My only concern with the XBox X is it's life expectancy. How long until it's replaced with something better? Rumour has it the PS5 will be released around 2020/2021 and as a result, I imagine Microsoft has something planned too. I've just bought a 4K television, so I'm tempted. However £400-450 for 2-3 years is ... not great.
Apparently they are working on the replacement, but it's not as if they'll switch off support for the One as soon as it comes out. Besides, launch is the worst time to buy a console as you get the early adopter problems, like the 360s that red ringed, or the Ones that you had to buy with Kinect and kept munching discs.I've got a Day One edition Xbox One, I've got a 1080 TV. I might skip the XB1X and upgrade to the XB1X2 at some point, and I'd probably have a 4k TV by then to go with it.

Juat tried the demo and it played quite well considering my system specs. I got about 25fps on 4k with everything on ultra, which isn't too bad as I only have a GTX970 and an I5 2500k. Maybe i can hold off upgrading for a little while longer
Turn some settings down and get that framerate up dude! You shouldn’t need everything on Ultra, especially with 4K resolution Ikemi said:
Out of interest, if you have a digital copy of FH4, if you were to change to the XBox X, can you download the 'X' enhanced version for free?
I assume it'll do that, as FH3 did. I had that on Xbox One, bought a new One X, and installed it. A little while later, when they released the textures, it automagically updated itself to the Xbox One X Enhanced version.Ikemi said:

As I understand it everyone has the "enhanced" version, however it only plays as enhanced on X model That was the reason for all the large updates to everyone when the X was launched. we all downloaded them weather we had an X or S or vanilla model at the time

Question is, with the money ‘saved’, do I buy the Ultimate Edition as well?
That is the question...I'm not one to buy the special editions really, think the last one I got was Forza (Motorsport) 4.
Tempted though!
I got Horizon 3 with the Hotwheels add-on and never played it. Didn't really appeal. Heard good things about the Blizzard Mountain, but never bother with that either.
I'm not too fussed about missing out on a few cars tbh. But curious what the future add-ons will be like. Maybe a Welsh mountain add-on I could get on board with haha.

Apparently, it's being released an hour before midnight. That said, others have said that previous online releases of Horizon have taken several hours to unlock e.g. 3-5am. As such, I've decided to take Friday off work to have some time to play it! FH4 seems fairly similar to FH3, which is only a good thing, imho. I'm looking forward to exploring the world!

Next Xbox is prob 2 yrs away and if you decide to upgrade then your Xbox One x will still be worth a good bit in part ex so it’s not all lost money. As others have said the game will recognise the x and will update itself with the high red textures etc.My only concern with the XBox X is it's life expectancy. I’m same as you the last special was Forza Motosport 4.
I agree that £80 for a game is silly. :-/
I didn't actually notice, that if you order the Ultimate Edition you get it on Friday! That's a clever little marketing trick.
I was expecting not to buy it until mid-October, as I've got a wedding to go to next week and relatives visiting the week after. But I would have a little bit of time this Saturday.... hmmmmmm. Is £80 worth it though.
Don't mind me, just thinking out loud!

What is the ultimate edition?
Well £80 really, just happened to have a cashback offer on my Amex card, but won't see that 5% back for a while. What is the ultimate edition?
I know, it's a tad ridiculous for a game! But I buy maybe one a year. In fact I haven't bought a game since the last Forza.
The fact you get it earlier was the reason I bought it tbh. The standard edition is released on Monday. The Ultimate on Friday.
But you also get some additional cars and the two add-on packages that will be released in future.

It's expensive, but based on the individual prices of all the stuff they released for the last game, you're saving about £40 by buying the Ultimate Edition up front, and you get the other in-game bonuses like more credits, more XP, more bonuses, and being able to play it a weekend earlier
