I've been playing with surround sound with my brother who uses a decent headset - I find I'm using him a lot still to give more precise directions of enemies, either my speakers need some tweaking/moving or I need to get a new set of speakers

I've one won one game and come top 5 quite a few times with him, my best effort solo was 4th with the last three people in cars at the end.. not sure what you're supposed to do when it ends like that

Absolutely love the game and my aiming has improved a lot just by playing at least once a day however if I get to top ten I find I have to have a break before starting the new game as I get far too into it!!!
Got down to the last six at the weekend, edge of the sofa stuff and very gripping.
However as above every bugger else was in a car and i didn't stand a chance.
Kinda put me off and i haven't played it since. frown
I also very rarely get a kill unless i stumble on someone AFK or looting a dead player.
I think I need some earphones as although i have surround sound and can here players close by i can't pinpoint them.

Not sure if it is just me or not, but CQB turns into a duel between two blind folded folk having epileptic fits.

IMO they really need to sort out the aiming characteristics for closer engagements..

Watched a couple of vids of the pro guys on YouTube. Their tactics are quite interesting:

1. They have no qualms about being outside the blue ring of death to find all the weapons/gear they want and to avoid the crowds. They just constantly top up their decreasing health using looted medpacks.
2. As the circle gets tighter/smaller they hang right on the edge of the blue ring of death and walk in with it as opposed to being in the centre and hiding out. I suppose this way they have a smaller field of view to watch as they know no-one will be behind them.

I've played about 50 rounds so far with a 0.5 k/d ratio (not that I am using the k/d ratio as a barometer of success). 4th is my best finish yet but generally finish around 20th-50th spot (am a very average gamer). Really really enjoying.

Still haven't managed to win yet but can consistently get top 15 with a second place being my best finish. I'm finding I get most success by spending as much of the early stages as possible looting and trying to find a decent scope, after that I get a vehicle and try and get pretty central to the play area where there is some cover like trees or a rock and then fight from there.

Interesting to hear the pro player techniques as the most common way I seem to get killed is being shot from behind from people outside the playzone, perhaps they should make it that it deteriorates health quicker if your outside or prevents you from using medipacks outside the playzone

Great game smile

There's two very different strategies to the endgame: come in with the circle. Advantage being you don't have to worry so much about what's behind you and I think it's harder to spot people with the blue as a backdrop. Disadvantages being that you might get caught in the circle, or find yourself (just) inside it without cover and facing someone.

The other strategy is to move as soon as the circle appears. Dominate the stairs high ground in the middle and make people come to you. This gives you a tactical advantage but you can get rushed by more than one player/squad from more than one direction.

Of course you can also drive in circles beeping your horn too.....

Also, the early shooter game meta for improving is usually camping in buildings and letting people come to you. This doesn't work with PUBG because of the terrible aim acceleration. It becomes a coin toss.

A few other things I've picked up (feel free to take notice or not):

it takes 6-7 shots on full auto for the spread to reach it's largest. I have most success in short bursts or even semi fire. The only time I'll go full auto is if I'm up close and panic firing at someone.

A few controls people don't seem to know about:
Holding down LB holds your breath when aiming with a scope, or switches the zoom with a variable scope. LB also boosts your vehicle when driving.
Holding RB let's you free look around, even when running. It's good if you are prone/hiding and want to have a nosey.

If you kill someone then don't loot them straight away. It's easy to get a bead on where gunshots came from and if a third person/squad sees a kill on the kill feed then they can be on you pretty quickly. Get into the habit of hiding, reloading and using meds before looting a body. At worst, you'll do it a bit later, at best it might get you a kill or two more.

I avoid airdrops 99% of the time, unless they're in a very remote place that I'm fairly certain is pretty quiet. Alternatively use it as bait. If you do have to go for it, drive up and use your vehicle as cover (facing where you think would be the most populated area).

