worked. Is it a one time thing or could I get £5 off another £20 of games to keep in my steam list and maybe play one day? hehe

Ooh! "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" Season Pass down from £24.99 to £6.24 - I was hoping that might be in the sale.

Likewise "Day of the Tentacle (Remastered)" is £2.74 down from £10.99

Ker-chinggg!

Edit: I read a good review on Abzu and that is £4.26 so that's in the cart too.

Nothing on my wishlist with particularly tempting discounts, or really, in general, looking at my home page. Going thru some curators to look for anything I may want, so here's some picks under a tenner I spotted that are all at cheapest ever prices;

£3.74 Hand of Fate
£7.49 Halcyon 6
£5.99 Offworld Trading Company
£3.73 Steamworld Heist
£7.59 Darkest Dungeon (this was also at this price on the 19th, coincide DLC I suppose, not interested in the game personally though)
£3.62 Guild of Dungeoneering
£4.74 Tales from the Borderlands (not into these, but enjoyed seeing all of it 'played' on a stream)
£2.99 This War of Mine
£3.19 Shadow of Mordor (never sure whether to get this or not, the upcoming game looks fantastic)
£2.24 Transistor

Seems the PayPal offer is no longer available. I get "Thanks you for being a loyal customer. Unfortunately, you can't save any more offers for this merchant at the moment".

A quick google suggests that there was a paltry £24k put aside for this and when that was expended the offer expired. Which is a bit pants.

Edit: T&Cs of the offer say "The Offer shall not be available if the aggregate monetary amount credited to customers reaches GBP 24,000.00"

I think it's pretty crap that the offer is meant to run from 20th June to 5th July, but has run out after less than 3 days.

69p for Half Life 2... never played it before. Just grabbed me non stop for 3-4 hours... Fair enough it looks a bit old now, but the gameplay is brilliant. Just been bombing around on a boat, being chased by a chopper. Absolute steal.
