I’ve been playing since December but I’m still yet to get a chicken dinner! Got to the last 2 quite a lot in both squad and solo but always lose out on CQB.
My best tactic so far is to jump out over a quiet area and glide to a hidden away cluster of houses and hope there’s good loot there. I tend to hover around the edge near the blue wall of death and abandon the car once the circle gets small enough. If the final circle is in wood I tend to do quite well but I get stuck if it’s out in the open or in a building.

First duo chicken dinner last night! Landed in Poi and just got in the car and drove across the map for some looting time at one of my best spots then held up in Rozhok.SPotted some guys from a rooftop and then ambushed them as they made their way to the last circles which we got lucky with as we ended up being on the ridgeline just outside of the town.
Apart from that a bit hit and miss still in solo. I can normally crack the last 15 reasonably often but struggle to get a win.

anybody else having FPS issues on the X, its almost unplayable.
Not on the X on a day one, but having frame rate issues pop up at the worst times. Normally apart from the render issues at the start and getting kicked out i don't find i have any other issues Sub 10 yesterday. It's quite annoying to have the guy you have the jump on and hit suddenly move 10 meters and be shooting at you. I don't mind getting killed when someone has the upper hand or is just better, but when it's due to performance issues it's hard not to get angry.
Anyone playing without headphones, remember a pair of headphones like Samsung Galaxy ones will work perfectly fine plugged into your controller. The mic even works too.
Doesn't work with iPhone ones though as in their wisdom decided to position the mic and headphone connections the opposite way round to the rest of the world.

Not if we're still using original controllers with the USB connector rather than a 3.5mm jack Doesn't work with iPhone ones though as in their wisdom decided to position the mic and headphone connections the opposite way round to the rest of the world.
£45 seems so much to pay for a controller when I haven't broken this one yet
If my Sennheisers work with my iphone.. does that mean they wouldn't work once I'd bought a new controller? My iphone headphones have no problem working with my laptop...

You can get adaptors for the controllers to convert to 3.5mm. Think they are about £10 and plug into the back of your controller.£45 seems so much to pay for a controller when I haven't broken this one yet

Really do advocate even a cheap surround sound headset for those without, would make your overall gaming experience much better. For any game, competitive or not. In PUBG having a mic is key too for duos and squads (and they are much more fun than solos).
I've gone all singing and dancing though and can answer the phone on it, listen to the TV, has an app where you can change the settings via smartphone, doesn't have any wires and connects to the xbox directly as a device.... or just put it on and pretend I can't hear the wife....
Got a filthy squads win last night. Dropped into Poi, no one around so picked it clean and the circle proceeded to drop just outside the town. Eventually moved out of the town and killed the one remaining person. One kill between 4 of us, probably firing less than 10-15 shots all game and won.

I had Astro A50s (the 2nd gen) for a while but couldn't get on with them (sound quality is great but couldn't ever get the settings right and found myself endlessly messing with them, the mic is also terrible on them). I was waiting for Lucid Sounds LS35Xs (out at the end of March) but saw TB 800X Elites on hotukdeals for a decent price so thought I'd give them a go.
Sound quality isn't quite as good as the Astros but it's still very good, has pre-set profiles for different types of games/media and I haven't played around too much with them yet so maybe I'll find something as good. Also, with no visible mic I often put them on the wrong way round.
Reality is that I might still get the LS35Xs in March but will wait for reviews.
Is there a setting I'm missing that will negate the 'drift' that seems to be built in to my controllers thumbstick?
When hiding out, my aiming reticle starts to drift upwards, without any input on the right stick, making it impossible to just lie in wait.
Google tells me it's a hardware issue, but it happens on different controllers on the same Xbox one s, but not so noticeable on our older Xbox one.
Surely there should be a way to recalibrate the analog sticks to take the issue away? Seem to remember being able to do something similar on PC analog controllers years ago.
It's making PUBG and Fortnite almost impossible to play.

There are some 'fixes' on youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moEjjFJIZzo
best to find the one with the most positive reviews and hope for the best maybe
I bought a new controller and used my Sennheiser audio headphones with a line mic yesterday - huge improvement!

controller drift can be caused by a few things, bearing wear, dust or a drop usually.
is it just a standard xbox one controller?
There's a deadzone setting in PUBG that will help you negate it (and also if you've an elite controller there are deadzone settings in the app too) but you're just postponing the inevitable by using that to stop it drifting. As J8 says, there are loads of guides out there to possible solutions and how to 'service' your controllers.
Hotfix patch out yesterday to solve some of the problems created in patch 7. Got on for one squad game last night and won, finishing with a lovely 2 man spray with a silenced AKM (which I'm not overly fond of usually, much prefer the 5.56 assault rifles).

Had two games last night, came 16th and 4th with both of them being good fun, even though I've got a decent headset and the Dolby Atmos app on the XBOX I still had no idea where I was being shot from each time I died. It's interesting to see how peoples tactics are evolving in the game, it used to be that everyone dropped into the centre of the big towns, now it looks like everyone is trying to parachute as far from the flight path as possible. Still my favourite game at the minute

Simo, when playing squads are you with mates or randoms?
Reason i'm asking is I've only played solo's so far and am a bit weary about squads as i'm s**t and don't want some snot nose 12 year old yelling at me.
I am way to sensitive for online gaming.
Friends usually or I'll use the LFG feature on xbl. Plenty on there just looking for casual fun although you do get some very serious people too. Most also say adults/no kids etc.Reason i'm asking is I've only played solo's so far and am a bit weary about squads as i'm s**t and don't want some snot nose 12 year old yelling at me.

Feel free to add me if you like. GT is same as my name on here.
Solos get boring very quickly and duos/squads are much more fun.

Need to get some more practice in before I accept as it still takes me an age to loot and figure out attachments and what freakin button does what.
I really need more than a few hours a week at this but telly time is hard to come by till after 10pm and i don't like to start a game at that time as i go to bed wired.
