Had a play about on this. Some of the results are a bit bizarre though.

If I put up a car with better numbers in every stat, same or better tyres I still lose. Absolutely no idea what else I'm meant to consider?

Better tyres is not necessarily better. For example, performance tyres although "better" than standard tyres only work in the dry on asphalt. If its wet or any other road surface they are considerably worse.

Still enjoying it, but still getting oddities: As someone has posted above, I had a car with better stats than what I was racing and still lost. Got a free pack of "UK" cars, three of which were not UK cars, and to top it all last night I did a 0-150mph race (against a car who's top speed was 143!) in my 154mph car, but still got a DNF as my car apparently stopped trying at 149mph.

Lots of other factors seem to play a part too. For example ground clearance is important on city street for speed humps.
The match making on the multiplayer is fked up though. You keep getting your arse handed to you by the same person.

I had a feeling that might be the case; when you look at the full stat cards for each car it goes into all sorts of info such as weight, ride height, handling etc, whilst the main display just does speed, 0-60 time and grip. Looks like it pays to look a little deeper than face value stats, and probably explains some of the losses I've had, which I should have won on face value stats.

Ive been overdoing this due to being quiet at work. At the end of each round you can click Race Info and it gives a summary of the winning cars advantages. eg tyres better for conditions, ground clearance, traction control fitted etc.

Got two more free packs of cards today, one for Premium Off-Roaders, and another for normal Off-Roaders. Each pack had five cards, each pack had three very much not off-road vehicles in each. What I did get though might allow me to beat the Hummvee in the USA's uphill challenge though, nothing I've had previously has come close!

Got a Cadillac Escalade (0-60 in 5.7s) and Volvo XC90 V8 from the free stuff this morning, so hoping they'll be more effective than my Subaru Justy on hill climbs hehe

The free stuff must be coordinated then, rather than random drops. Did you find that most of the cars in each pack weren't off roaders? I only ended up keeping four of the ten I got, Honda Pilot 4WD, Mitsubishi ASX, Subaru Forester and a G-Wagon.

I downloaded this game after reading this thread and have been playing for a couple of days.

I feel like it's a good idea, but seriously let down by the way it occasionally ignores all of your stats and allows the other driver to win.

I've just had an upgraded Caterham 21 lose to a standard Vel Satis on asphalt in the dry... I had faster 0-60, faster top speed, better grip and better tyres... I clicked the "race info" button at the end of the race to see why they won... Apparently the Vel-Satis had "better mid-range acceleration". WTF? That's not even a statistic in the game!

Things like that happen too often and it's ruining the game for me. If your stats are better, you should win.

Also you should be able to upgrade your tyres and a $1,000 engine upgrade should give you more than a 0.01% speed increase.

Yep, in the 2 packs other than the Escalade and XC90 the only other 4WD was a Honda CRV (which I sold), and everything else was pretty boring.

Been playing this for a couple of weeks now. Finally beat all levels with 3 stars and collected all bonuses but Monaco which is a pain in the arse. I've learnt not to buy any car packs as they tend to be rubbish and instead spend my cash on upgrading cars. I'm not sure how you get all these supercars that are advertised though...

The way I did it was to beat the levels on one star, beat the final boss to get their car and then go back and beat them all with it. Carry that on and it makes it so much easier.

This is what I'm doing as well. Or at least it was until I completed Finland, which was a massive PITA with all the difficult off-road courses, and my reward was a crappy FWD Focus grumpy

Yeah, that's the worst one by far. UAE is good because of the X5 which is fast both on and off road but the Camaro you get from the second USA one I believe will monster anything before Monaco.

Notifications are starting to piss me off.

Telling me my cars are serviced, or even more annoying a car I don't actually have pending is about to expire.

Can't find an option in settings either?

I got annoyed with this; there's nothing in-game to switch off notifications, but I was able to switch them off by going into the phone settings in the general app section and telling it to turn off notifications for that game.

Also just found out today that the game uses rather a lot of data, in fact its just up over 500Mb in just the week or two I've been playing it - its used all my data up and I've got two weeks left until it refreshes. Cheers game, seems it must be downloading what cars I get in packs or winnings rather than having all that info installed in the app.

Recently downloaded this due to the thread. I am loving it so far.

I get what people say about better cars not always actually winning but I've found the stats they show aren't always the factors you need to consider, like speed bumps, the fact 4wd may say it has good grip but that doesn't transfer to handling all sorts, it is a proper thinking game although sometimes you really can't win.

The Honda City Turbo is my favourite in the game, good upgrades and fly's on all the karting tracks!
