Drat - I think I've only done 5 laps of Barcelona (just to get a GTrank time)

No time to practice before the race either, so I may try to do a 'no pit stop/ hard tyres' strategy and keep out of everyones way

Yes I'm up for a race this evening - been getting withdrawls Tried my new graphics card with GTR yesterday - went to Brands, and from the bumper view stationary on the track I was getting 230fps!

I'll be there, but might be a bit later than 8pm. What format are you proposing to run, and have you got an IP & pwd yet? I also assume this is NGT?

We'll race in simulation but all the aids will be available... generally we don't use them.

We'll practice for "a bit" then qualify quickly and then a 25 minute or so race.

NGT unless anybody feels very strongly otherwise.

no ip yet... there won't be a pword.

Do you run a pace lap at the start?

It's very slow and causes pile ups, so we tend to run our own pace lap - the pole sitter drives round at reduced speed and is only allowed to go for it when he crosses the line. Everyone else cannot pass until the line is crossed. It tends to avoid the carnage at turn one that results from a standing start.

It's not a standing start though if you disable the pace lap, you take over control from the AI at speed.

Had a fun race last night with Mike, Mark & Del (+ Andy in qual). It was all a bit confusing with a wet qual session (God knows how you get soft wets on the front up to temp on a GT3) and then a wet race too which was aborted when I got put on track while the car was moving - I had no time to do anything before the steering yanked over and chucked me in the wall.

Sorry to Mark for the punt into T1 on lap 2. I had Del to my right and you braked earlier than expected - still my fault tho. Then had a fun dice with Del resulting in a draft and pass into T1, and then Del tried the same thing on me next lap, which unfortunately spun me round. When we got going I was chasing Mike, who was back in front after going off very early. Del dropped out due to a puncture so we were on our own up front. The gap was gradually closing, with the odd mistake here and there for both of us. Mike was clearly trying hard judging by the tyre smoke and rear-end twitching ahead, and he ended up losing the back as I closed in at T7 (right onto back straight). I then had a clear run to the flag, although the last few laps were rather dodgy with knackered tyres. Mike had even more problems, with a couple of spins, the last taking his rear wing clean off. Watching the replay it's quite funny to see him struggle to just keep the thing in a straight line. It's a shame that there wasn't another lap, just to see if Mike could have held off Mark, who was quite a way back by the end.

I might be around for a race tonight if there are enough others wanting to race. Not sure if I want to spend an hour with only a handful to race against tho. How many normally turn out on sun night?

I've only had the one PH GTR race last week but think theer was 8 of us. Probably 10-12 if we all turned up one night.

If you do get lonely during a small race I'll always chat to you every time I lap you

That's fightin' talk! What sort of times are you doing in race trim (I assume you mean in a GT3?). Would you expect to stop?

It's more a case of 'all talk' rather than fighting talk

If I do lap you then it will probably because I'm driving the wrong way round the track, I've still only done 5 laps of Barcelona in a Lambourghini so I don't think you've anything to worry about. However we all know that in an endurance race anything can happen
