Bought one (and the NES Classic) for myself as a Christmas treat.

Apparently they are going out of production. Wouldn't want to miss out. smile

Got some receivers to use my 8bitdo SNES controllers with either my NES or SNES classic which is better than using the standard controllers. In saying that, I jailbroke my Analogue Super NT so that now has every SNES game running from an SD card, don't think it will run SuperFX games though, haven't tried yet.

In order to improve the graphics and raw computational power of the console, some of the cartridges had an extra chip in them. The most famous of which was Starfox.

Have a read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_FX

God no!

You'd think so but have a quick google, the reviews are pretty bad as it basically runs poor emulation software.

No idea. Wanted to relieve my youth. Had both NES and Snes emulators on the PC, but it's not the same.

I've got mine connected to the TV. 4 player Mario Kart 64's where it's at. (Also 4 player Mario Tennis which imo is v underrated).

My understanding is that it has been poorly received by fans (poor game selection in particular).

It was the poor game selection that stopped me getting one. Only a couple of games in there of any interest

Apparently many of the games are the pal 50hz versions rather than US 60hz versions so they are a bit slower. I've read an article that says the SNES classic can run the PS games better then Sony's version.

Yes, I saw a video on YouTube showing the two systems working side by side.

I get the feeling this was a bit of a cynical marketing exercise by Sony with the hope to jump on the back of the Nintendo Classic's success.

Seems in their rush, they've done a bit of a half arsed job of it. Shame.

As soon as my loft conversion is done and I get my man cave sorted, my original SNES will be coming out of storage. Rose tinted glasses are being cleaned as we speak...
Well it took a while but I've just unboxed my original SNES and PS2, both working fine after many years in my mum's loft thumbup
