The mid range acceleration thing is a little bit confusing though - you have to admit biggrin

100% but you can have a little guess based on it being NA or forced induction to help you there

the games fun and all but cant help feel at about 40% campaign it gets to a pay to win model, The prizes i pick after winning dont increase so getting $800 dollars as prize when i need car packs costing $45000 odd.

I won a competition in italy against zonda's etc and the price is a D class ford bio focus. Ive had that car about 7 times now despite meant to have hundreds of cars in the game.

Easy enough to complete the campaign mode just with prize cars. The boss cars can beat most things. Then you just need something like a tuned elise for slaloms and any small circuits. Tuned Trailblazer for anything offroad. A few yank things can do fast drags. Hardest thing in the campaign is getting cars with off road tyres for those events.

Multiplayer is totally pay to win though. If youre not totally outclassed you just end up racing people using the Prize McLaren, Prize Subaru, Prize Camaro. Elise + one other car so it all get a bit samey.

The Vel Satis beat my R5 Turbo (0-60 in 5.9s) and Subaru Alycyone (0-60 6.3s).

Sometimes it is just a bit silly.

Has anyone beat Monaco? I can't beat the final boss with the 12C and it's really annoying me

I beat Monaco. I can't remember exactly how, but having the 12c makes life a lot easier.

I managed to bag myself a Zonda F in one of the packs but now I don’t have enough RQ to use it to beat Monaco. FFS.

Just farm some from old events then. Most people in Monaco have to take a loss against the 12C and then pull back the points in the other round. I used the Elise to beat the KTM. M3 to beat the TVR (though there are a lot of cars that beat this). The dirt road isnt too hard to win. Cant remember what I used on fast circuit but just meant I only had to lose to the McLaren by about 150 points which my E500 managed.

Definitely is sometimes, could of been weather and tyre dependant though, performance tyres suck in anything but dry asphalt

Those McLarens are all tuned another level above yours, you can see the yellow dots on the picture of it how tuned it is. Annoying as its a 100% loss on multiplayer and I dont even have cars to do the upgrade,

You can also see the Elise is tuned differently. Some you win, some you lose depending on the circuit and how the owner tuned it.

How is this even possible? I've completed it 99% and I haven't even seen those cars, let alone own them...

Enjoyed this game initially. I’m at 64% and now really struggling to get any further. Like so many free games, they’re modelled towards the player spending real money at some stage I suppose.

The one I’m stuck on is the last level of the US, Nevada. Not a single star yet. In fact, my Subaru SVX (0-60, 7.3s) has just been beaten by a Chevrolet Blazer (0-60, 18.2s) due to “Better performance fingerprint for surface conditions.” Both cars 4x4 and the SVX has a better grip figure.

Probably down to tyres? If it's on a dirt track then off road tyres work best (I think).

I've had the same thing as above with the same tyres, better grip, more power... I can only assume it thinks the car is over-powered for the conditions.

I really wish it would stick to the printed figures. If you were allowed to make up statistics on the spot in top trumps you'd never finish a single round!

Hello guys, this is Matt from Hutch, creators of Top Drives.
Great to see that many of you are enjoying the game!

Some really positive comments and also some really great points for improvement and development.
This is a game the team really enjoyed making, and we think is pretty unique and appeals to, well, hopefully you guys and other automotive aficionados.
Many of the design team are heavily into their cars and can spend all day just chin wagging about them (hence the lack of game updates!).

Next game update comes soon and more to follow after that with more cars and manufacturers and changes to multiplayer.
Feel free to ping me directly with any questions or suggestions or frustrations etc. All feedback is good feedback.

Just to address a few points in the discussion.

Got to a point where I'm in a 1 mile drag race against a Pagani Zonda, beats everything I've got by 200+ every time, literally nothing I can do about it.

Multiplayer can be a bit brutal at times. particularly as many of these guys are spending hard cash to upgrade their hands. In the next patch (coming within the week) we are introducing the possibility to skip opponents in multiplayer, which will make things more forgiving and result in more wins for tactical players.

Currently trying to beat the German boss level. There is a 0-150 challenge, I've got an upgraded car that is supposed to top out at 167, but stops around 130 so I lose by 250 points! Can't get back from that. Anyone get a car that will do that speed?

this is something we didn't explain too well in the game and will be adding more info in the up and coming patch. Cars which (when stock) are topping out fairly close to the required 150 mph or have fairly poor acceleration will just run out of road before reaching the speed and return a DNF.

I've just had an upgraded Caterham 21 lose to a standard Vel Satis on asphalt in the dry... I had faster 0-60, faster top speed, better grip and better tyres... I clicked the "race info" button at the end of the race to see why they won... Apparently the Vel-Satis had "better mid-range acceleration". WTF? That's not even a statistic in the game!

The races are simulated as accurately as possible based on a pretty wide range of variables. We've been working with Evo to try and build an accurate set of data for each car. Sometimes the info returned on specific results is not very enlightening though, something we can definitely improve (mid-range acceleration!). Some factors are not immediately obvious and honestly can be a case of trial and error in finding the best car.

Notifications are starting to piss me off.

You should be able to switch them off if they get a bit spammy, sorry about this.

Also just found out today that the game uses rather a lot of data

Definitely best off playing with wifi when possible, probably obvious I know. As mobile games go, it's not hugely heavy but it can still use up a fair bit of data.

These are the ones that baffle me.

This is related to a bug where upgraded cars are losing to stock versions of the exact same car. This is definitely a weird and wonderful issue which the dev team are working on solving. It's been a bit complex and the fixes we have looked at so far have a knock-on effect to other areas of the game. We are still looking at the best way to solve this problem which seems to be related to the additional top speed and acceleration resulting in loss of traction and slower track times.

I really wish it would stick to the printed figures. If you were allowed to make up statistics on the spot in top trumps you'd never finish a single round!

The game definitely goes beyond printed figures on the cards. It can be frustrating at times but then some real-life matchups can defy the numbers. We think it adds additional depth to the game and makes it a whole lot more interesting to play. To go along with the game we got the chance to head out with the guys at Evo and film a few real life drag battles and track battles. We've also been working a bit with Dan Grundy, one of British Drift Championship drivers, following him about and filming some of his events. If interesting, you can see the vids on the youtube channel HutchTV. This is my pet project so any feedback always appreciated!

Thanks again for playing Top Drives and if I can get any more specific questions across to the dev team, please ask.

Wow. That's not something you see every day. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to ask questions.

I have completed the single player part of the game. is there any plans to add additional rounds? I could use a few more "boss" cars.

Ps any chance you can sort me out a Bugatti? As a favour?

Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the replies guys.

In answer to your campaign question: Yes the plan is for more single player campaign content. When you beat the final Monaco boss, he alludes to this.
It won't be in the next update, as we are still working on it, but certainly coming.

I would love a Chiron too! I've never managed to unlock this car in the game, pretty rare.
