Little tip if you're looking for easy battle points: Stay on the aeroplane until it kicks you off, there's always bots/afk players kicked off with you so you can just follow them down and punch them to death for easy kills and then get on with the game

Another tip, if you disable game dvr on the xbox, you get another 5 FPS (which as it only gets ~20 anyway is a huge gain).

Can't believe how laggy/jumpy/buggy the game is. At least its got the "excuse" of being a preview edition...

first attempt to fix some of the issues today (although the notes on that are a little vague).

And I put it in the wrong thread, so in case anyone missed it; the sweatiest of chicken dinners (0 kills):

Edit: there are a few good setup suggestions out there for sensitivity and elite controllers if anyone has one. I've recently been playing with the delay setting on the right stick and have done a bit better (using the longer sticks too).

I disabled the DVR stuff yesterday and it did make a difference, though it's still a pretty terrible frame rate

I've found the quality of the opposition has gone up considerably since Saturday, people are obviously putting the hours in on it because although I feel I'm getting better at it I'm typically doing worse in terms of where I finish, 4th is still my best

Anyone else finding he updates don't work automatically? Twice this week now I've come to play it and not been able to. The first update made it a lot more jerky too.

I started off thinking this was the most over-hyped load of crap on the planet when I first played it, then something just clicked and I think it's absolutely amazing. Maybe the thing that won me over the patchy they deployed quite quickly to stabilise the fram rate. It's still pretty ropey even on the Xbox One X, which should be capable of much, much higher frame rates given that the textures are poor quality across the board - which I'd be happy to take as a compromise for high FPS, which imo is vastly more important that detailed textures in a shooter like this.

Either way I'm hoping they can fix the lag issues, but the game in general is much improved though still a long way behind the PC version in terms of polish, which is expected since they've been working on the PC version much longer than our console version.

I did get my first chicken dinner last night which I was pretty pleased with, it was a tense finish. It was a three kill game and they all came in the final 10 as the last few circles closed in.

I've had some good co-op games too, though I think it works best as duos and less well as squads of 4. Fighting against 4 man teams can become a total battle of attrition as they repeatedly revive downed squad members and huge quantities of bullets are fired in each direction. I think the tactical gameplay works better, or is at least easier to manage with 2 players. Myself and a friend had a good time the other night doing synchronised shooting on targets.

Still not managed to win, though did come third the other day after killing 5 of the last 12 players but then in the final circle i was in the middle and the other two were either side of me and I couldn't get enough cover. I've found the most important thing to get to increase your chances of making the top 10 is a decent sight/scope for your gun otherwise you have to get into too many closeup fire fights. Great game

Only played it twice (bloody kids monopolising "my" Xbox) taking a surprise fourth in my second game. Involved a couple of bits of action, quite a lot of hiding and a lot of tension.

Enjoying it so far.

Pissed off playing solo for some weapon to be using a car at the end circle.

Got to second with 9 kills, with 3 kills inside 30 seconds, final circle hits me out into a open field with no trees or cover what so ever, try grenading the buggy driver just doing circles, then stood up and unloaded with an m16 guy just u-turned and came after me, so annoying

Does anyone else use Xbox headphones while playing this? If so what do you use?

If you're not wearing headphones you're putting yourself at a major disadvantage against players that do, since directional sound is a huge part of the gameplay. I use Astro A40s.

Just the reply I was looking for, my duo partner didn't think he needed any so I gave him my old XO Ones as I upgraded to XO Seven Pros and his gameplay has improved tenfold. I'll show him this just to prove a point as he's still skeptical and thinks no one else uses headphones hehe

That's my trick, land on the flat roofs and work my way down the building. I catch loads of people out as they think that they're the first one in there hehe

Been playing this a bit and I don’t know why they are saying the graphics are bad, they look and it plays okay. The only thing I’m struggling with is hitting people, I couldn’t hit a barn door, I keep on thinking it’s a lag issue as I think some of them should have hit.
Does anyone know how to look down the scope? I’ve tried looking at the game controls but can’t manage

I suppose people say it's bad because it massively under-performs on the Xbox One X. The frame rates on launch were appalling but they're a lot more stable now but with the hardware under the bonnet the Xbox One X should manage a lot, lot more than 30fps. I have a sneaking suspicion that the framerate might be throttled so as not to put players on the last gen console at a disadvantage. IF that is true I'll hit the roof. The Xbox One was dogged throughout it's life by games being held back technically so they could be cross-platformed with the 360 and they suffered for it. I hope we can get away from developing for the Xbox One and focus entirely on the One X.

Given the low-ish texture quality, lack of dynamic lighting, lack of extensive particle effects, low polygon count in the game elements, I see no reason this couldn't run at 60fps on the One X. That said, the programming is pretty scrappy so high frame rates may be difficult to obtain just because the game is coded like st. You only have to look at the PC version for some bug compilations on Youtube to see the kind of stupid st that happens in this game.

To aim down the sights, click the left trigger once, and click again to pull out of sight mode. Holding the left trigger stabilises your aim in third and first person mode. Press the right bumper to engage first person mode, I find it easier to engage targets in first person as it's less jarring when switching into aiming down the sights.

Yeah I run around in 3rd person, close shoot in 1st person and only look down the scope when I'm long distance stealth shooting. Try changing the sensitivity settings, think that mine are all pushed down to 1 as I just kept spraying bullets both sides of the target and never hitting hehe

still needs a lot of work. Tweaking the aim acceleration maybe but the gunplay is poor and the endgame driving meta needs addressing somehow. Fortnite is very different but is probably a smoother battle royale experience currently.

Saying that, PUBG is great fun in duos/squads, the starting/loot game is good, as is the final few circles (especially in squads).

I think the headset debate depends on which game mode you play. It's pretty essential in solo and duos but in squads I find half the time my own team mates are scaring the crap out me. I have Astro A50s and whilst the sound quality is great, the mic is poor and I'm very tempted by the TB 800Xs or SteelSeries Siberias.

Tap the aim button rather than holding to aim down sights

I've been playing with surround sound with my brother who uses a decent headset - I find I'm using him a lot still to give more precise directions of enemies, either my speakers need some tweaking/moving or I need to get a new set of speakers

I've one won one game and come top 5 quite a few times with him, my best effort solo was 4th with the last three people in cars at the end.. not sure what you're supposed to do when it ends like that

Absolutely love the game and my aiming has improved a lot just by playing at least once a day however if I get to top ten I find I have to have a break before starting the new game as I get far too into it!!!
