Oval racing is surprisingly fun for a little mental mind break from road racing. Although americans and the voice chat are something to behold. especially friday/saturday nights when Im sure half the field is pissed.

pretty badly im afraid, It follows the GRC set up, as such, driving on road is like gt3 cars and dirt is like bambi after 10 pints. Add in some big comical sizes jumps aswell.
That's interesting, I thought iRacing RX was very good, I found you could be very neat or also very 'Ken Block Rotation Party' and get a very rewarding result, felt great.

Maybe I need to jump on PC2 RX and see what it's like.

May be different for everyone else, depending on what they expect it to feel like, But for me, Soon as your onto the dirt, Its pretty much off throttle exempt when 0.00 degree steering.

Dirt rally and PC2 seemed a bit more balanced.

Left field choice maybe, but dirt cheap in the Steam sale currently (£5.74) and runs well on lower spec PC's - Automobilista (revamped version of Stock Car Extreme). Has (to me at least) the most realistic force feedback of the various PC based games/sims. The optional Brit DLC pack is under £3 giving you Brands, Cadwell etc.

Yes the graphics are not the best (decent enough), but the feedback outweighs that for me. A reasonable number of mod tracks and cars can also be found on Racedepartment.
At £5.74 it might be worth a look. Googling 'steam automobilista' should find what you need. You might be surprised!

Dirt rally is not perfect but as an off road sim it takes some beating for a more modern game.

Assetto Corsa is pretty good, although has some odd quirks.

Rfactor with the realfeel plugin is still for me one of the best.

Haven't tried that race yet as I've been mostly running time trials or custom races. A quick google suggests you're not the only one to struggle. One suggestion is to max out your ride height and tyre pressures to help deal with the puddles - might be worth a try.
Thank you, PC2 no longer feels like I am driving on ice.

My year-long iRacing subscription expired recently, and here are my opinions:

1) The graphics are very good. Very immersive and believable smile

2) The physics appear to be good, but I prefer rFactor

3) The online aspect is ruined by idiots crashing into you because they are frustrated! The "Racing Gods" also shove you out of the way during PRACTICE sessions. There are also a lot of idiots who leave the session by stopping in thoughtless places. Here's a great example:

Idiot slamming on the brakes as we come into the pits ... causing a collision, and fking my Safety Rating. This is the first time I had been anywhere near this guy!! IMHO the Safety Rating is flawed

The safety rating works well in my opinion. One incident doesn't harm your SR.

People always get upset that they get involved in other people's incidents, but often it takes two people to create the situation and a lack of awareness also.

A lot of people with poor SR always blamed everyone else, but it's strange how many drivers could maintain a top score SR.

I always wait for a renewal subscription offer from iRacing, whilst I enjoy the circuits, online architecture and discipline, I just can't get my head around the tyre model nor the extortionate pricing. Not when there are free alternative plugins for sims like AC that does exactly the same thing.

I'm even happy to pay the £45 a year for Gran Turismo Sport but paying hundreds of dollars for the same system in iRacing, doesn't make sense.

Assetto Corsa Competezinoi (sp) I have been following via early access.

So far combines my likes from PC2 with AC which is no bad thing! (I prefer GT3 racing and this simulates the Blancpain series)

For immersion it still has to be PC2 in VR with Crew Chief running in the background. Looks and feels great, and the ability to ask questions about the car to the AI and receive encouragement and coaching during an endurance race is fantastic.

I won a three hour of Spa a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.

I’ve only just AC on the PS4 via a free trial of PS Now. Ended up downloading AC and not bothering with the trial anymore.

It’s brilliant. But only with a wheel, damn near impossible with the pad. I like that there aren’t 4000 settings for the wheel and I can drift a car properly through a corner, corner after corner, lap after lap! Oh and the car noise is nice too.

Iracing is just so good for real racing but...

the cost..... (and they now charge VAT, from America)
the frustration.... so easy to blow out of a race. However, this is what makes it so great - there is a real price to pay for mistakes.

They just need to bring the price down. I play (played) occasionally, and that makes it too spendy, particularly when you return after a while to find the new seasons use tracks you haven't paid for already.

There is a track in Australia that is insanely intense in a powerful car.

I would recommend something for everyone to try if they haven't done so already.

Project Cars 2.
Plug in a wheel and pedals.
Start a new career.
Choose Ginetta Juniors.
Turn off all assists.
Turn AI difficulty to 100.

What awesome fun. You can dance the car around and really push it. Proper close racing and the weather system is a peach. I was racing at Knockhill, it was torrential on one side of the circuit, cars aquaplaning off etc and there was a dry line on the other half.

I did two seasons and then moved into the Clio Cup where again its great fun to drive.

I've never been a fan of PC2 as some cars just feel wrong, but, the slower formulas are worth a punt.
