Just to add to the Raspberry Pi comments questions in this thread:
I recently bought a 'fully loaded' and preconfigured RetroPi system.
It was £100 and came with everything including 2 x PS3 controllers, HDMI cable, power supply etc.
No faffing whatsoever.
Just turn it on and you are taken straight to very smart looking menus where you can select from about 15 different consoles and then around 5500 games. You can either scroll or search through the games and they all have a description and box art as you click through them.
It's got pretty much every console and handheld game system you can think of, plus thousand or so Arcade/Coin Op games.
I'm blown away by it to be honest.
I've mostly been playing Arcade, SNES, Gameboy and PS2 stuff on it.

Highly recommended.
Best £100 I've spent in ages. Over 5000 games!

I want one of those now. I have the mini NES and have pre-ordered the mini SNES. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222486737110

If I buy the raspberry thing I could sell my mini NES and SNES on eBay. So long as I don't make a loss I am not after profit.

Holy crap I had no idea such pre loaded things existed!
It's only when you plug it in and switch it on that you realise the enormity of what you have just purchased... It took me about 30 minutes just to look through the Gamboy games!

This looks great! Quite RPG heavy, but they were great at the time - I loved Earthbound, though it wasn't ever released in the UK (I played a US import with a pal converter). I have a SNES in the loft somewhere, but not got it out for years and don't have too many games with it.
I don't understand stock issues with this and the NES though. Are they limited edition?

Ridiculously limited edition. No where near enough. I don't understand stock issues with this and the NES though. Are they limited edition?

I know nothing about raspberry pi things - do all the games run as smoothly and look the same as the originals? Or is it ever jerky or weird in any way?
I've played with mine fairly extensively since I got it a couple of months ago, and 99% of the time everything works as it should.Very occasionally you will find that a menu pops up while trying to load a game that will claim something about 'incorrect bios or settings' it something, but I've always just selected 'boot' or 'load' or similar and they've worked.
I think I've probably come across two or three games that haven't worked quite perfectly and gave jerked or whatever.
All the MAME games are direct from coin-op or Arcade cabinets so you have to work out which button to press to put the coins in to play the game!
I guess there will always be minor hiccups here and there, but as far as I'm concerned you are getting a two controllers, a boat load of consoles, and 5500 games for £99 so it's well worth it even with the little niggles.
I bought all the components for the Pi listed on page 1 here on Amazon (minus the controller and SD card) and then bought a pre-configured card on eBay.
5 minutes after I'd unboxed everything I was up and running, my XBox One pad was plug and play via USB, it was all literally all idiot proof.
The menus etc are really nicely done and everything I've tried runs like a dream. I have a Mega Drive in the loft with a few hundred games, ditto Master System and Atari 7800. Being able to play all those without faffing around is a revelation.

To temper the above im computer illiterate despite being in my 30's! I have had mine since friday have spent about four hours trying to make it work.
So far i have one os with kodi on but have only got as far as checking the os works, im assuming i need some sort of remote or keyboard to enable a search.
And i have one os with retropie. I have managed to configure a controller but so far i have no games loaded and if im honest i have no idea of how to get the games on. I assumed i would just drag and drop the files i have downloaded and winrar'd (not sure what that does but i know i need to use it) onto the same memory stick the os is on but it seems as though i either need to do it wirelessly (back to needing a keyboard) or via a seperate usb stick.
Wish id bought a fully loaded one.
Not saying their rubbish im just saying for those who say anyone can do it theres always one who still wont be able too!

So how did you know it came with the games when they give disclaimers about no games included due to copyright? Do they all tend to include the games anyway?

I have one and can confirm most MAME games play fine. The console games however don't play like the originals as the wireless controller is a little laggy. I've tried a wired controller and it's a little better but still not the same as the original. If you like gaming though I can 100% recommend an Oculus Rift!!

hi where / what do you search for for the pre-configured card? Does it just plug straight into the pi parts as listed?5 minutes after I'd unboxed everything I was up and running, my XBox One pad was plug and play via USB, it was all literally all idiot proof.

Despite being 36 and computer literate, I am well past the days of having to fiddle with things to make them work.
IMO £99 is a tiny price to pay to have something just plug in and work straight away.
Kudos to anyone who can do it, but I simply cannot be bothered!

Ok, I've been looking at this too - looks amazing. Though no stock on that link and I don't need the controllers.
So how did you know it came with the games when they give disclaimers about no games included due to copyright? Do they all tend to include the games anyway?
I simply messaged the guy and asked and he said that all the games were included 'free'.So how did you know it came with the games when they give disclaimers about no games included due to copyright? Do they all tend to include the games anyway?
I suppose if in doubt just message the sellers and ask if it comes ready to go with all the games on.
