I picked this up over the weekend, amazing how addictive it is. I've yet to win, but had plenty of top 10 finishes and a few final 2 or 3. I still need to work on my shooting, I find I am losing most 1&1 engagements and I'll only get kills when I have the drop on someone.

I am tempted to force myself into those situations as "training", I tend to play with more caution and at a slower pace.

It can be a good idea to play some games purely to get into fights, to get used to the crappy feeling shooting, using items under pressure etc. The school and the military base are good areas with strong loot tables, so you've got a good chance of having a half decent weapon very soon after you hit the ground, then you can start trying for kills. When I play those type of games, I'll either drop straight into the hot zone, or land outside loot nearby the move in and try to get kills.

In other games I'll play more conservatively but still engage other players that I don't actually need to. I might have some good guns and attachments, armour and consumables that could see me through to the end game, but I'll still try for kills for the fun of the fight.

Generally I find long range shooting on the Xbox to be a bit of a dice roll as the shooting can be a bit dodgy at range. I keep fiddling with my settings and I think I'm settling on something I like now, but the controls are undeniably pretty poor. In general, I find that shooting at ranges of over 100m are a risk, as you give your position away and if you don't have a decent optic and a target out in the open they might well get to cover and you've revealed your position for nothing, all the while someone else is lining up a shot on you that may previously have not known you were there.

I tend to play more aggressively if I get a suppressor. A flash hider used from the shadows under trees or from inside buildings can be useful, if you don't move around too much and crouch or go prone your target will probably have a hard time spotting you and you vastly increase your chances of scoring the kill.

I do agree with you about getting the drop on people. I find that if someone gets the drop on me from a good position it can be very hard to win those engagements. I find the 1 on 1 engagements where both parties know the other is coming to be a total coin toss, with all sorts of stupid jumping, leaning, crouch walking and other goofy looking things going on until one part or the other goes down.

I like playing the first person games a lot because you can't use the third person camera to look around corners and in buildings without exposing yourself, and in turn it's easier to stay hidden. I'd like to see a game mode with unlocked loot, because some of the cool stuff like the AWM, Groza, AUG and M24 just seem so unobtainable, it would be nice to have a play with them. In the one game where I managed to loot a supply drop without getting killed I ended up getting an M24 but there were so few players left I didn't get to shoot anyone with it. I know that fully unlocked loot spawning across the map in regular locations would increase the influence of RNG on the game, but I think it could be fun as an opt-in via game mode, so you knew what you were getting into.

I wouldn't mind a hardcore mode either, where RNG is reduced by removing armour from the game and giving players less health, making it all about shooting skill, tactics and positioning rather than final circles being influenced heavily by high level armour.

I would love to see a Royal Rumble style Last circle game mode... 1 circle already set on the map, big enough for 100 peeps. steadily gets smaller as people die off. Blue zone is Instadeath!

Everyone drops, no weapons, armour etc, and just all duke it out in a massive, free for all fist fight, until 1 person is left!

could you imagine the LAG THO!!! LOL!

Managed my 2nd solo dinner yesterday afternoon. Only managed 3 kills but my game crashed halfway through but I managed to get back in reasonably quickly and was still alive. Was a good day overall. 2nd, 1st, 3rd for 3 games and then later on managed a squad chicken dinner also.

I've only ever got air drop loot 3 times.

the Aug which i never got to use as i killed myself before getting a chance.

The m24 i looted off someone i killed and the arctic warfare which i picked up when a crate dropped literally right in front of me while i was moving across the map. both are hilarious especially watching people react when you are so far away they can't pinpoint you.

Been on the end of the M249 when i walked into a house without being careful.

I've got to remember to screenshot my settings or something, every time there's an update it resets them and I forget where I had them.

Excuse number 324 for being crap at this game hehe

They added in a new bug now, if you have a sidearm and you open the map and zoom in, you'll draw your pistol. Don't make the mistake in the final circles if you're zooming the map in and forget to get your main weapon back out.

The patch didn't reset my settings, but it does sound typically PUBG that it would do something like that, so probably worth taking a screenshot of your settings to refer back to.

I did just get another solo chicken dinner, fighting uphill against a player with a M249, he was absolutely slaying everyone coming up the hill at him but I managed to throw him off and when he came round his cover to scope me out he was looking in the wrong direction. Tough luck, headshot with the SCAR and it was job done.

I noticed that map zoom bug last night as well - lucky it wasn't costly.

played a squad game last night where I was trying to hipfire from the car, not realising I was panning my teammates in it.

I don't normally struggle with the dual map controls bug that much as there are a few visual cues about what you have equipped (ammo count, weapon indicators bottom left..... and the fact that your character isn't holding a gun!). Still, it's not ideal to jump out of a car and have to cycle weapons straight away.

People who drive cars round in circles in the last 10 can fk right off.

Once you get down to say final the 20 they need to disable vehicles.

I finally won one, as others have mentioned on here, the biggest things that have helped me get better are:

Look for a shootout whenever possible when learning, this only makes you better.
Play around with the settings, this instantly helped me.

^^ congrats on your win.

What are the main setting changes you make ?

I had a shocking session last night - 4 rounds and barely got a decent shot off.

It's annoying a lot of the time, i had a game which i took a capture of the last 5 minutes to upload onto xbox live. Everyone left out of 7 was in a vehicle and it ended up being quite hilarious as the circle got smaller and we had less and less space. My nerves got the best of me and i ended up jumping out of mine instead of using the hand brake. Managed to take 1 driver out with the S12K before getting run over.

I had some shocking games last night, 4 out of 5 i didn't get any kills at all. Last game before i gave up i got 2, one i somehow managed to win a shootout with me on top of one of the apartment buildings with no sights at all for either the AKM akm or the scar against a guy hiding behind one one of the hail bails in the field (Yasnay Poly) and another with a guy hiding by the river edge near the tall bridge at Rozhok before getting killed from a headshot by a guy with an AKm pretty far away from me. Fair play to him tbh,

First win last night - super satisfying.

Read the map and circles well and just ended up in completely the right place for the final circle so was able to pick off the last couple of guys relatively easily.

Really beginning to appreciate the benefits of silenced weapons as well.

Xbox players,

We’re now serving up chicken dinners to over 4 million players on Xbox. Thank you for your continued support!
We truly value all of the feedback from across the community. We have a few minor updates to gameplay this week, alongside bug-fixes and performance tweaks, as noted below.

Gameplay

We’ve listened to your feedback and further modified the damage players can inflict on vehicles, increasing areas of vulnerability. This includes:

  • Increased damage to the vehicle body, and significant damage to the wheels when targeted with gunfire
  • Increased vehicle damage when successfully targeted with a grenade
  • Both driver and passenger will suffer increased injuries from crashing into objects or other vehicles (Dacia, UAZ, and Buggy)
  • Slight reduction to player damage when being struck by a vehicle

Optimization

  • Continued optimization to controller input lag
  • Visual quality of the reticle is improved for Xbox One (Red Dot, Holographic, and 2x Sight)

Bug fixes

  • Resolved issue where inventory may highlight the wrong column when looting
  • The sensitivity setting for 4x Scope is now also applied to the permanent scope on the VSS
  • Auto-run (double-clicking the left stick) is disabled when aiming down sights
  • Players can now use the D-Pad while in the map view without switching melee, pistol, or throwing weapons
  • Removing the marker from the map when pressing (Y) will no longer switch primary/secondary weapons
  • Fixed issue where the crosshair is not correctly displayed after players reconnect to a game session

See you in-game,

new patch is generally positive but I don't agree with the increased crashing damage. You already take damage very easily in vehicles.
