My thoughts after a few days...

1) They’ve completely ripped the heart out of tuning/upgrades, which was one of the unique features of Forza. Racing a heavily modified Megane against a 911 is now simply not an option.

2) To compound that misery (apparently done to bring everyone closer) they’ve removed class based leaderboards AND any way of hot lapping. Mario Kart has this!

3) The AI is an embarrassment. Park on a straight and they will just drive straight into you, keeping their foot in until they’ve pushed you off their line.

4) Mods/Loot Crates, the VIP shenanigans and the time limited speciality dealership. Just no.

5) Surprisingly buggy on XBox. Drivatar liveries are flat out broken (T10 have acknowledged this), the Drivatar agression setting seems to be back to front and the basic issues with painting/decals that have been around for years still haven’t been addressed.

The handling on a pad is just glorious, it’s basically the only reason I wanted the game, but that’s worthless if I can’t enjoy it.

Wow, I'm obviously easy to please as the only gripe I have is the car class restrictions and not PI restrictions. Apart from that, I'm about 30 hours in and it's going okay

Me too, I just want them to sort the lighting out in the painting area.

yeah, me too! Loving it so far. Admit that i'm not sure about all that loot box micro transactions stuff but the actual main bit which is driving cars around tracks feels great, really happy with it. I sort of like the progression and leveling up as its not too hard not to easy and it freshens it up a bit. I've only done a few online races which as usual ended up in a first corner crash! I'll just wait until we can get a lobby of friends together then it should be fine.

I'm also loving it! Played way too much already, I've completed the third championship and I'm currently doing the Spa Endurance race on extra long race length.. 14 laps in out of 69 hehe

Very good game in my opinion, I even downloaded FIFA 18 over night but haven't been tempted to play it over this just yet.

This is my main complaint, the lighting in the livery editor is just plain wrong - very dull and flat. Makes it difficult to see what you're doing and any colours you choose will look different out on the circuit. Such a bizarre thing for T10 to get wrong...

when online and groups become a thing, we should have a pistonheads group, of like minded people that aren't about first corner crashing, just not sure if we will be able to have the cars we want in a race with new class system etc, time will tell!

I've been playing quite a bit since Saturday as it came early from a pre-order.

I've been a die hard forza fan from the very first one and this is a bit of a disappointment to be honest. It's not bad by any means but I agree with all the complaints from everyone on here.

One big thing I'm annoyed about is the lack of new cars! It's all just cars from Horizon 3. The only good thing is Porsche is not dlc now. But there's so many good cars missing, like where is 675LT, 720S, GT3 991.2, Huracan performante, 812 superfast and heaps of new hot hatches etc?! Wait I know exactly where they'll be...dlc.

Finished the Spa 100 earlier after 2 hours (with breaks) and levelled up to over 20, all for an achievement hehe

My copy arrived the other day, I’m torn between playing it now or waiting for the Scorpio.

Getting quite into it now. Mainly hot hatch online. How well you do is very much pot luck based on how you escape the first corner. Spa is the worst. Long straight up to a hairpin bend. hehe

It's pretty nice overall. Only gripe I have is the grip levels. It seems you can take the fast corners just like you would in FM6, yet you get a tighter bend and you have to slow down a disproportionate amount or you go straight off.
Also if you understeer in a FWD it take ages to tighten your line back up even if you've lifted off altogether.
Apart from that though it's great. My Abarth 695 Biposto kicks ass around Maple Valley short circuit. I'm always 1st or 2nd.

Can't wait to get some proper time in at the weekend.

Ultimate edition VIP is going to be restored to how it was in FM7, with x2 credits for every race instead of the x2 cards for so many races as it is now. To say sorry T10 are sending out 1m credits and 4 Forza Edition cars. https://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/news/fm7_lau...

That's good news. I'm not struggling for credits, but they should have communicated the VIP changes before release.

Will be buying the standard release today. The excess of credits took some of the challenge out of F6. I don't like endless grinding but there needs to be a happy medium.

I'm holding off until the One X is released but I'm the same as you. Don't know whether to get VIP as it became a bit easy and I bought cars I never drove.

Suppose I could just save the money and buy the expensive cars that I never get round to buying, the Shelby Daytona etc. Decisions, decisions.

Hat's off to them for acting fast and making VIP permanent as it should have been (based on every other game).

The free cars and $1million is a nice bonus too.

I'm enjoying the game and I must say my biggest annoyance was the above situation with VIP. The only other thing I want back is hot lapping. Used to love just going to maple valley and working on shaving tenths off and testing tunes. That needs to come back (I know you can do a track day kind of thing to get virtually the same thing, but I want an actual 'Hot Lapping' option).

Okay, I have another couple of gripes.

- In the bid to make the AI more challenging, instead of actually getting them to go faster, they've just tuned the cars faster. I was in an F40 at almost 200 when a Countach flew past me like I was standing. Really off putting and takes the fun out of the game.

- Instead of racing in classes you're stuck with a car that's limited by genre. Even if you pick a lower class car and upgrade it, you can't change the tyre compound because it breaks regulations. Also really off putting - I miss taking on supercars in little hot hatches!

EDIT:

- In free play you can no longer limit to to say Exotic GT and then run your own car. It has to be almost standard again so you can't run a P class car as the type limited to S class. They've managed to suck the fun right out of this game. Impressive!

So after allowing an hour to install I've now started the 32GB update. fking embarrassing that the industry has got to this stage. Dev's have nothing but contempt for the customer to allow such unfinished ste get through QC. I HAVE A 20 MEG LINE YOU ttS!
