GTAIV

I loved every other GTA and still play GTAV now from time to time, but IV was way off the mark for me. Felt like I was moving in treacle rather than free.

Assassin's creed.

Got it for Xmas on ps3 at the same time COD4 modern warfare, I literally played it twice.

Gave it another chance by downloading a more recent version for 79p on Xbox one, played it once.

Agreed with GTA IV, I struggled with it, maybe managing about 15-20 hours, but then lost my save and couldn't be arsed to go back and start again.

TBH I struggled a little with San Andreas as well, I think it was a little grindy, too much having to eat, build up skills, etc. Probably got about 60% through the missions. GTA 3 and Vice City on the other hand I played to death, god knows how many hundreds of hours I lost to them (and a lot of those hours were clocked after completing the main storylines).

I think IV was a bit too serious? I still enjoyed it, especially the Biker gang add-on, but it didn’t feel fun like GTA V

GTA IV was quite gloomy, and the friendship elements were annoying as they were quite needy calling all the time! Apart from that it was a good game though.

San Andreas wowed me with the scale but I think I got bored and didn't finish it.

Funnily enough I'm playing the Last of Us at the moment for the first time. It is good but feels quite linear and repetitive. The realistic lack of ammo and the pure tension/scariness of it are really good, but I wasn't a fan of Uncharted and the game style is quite similar (linear path with the odd battle or puzzle to solve).

Battlefield 1.

I'm a huge Battlefield fan, 1000's of hours from BF2 up to BF4. BF1 just feels awful in comparison to all the previous titles. Hoping the BF 2018 reverts back to pre BF4 style gameplay.

PUBG, jerky as hell even on XboneX and a fairly limited single map.

The latest CoD, just meh.

I'm struggling to find anything to play at the moment, hoping for good things from Far Cry 5.

It took me three goes to get into The Last of Us, due to early struggles with the controls and stealth mechanics. Once I did though, I could see why it gets so much praise. Utterly fantastic game.

I had to spend 5hours on the latest Fallout before I started to enjoy it. Quite good once you get into it and assume the first few hours are ‘training’, same as Witcher 3 and AC:Origins.

I have to agree. I loved Bf4, played loads of it and was pretty good at is as well.

BF1, tried the Beta, thought this is great, bought the full game, DEEPLY unimpressed. Didn't like it. Put maybe 20 hours into it and haven't touched it since. frown

Not so much "never clicked" as "fallen out of love with"...FSX
Used to download every freebie plane & scenery, spent an absolute fortune on it, could fly VFR via a road map from Key West to Maine, or Sicily to Carlisle, with photoreal scenery, install was 2TB+ and now...
barely touched my joystick for 2 years!

I put a lot of time into it trying to "like" it just left me cold. Same with Witcher 3 funny that you mention that too.

The last two CoD games killed the franchise for me, I used to love playing previous ones.

Story mode - could be.

But online racing in GTAIV was way more fun.
- Great city tracks with traffic for plenty of fun
- Simple mechanics
- And the most important: the cars handling was much-much better

Hell, the car handling is my biggest gripe in GTA V.

Didn’t overly enjoy GTA IV, LOVED The Ballad Of Gay Tony. Perfect level of violence and kitsch.

Started playing COD on PS3.

On the plus side, graphics are decent compared to my aging PC and my TV is bigger than my monitor. (800x600 on my PC is just about playable.)

On the downside
-"big" maps are 12-18 players!!! (I'm used to 64 players on big maps.)
-despite the above, you need a minimum of 8 players for the team games. WTF. I wait for ages sometimes.
-controls are st compared to a mouse and kb
-there's no way of communicating without having a mic/headset(?)
