Now showing as unavailable
That's reassuring to the people who pre-ordered, no unlimited supply means we'll be more likely to receive one.NewNameNeeded said:

As soon as my loft conversion is done and I get my man cave sorted, my original SNES will be coming out of storage. Rose tinted glasses are being cleaned as we speak...
The 16-bit graphics have stood the test of time pretty damn well (more so SNES than Megadrive given the larger colour palette). Compare that to PS1 or 2 games which look truly god-damn awful, by comparison.I've had my SNES out for some time and whilst it only gets occasional use Mario Kart, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Bomberman, Super Mario World, Secret of Mana, Legend of Zelda ... they are all just as playable today as they ever were.
Commodore Amiga A600
SNES
PS1
PS2 Slimline
PS3
It's mainly the SNES I'm looking forward to getting back out (it's been untouched for many many years), but I need to purchase Mario Kart and a second controller if memory serves me correctly.

Apparently Nintendo has produced significantly more units than the NES classic, so the scalpers might be left with stock they cant sell. Also whilst these units are for sale on ebay at comedy pricing, are they actually selling? You would need you head checked if you are willing to drop £300 on a SNES / NES Classic.
I admit I was mildly tempted to buy a SNES classic, but just downloaded OpenEMU and some roms and got my fix of SNES gaming / nostalgia for free. After about 1 hour the rose tinted glasses came off and I realised I had just saved myself £80.

Just to add to the Raspberry Pi comments questions in this thread:
I recently bought a 'fully loaded' and preconfigured RetroPi system.
It was £100 and came with everything including 2 x PS3 controllers, HDMI cable, power supply etc.
No faffing whatsoever.
Just turn it on and you are taken straight to very smart looking menus where you can select from about 15 different consoles and then around 5500 games. You can either scroll or search through the games and they all have a description and box art as you click through them.
It's got pretty much every console and handheld game system you can think of, plus thousand or so Arcade/Coin Op games.
I'm blown away by it to be honest.
I've mostly been playing Arcade, SNES, Gameboy and PS2 stuff on it.

Some knob on a facebook group paid someone £100 for a SNES pre-order, before the Nintendo store had even had their pre-orders open.

Highly recommended.
Best £100 I've spent in ages. Over 5000 games!
