If anyone notices any good 'walking sims' in the sale... gis a heads up?

I think I've played the well known ones already (Firewatch, Ethan Carter, Gone Home, Dear Esther, Soma)

I'm just looking for an atmospheric, story based game to lose myself in for a few hours. At 34 I'm a bit bored of killing people in FPS's.

Long Dark is VERY good, maybe more of a survival element but very atmospheric

I too would be interested.

I very much enjoyed "Everyone's Gone to the Rapture" (even if it did play like an episode of The Archers), and "Gone Home". But for some reason Ethan Carter just didn't gel for me and I gave up on it.

Edit: Soma is £6.89 right now, and I haven't played that. So maybe I will give that a go.

69p for Half Life 2... never played it before. Just grabbed me non stop for 3-4 hours... Fair enough it looks a bit old now, but the gameplay is brilliant. Just been bombing around on a boat, being chased by a chopper. Absolute steal.
Get the free graphics overhaul mod - http://cinematicmod.com

Its better than the free update on Steam.

Edited to add you might need Episode 1 and 2 also for the cinematic mod I think.

I found The Solus Project a good break. There's death in there, but of a different kind in general. It did get frustrating in parts where I kept getting lost (no map), but my sense of direction is a bit wayward. If you take time to read all of the readable bits throughout the game it all pulls together to be rather interesting.

It's all based around crash landing on an alien world and investigating it as a future habitable planet for the human race. Certainly has lots of walking in it and some interesting puzzles, plus some really freaky bits, particularly, without giving spoilers some "small" things that you discover about half way through.

I'm interested in a Space Sim that is pick up and play not too grindy, doesn't require a HOTAS and I can play in VR.

Are there any alternatives to Eve and Elite that are worth keeping an eye on in the sale?
Saw another one that might interest you with a decent 50% discount. 'House of the Dying Sun'
http://store.steampowered.com/app/283160/House_of_...

Quite a few on my wishlist have good discounts, some not so good. Only game I've purchased so far today wasn't even in the sale - it's a stunt kite VR simulator thumbup

Superhot is discounted but, not by much. Assetto Corsa 50% off too.

I can see this weekend getting expensive hehe

Well, it looks like that PayPal offer really is ended after less than 3 days. Utterly ridiculous.

I guess I may as well hit "Purchase" on the £20.13 of items in my cart then, as it doesn't look like the offer is going to be renewed.

Currently I have "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided DLC - Season Pass", "Day of the Tentacle Remastered", "ABZU Deluxe Edition", and "SOMA" in the cart.

If you like 'walking sims' then Soma is one of the best games I've played in a long time. Really drags you in, and the story is great. Proper science fiction stuff!

I have a demo of that on the Xbox. Might give it a go on the PC if it's cheap.

I liked Ethan Carter...the ending is VERY dark.
I would try it again.

I noticed Dishonoured 2 is 50% off and I might spring for Onward for the Vive.

Vive looks like a good deal if you are in the market. $50 off, $50 in credit and Bridge crew included.

Only found two titles so far that I can make a point of finding the time to play.

South Park: The Stick of Truth - £6.24
Black Mesa - £5.99

Currently playing Wolfenstein New Order, Borderlands 2 and Bioshock Infinite. Three cracking games that I should probably have gotten around to playing sooner.

Good choices! Bioshock Infinite especially. The way it ties all the Bioshock games together at the end is mind-blowing (no spoilers).

If you like Wolfenstein: The New Order then get Wolfenstein: The Old Blood too. I'd say it is arguably the better game.

The only negative thing I'd say about Borderlands 2 is that it felt rather 'more of the same' to me and lost some of the original's charm, but it's a good romp for sure.

Black Mesa was freeware on release, but it is superb! I'd not hesitate to pay £6 for it.

It seems everyone is using the store at the moment, Steam took two hours to download a 9Mb patch earlier! Not surprising its busy mind, I'll just have to wait a day or two to download the other games I bought last night.

PayPal offer has been confirmed as definitely expired.

Unsurprisingly, people aren't very impressed.

Kholat is half price. Definitely atmospheric and quite pretty but wasnt my cup of tea. Reviews are a bit marmite.

Never played the original Borderlands so thought I'd give the sequel a chance. The Old Blood is currently sitting in my basket and will probably be bought tonight along with the other two games in there.

Not played Stick of Truth but I've been told it's like a 10-20 hour South Park episode so I'd imagine it's pretty funny. Only thing that I'm not sure of is if the version on Steam is the uncut version or not. It appears that there were two versions when it was released but I can't tell which the one is on Steam. Uncut hopefully!

Figured Black Mesa is worth a punt as I know that's one that I will get around to playing eventually but from what I understand it's still Early Access and without an ending. Anyone able to confirm this?

Stick of Truth was cut on the PS4, but uncut on the PC.
