I’ve got an S in one room, and an X in another, and I switch between them playing the same games depending on which room is available.

The X is noticeably faster in all aspects, booting up, loading games, transitions, etc. It’s not just the actual game, but stuff like Forza does run smoother on the X, and also in the case of Forza, has 4K textures available only to the X.

If I used it enough, I’d replace the S with another X.

My X is on a 4K tv. I’d agree, the extra cost is more of an issue if you’re not going to make use of the 4K.

But as said above, wheels aren’t a huge bonus in Forza Horizon particularly, as it’s designed for a pad. Maybe in Forza 7. I don’t play pure sim racing games, so never felt the need for a wheel. I’m strictly an arcade player.

I have a Fanatec CSR wheel that I used with the 360 and the first horizon a few years ago, which seemed to work pretty well. I agree that the games are more pad orientated so I wouldn't invest in it just for horizon, but it does open up opportunities for enhancing things like project cars, fm7 asseto Corsa etc.

I plan on getting a Logitech g290 at some point.

Forza game are never optimized for the wheel. It's more arcadey than sim focused anyway.
The forums are full of people struggling to set up their wheel and having issues.

There will be a good deal on Xbox X with FH4 and F7 bundled + Fifa19 or RDR2 when released over the next few weeks.

I've decided I want to pre order the ultimate edition, but I'd like the bond car pack (and drift pack etc.) it comes with the digital download from microsoft but will the bond pack come with a physical disc version from game for example? That version comes with the car pass so will you just automatically get all the cars as they become available anyway or is the bond pack a locked special bonus you would need to buy separately?

Hmmmmm, not interested in FIFA so I guess £449 (plus cash back) is the best deal?

Looks like the Ultimate is the one you want.

Downloaded the demo and first impressions not bad and more enjoyable than the other Horizons.

Sense of speed can feel a bit off, such as at 150mph you're actually just doing an English road at 70mph but I spose that's the arcade bit.

Feel more connected to the road like Forza than the usual Horizon games.

Hate all the millennial party crowd bks but so far has promise overall.

It should be. I've downloaded / preloaded it on PC today, so should be able to play the first hour or so Thursday at midnight, then I've got Friday off work to smash it all day biggrin

Juat tried the demo and it played quite well considering my system specs. I got about 25fps on 4k with everything on ultra, which isn't too bad as I only have a GTX970 and an I5 2500k. Maybe i can hold off upgrading for a little while longer smile

Apparently, it's being released an hour before midnight. That said, others have said that previous online releases of Horizon have taken several hours to unlock e.g. 3-5am. As such, I've decided to take Friday off work to have some time to play it! FH4 seems fairly similar to FH3, which is only a good thing, imho. I'm looking forward to exploring the world!

My only concern with the XBox X is it's life expectancy. How long until it's replaced with something better? Rumour has it the PS5 will be released around 2020/2021 and as a result, I imagine Microsoft has something planned too. I've just bought a 4K television, so I'm tempted. However £400-450 for 2-3 years is ... not great.

Out of interest, if you have a digital copy of FH4, if you were to change to the XBox X, can you download the 'X' enhanced version for free?

Apparently they are working on the replacement, but it's not as if they'll switch off support for the One as soon as it comes out. Besides, launch is the worst time to buy a console as you get the early adopter problems, like the 360s that red ringed, or the Ones that you had to buy with Kinect and kept munching discs.

From what they said on the XBox One X launch, Xbox One is a platform now, the Xbox One X2 or whatever they call it should be backwards compatible with XB1 and XB1X (and maybe 360), and the games could be updated for extra shiny stuff on XB1X2.

I've got a Day One edition Xbox One, I've got a 1080 TV. I might skip the XB1X and upgrade to the XB1X2 at some point, and I'd probably have a 4k TV by then to go with it.
