It’s like when someone refurbs a bar etc for a few weeks, people find somewhere new and they may like it more, so you better have something impressive to bring them back.

Usually you download Tuesday and the game changes Thursday, so will it be 2pm Thursday for those in the UK? That is a long wait.

That or everyone’s on holiday for a week with no access online and someone forgot to end the loop so it loads the new season, lol.

Seeing grown men getting upset about this has made my day today.

One woman said her kid had spent £3000 on skins, that can't be right?

She is an idiot if she let him.

I kept a tally of how much my lad spent. £50 was his limit since it started.

bloody hell, i ive not played fornite in a long time, but played it daily for about maybe 9 months. i never spent a thing apart from 1 or 2 of the cheap season pack things. Dont see the point in wasting money on cosmetic things that don't improve the game.

as for whats going on.. the most likely thing is they've brought down the servers for a huge update/overhaul. wasn't it said somewhere that they're going to intruduce AI/bots? so newbies will start of playing with bots and as they get better, so will the bots and they'll get more and more humans to play against.

Seen some pics on Twitter. I am at work all day weeping

Wonder if I can find an excuse to go and "work from home"

Just means I'll watch the new map on YouTube and remember why although I can play and win games of Apex my mid thirties brain just couldn't cope with Fortnite

It's interesting.

I'd say the graphics are better although slightly different on the standard PS4.

After the first game whilst being shown the battlepass intro my controller disconnected, which sent it into a hissy fit and wouldn't respond to most buttons so I had to reload again.

The bandage bazooka is 2 slots in your load out, maybe other things will use 2 as well.

You can gift a battle pass but it is £7.49.

Old replays that are saved now seem useless, no option to watch them from before the upgrade.

The new battlepass levels show no actual number to the next level, quite confusing, no 5 level bump from last battlepass either.

You can fish too,

Slurp fish are 50 health/shield,

I one lake i went fishing twice and got a purple scar each time.

On my 2nd game got a Victory Royale biggrin.

Boats can be used on land (slowly) however do have a missile launcher.

AAAAAND you no longer have to go back to the lobby, you can just join another game when your eliminated.

That sounds good. One of the reasons I play Team Rumble so much is I am a bit crap at the game still, and sometimes in solo mode getting in and out of a game takes longer than the game play itself.

Yeah, you just push triangle to ready up.

Just got my 2nd win, nice. I was at 1hp at one stage.

You can also hide in some objects too.

Had a very quick play (one round!) at lunch. Nice intro into the second chapter, and at first glance it’s changed quite a bit, although the old familiar mechanics appear to be there as well... Looking forward to having a proper play of this tonight.

The new aesthetics are very cool. I like the fishing element, the boats seem fun. Seems like a lack of mobility though, especially for solos. No other vehicles of in place map movement, like the old geysers.

With regards to kids and spending, I give my son a £25 Xbox Gift card each month. I don’t know exactly what he uses it on but he knows that’s all he gets for games besides our shared Game Pass. Guess he spreads it over Fortnite, Roblox or saves some to buy a new game.

There are some lines you can traverse, mainly from the powerplant area IIRC.

It’s really rather good. Graphics are better, there are some nice usability enhancements, and the game seems smoother somehow. Team rumble is still my favourite mode, but they’ve nerfed it a little - way less ammo in the ammo boxes than there used to be, it’s now on a par with solo. Not a fan, as you’re playing for much longer and so need the ammo. Rocket launcher much better than it used to be, I’m finding it a useful (noob!) weapon...

Power lines strung between the pylons. They’re dotted around the map a little, it seems.

I really like it. Graphics are better, sound is better. Map will take some use to finding your way round. Team Rumble has been toned down a lot.

I like the skill based matching and the bots. Makes solo much more interesting for us crap players as we get a few kills and work our way through the game, rather than coming up against some expert in the first 30 seconds and getting wiped. Not got a Victory Royale yet but top 10 a fair few times - only things is they catch you out a little. You come across a "bot" and think Ill try something else here only to realise they are another player, and you're dead.

Some good new weapons too. The sub machine gun and burst rifle are good. I havent found any heavy snipers yet though which are my faves. In fact Purple and Gold weapons are in short supply.

There are also some zip lines like before. They are yellow, rather than red now. In the heavily wooded bit near the swamp.

You can get a lot of mobility using the swimming but only if the flow of river is going to right way, swimming against the current and you are slower than running. I do feel its need a bit more mobility. Twice now I have been caught out in Solo in the storm as I haven't been able to get away.

Hit the boost on the boats just before land and you can launch them quite way in the air.

Really helps to have a sniper rifle in this game now, with long sight lines over hills etc, got 4 Victory Royales yesterday, that's four more than the last month or so, lol.

When you shoot someone in/over water where there is a current, all the items slowly flow down the stream or sometimes beach on one of the edges.

Yeah, the new zip lines can be quite useful, fishing can be good fun too, leaves you vulnerable to attack if someone is quiet though. Like I said, sniper rifles can be lethal on the new map way more than before, with such open expanses and lots of hills.

If you play Duo's or Squads, you can pick up wounded people, even if they are on another team, lol.
