Yep, loved BF: Bad Company 2.
Yep, still a stand out game. Can you still play it?

Having played online FPS for 20 years I don’t say this lightly.

Breakthrough on Pacific Storm as an attacking team is the worst level design I have ever seen. It’s the gaming equivalent of D-Day. I have PTSD from landing and been repeatedly killed. Never again!!
It's certainly no Paracel Storm from BF4 but does take on the frustrating circular gameplay in other modes where you systematically follow the other side in capping flags because nobody sits back to defend the ones you already have.

I've been with Battlefield since BF2 and have generally played each game exclusively until the next one came out. BFV has now left me looking elsewhere for my amusement, it's had its moments of real potential but on the whole has missed the mark.

490,000 in game credits sit unused, I didn't buy it to play "dress-up my soldier" and definitely don't want to pay actual money for some of the, albeit very nice, extras the team spent time making instead of developing core game content for all.

I wish I'd jumped and invested my time in Gran Turismo Sport sometimes, heck I might buy that now that BFV seems to be dead.

What keeps me coming back is that 1 game every 10 that swing back and forth and then you nick it in the dying moments to win. Balanced games like that are far too rare though now. There is a heavy emphasis on vehicles and I do enjoy a tank session but it’s to the detriment of the rest of the game and the people playing it.

When it clicks it’s untouchable.

Given what EA and Dice have done with this game i can't say that I will be rushing out to get BF6.

Patch v6. 6 now out.

https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/discussion/20...

Balancing and silly cosmetic things mainly it seems.

Looks like the next set of challenges starts on the 14th.

I’ve given up on BFV. Removed it from my Xbox and am now playing COD.

It simply wasn’t fun any more.

Ive just reinstalled BF3 and had a game... still looks good (the benefit of an old game is I can have the graphics on ultra) and ive forgotten how much I loved these maps!
Trying to get my buddy to reinstall too, so that we can take a break from BFV for a couple of weeks.

"The player you deployed on way engaged in combat"

So how about you don't let me spawn on them just like it's been since the game came out? Why introduce such a naff change at this late stage?

Yeah I have been getting that a lot lately, spawns me then kicks me back to the spawn screen. Infuriating.

It's weird because the old "Player in combat" message still exists and stops you spawning on people sometimes too.

I see they've handed out 200 Battlefield coins due to issues with the previous weekly challenge (I didn't see any problems) and are still giving 100 for completing them, presumably as a ruse to make is so you don't quite have enough to buy anything you like and feel the need to pour more actual money their way to make up the difference.

Exactly same history as myself, even down to gran turisml which i purchased because my internets pretty crap where I currently am. Overall Bf still wins for
Completeness Vs competitors.
I’d love a return to battlefield company next, especially vietnam based.

I think something more desert storm focused couldcbe cool, conflict desert storm was genuinely a brilliant game
With cool weapons and tanks.

Still liking BFV overall, just not the best one of the series.

Proper fed up with this now. I just please myself now as most players are selfish wkers. Moaning here cos the missus doesn’t give a st! smile

-As soon as one side starts winning people just quit out. So easy wins or massive losses.
-Planes are a disgrace!! Some will disagree. When people are going massive scores for no deaths then there is clearly an issue. The load time for reloading is far too short and the bombs see too powerful. At least in the original game you could put fighter v bomber. Waste of time on Pacific. AA Gun are st. There should be more then we will see who is skilled. Takes no skill at the moment just exploiting st game design.
- You get out on the team full of single/non team players v squads of 4.
- Squads of medics. Nothing more to say. Every time a squad is top of leader board it’s medics.
- Never played a game with more glitches and bugs. See the spawn on your team mate that takes you in then back out again.
-On objective games people just don’t move!! Sniping from the back of the area whilst we just lose.

I could go on and on. As I said I just please myself now. I can tell what a game is gonna be like in the first 5 minutes and adjust my game play to suit.

Here an example if you choose to play 32 player with no vehicles. Utterly ridiculous 1 sided games. 3rd best player on my team had 3 kills.

As soon as its obvious im on team ste, i quit as theres no point getting angry. Every now and then Team Tard manage to save the game on the last flag but i only end up playing those games due to others in chat having ocd about finishing games.

Its still a better game than 4 and 1 though.

Sorry ive not been on lately or played together, currently working away from home

It is shocking that after all this time, as the game is about to come to an end, it's still riddled with ridiculous bugs and odd decisions on the UI.

I've been taking a fancy to a bit of flying of late so obviously have to do competitive spawning if someone else is also doing the same. The process is ridiculous.

You can't wait on the icon for the plane and adjust which plane you actually want and modify it to suit your needs at that time like you used to be able to do and then when the opportunity to spawn in a plane does arise you often just get a red circle because someone else is trying to do the same. They don't seem to actually then spawn, it's just some kind of stalemate until one of you moves off the icon. Even then it can show a "1" there to indicate the plane is available only for it not to be if you try to use it.

Of course all of this is further improved at the start of the game when the spawn icon suddenly moves locations when the game starts but the controls don't allow you to move to it directly and you have to bounce off several other spawn points to get to it only to find it's no longer available.

Obviously not everyone can have a plane or tank etc, that would be madness but surely there's a better way? It seemed to work OK in previous games but why can't they employ some kind of queue where you're shown what position you're in and how long until the vehicle might spawn so you can just give up and get on with helping on the ground?

I'm into dropping the 4000lb bombs and getting quite good at it so despite not being active all the time I'm making a difference when I actually get in the air.

Conversely I stupidly went for the glider bomb on the F4U-1C Corsair and genuinely have no idea what the point of it is or how to make it actually kill anyone, it's like dropping a wet paper plane, the most I've managed in many, many goes is about 10 damage on a soldier. Unfortunately I now can't seem to get the plane over level 4 and to the level 6 so I can get rid of the bloody thing biggrin

Infuriating!! Also those using M&K have an advantage as they can just hover over the area and click instantly.

Got a weird problem - reinstalled W10 on my PC recently (something I do every 6 months or so to keep everything nice) and since then BF5 takes AGES to load up to the initial home screen from desktop - literally 3-4 minutes!
Ive kept all my graphics setttings the same, but what I have noticed is that if I switch to DX11 and restart, the same loads up quickly. I always used to have the game on DX12, and it loaded pretty quickly.

My hardware is getting on a bit now (i7 2600k, 16GB RAM, R9 390X 8GB card, Crucial SSD) but nothing has actually changed since before- except that the load time is now crazy slow.

Thing is, I think the game runs nicer on DX12 than DX11, so guess i'll just have to put up with it, but has anyone else noticed the same?
Googled it of course, and found loads of people saying the same, but no fixes...

New map released yesterday - Provence - really like it. Its a bit like Arras, half the map close streets and buildings, the other half farmyards and fields, including the windmill lifted from several BF1 maps.
Also given a stload of guns and gadgets for nowt (about 15!?) as well as introducing another pointless dress-my-soldier thing, which is a "charm" you can attach to your gun - wtf?!

Basically, it feels like these are all maps and weapons that were created to be dripfed over the next 12-24 months, but now the EA bosses have said that BF5 is finished, they have basically thought "sod it - lets just give them away now".