If you get shot at, run to cover. Don't just go prone. Hitting a moving target is a lot harder than shooting the grass where you just saw someone. I'm very guilty of this myself.

Don't shoot at someone unless you're pretty sure you're going to kill them. Just hurting someone as they run behind cover will give your position away and let them know that they're being hunted. They're also often running to the circle ahead of you, so as soon as they get there they will med up, take cover and wait for you.

Similarly, don't engage someone miles away when you don't have any decent optics, they might and you will regret taking a potshot pretty quickly.

Don't over loot. Loot for 5-6 minutes/2 circle placements and then anyone you kill (carefully), unless you happen across stuff by accident.

The M16, SCAR and 416 do the same amount of damage per shot (the 416 has a slightly higher rate of fire), so I will pick up the 416 or SCAR over the M16 if given a choice. They can take more attachments and go full auto (although I use semi mostly anyway). The AKM and Groza do slightly more damage than those three.

You're incredibly hard to spot if you're prone in a shadow with a dark coat on. I've had people practically walk over me.

If someone has a level 3 helmet then you'll kill quicker going for body shots, regardless of which vest they have.

I'm very inconsistent with how far they go, sometimes I'll aim a huge arc in the sky and will still just throw it underarm in front of me.

LT is to aim and then hold RT to prime, release RT to throw.... I think....

Edit: While holding RT (to aim with grenade), tap LT to change throwing style. You can also tap LB to pull the pin pre-throw. I think it’s a 5 second fuse

Simo - agree 100% on the above. Its a game of attrition - a couple of random post shots at someone with little/no-hope of killing them does you no favours.

Really enjoying it, had around 5 solo wins, and appx 20% top 10 finishes, suffering from repeat crashes of the game though which is frustrating and ruining my %!

Duos is probably the best mode, running at 33% win and 50% top 10 currently.

Remember to ADS plus hold LB, don’t fire unless you are likely to kill, let others engage each other, don’t ADS at close range, just hold LT - unless you are on mega high speed - people Vs ADS speed is too low generally, always check the fire setting when you pick up a new gun, remove old attachments before dropping a gun, stock up on any 7.62 / 5.56 ammo you may find, secure a vehicle, don’t sprint and loot bodies - in some ways it’s better to loot whilst continuously pressing ‘b’ to change stance, plan your movements and head to the area of circle with the smallest delta between white / blue; enjoy!

I had a sneaky suspicion that this was going on!! So many times I've been killed from a distance while I look like I'm covered in grass!! And can't see a damn thing!

I'm not sure about that to be honest. It crashes a lot less on the X, your frame rate is higher and buildings/loot render in a lot faster too.

This is only really an advantage for the original and S consoles in the endgame/last few circles.

Saying that though, my squad do seem to see things I can't and before me a lot of the time..... I just thought I was getting old.

Have found that the X does render, apply textures etc a alot faster than the normal Xbox

One thing we have noticed is that spectating someone who crashes, you also crash, which is quite freaky!

You just got to hope you get back in before the blue wall of death and pain catches up with you.

Have noticed on the Xbox that loot isnt as available as it is on the PC

Also as a suggestion they should remove any clothing etc as loot and only make it weapons and kit needed for the game as I am sure this will make a huge improvement for people.

I find long distance sniping (8x) etc I am useless at but ACOG I am a DMR god haha Which is the polar opposite from my PC PUBG Career .

Played this properly for the first time last night. Man is it a different game to any other first person/3rd person shooter. With no tutorial, figuring out the buttons was pretty hard.

Really enjoying it, managed top 16 which isn't great but was only my 2nd round.

Add me up B0WEN86 (its BzeroWEN86)

I seem to be going backwards. Won on my third go, but can barely score a kill these days.

I seem to die very quickly, in 1 or 2 shots, but I emptied a magazine in someone else and they didn't? As it doesn't happen every time I wonder if it is lag causing it? It's not armour either.
